heart Feb-May 2011 Mommies

Hey girls

I don't normally "moomie" at home, but I've just been so distraught about Kaylae's news that I had to come and check in again.

My LB was very quiet today, so I was very relieved when he started moving shortly after I got home - he normally moves most at night, but I was just totally stressed about it today.

Kimika I agree with the others, go with what your dr says and in the meantime we hope that maybe you go into labour before Tuesday. Maybe start trying the home remedies, eating pineapple, using Arnica, etc..

Dinner time, hubby and I did a little braai, so time to say goodbye for now.

Chat again tomorrow and just hoping that Kaylae gets through this night ok!

hi ladies

I had to go back to sleep so that's why I'm only posting now. When Kaylae messaged me it was 4:30am here!!

Kaylae my friend - havent stopped thinking of you. My heart is just so sore.

Tazzy - I had a dream about you and your daughter now when I slept - how bizarre!!

Karin - those symptoms sure sound like your body is preparing!!!

Kimika - trust your doctor. You are term already and if the baby's growth is slowing down, it's best not to take risks. As she says, the placenta can stop functioning from 36 weeks so go with the flow, use each minute you have now to mentally prepare (baby may not wait until Tuesday's induction!) and get ready. It is a very exciting and nerve wrecking time for you!! Baby is a good weight too and YES! you have done the hard work of getting to 4cm already!!!! 0-4cm can take some mom's about 8 hours normally so you've bypassed that long slow stage of labour already!!

thanks for all the comments on the diabetes. I am not "scared" of it or anything. Just sucks that I'll have to follow a special diet :p
I know all the risks etc so I'm not stressed.
I have to say, about 5 weeks ago I noticed an excessive thirst that was not resolved by drinking water. It was crazy. And my immediate thought was 'gestational diabetes'. (however...I may not even have it).
I think if I do have it, I only developed it recently. That would explain why I havent had a baby measuring big or anything so far. Luckily, since beginning of January, I have made a very big effort on my diet (due to my excessive weight gain) so if I do have GD, at least I have already altered my diet compared to what I was eating before.
Yip Claire, doing the 3 hour test on Tuesday. Gonna be so bored just sitting at the gynae's office for so long to do the test!
Schatsie I think it was you asking if I need to see a gynae now. - No I can stay with the midwife. she will be doing my tests etc.

So I am starting to re-think hiring the birth tub. I just wonder if I will even use it enough that it makes it worth the cost. Legally, the midwife is not allowed to deliver in the water at that hospital - I can only labour in it. she says she'll give me the hint to just push when it's time, but considering she hasnt done that before for others, it makes me wonder if she'll really do it for me.
It's $350 for the tub rental (about R2500) and we'll have to set it up at the hospital (the stuff will be there).
I can just imagine using it for 1 hour and then being "over" it. so not sure I'm gonna bother with it anymore...

today I'm going to iron Matthieu's things and perhaps start arranging stuff for the hospital bag.
Can someone post a list of what should be in there? I have an idea of the list - but just want to confirm...

Schatsie is it open to anybody or invite only? Went to one at blaauberg netcare this am. It was so informative...had a midwive, gynae, paed talking. Also they had yummy saamies, divine chocolate muffins, and really great goodie bags....breast pads, all JnJ stuff and even a 60ml Bio oil! Learnt a lot, confirmed a lot, and was great to watch some live births as well (on DVD that is!).

Lotsa fluid and one happy wiggly baby ( i can never keep still, so cant expect my baby too!). Starting classes on 21 Feb (till 26 March) and so so so so so upset as DH will be away for the first   Hope i will not be the only single person there!

No other news, just so tired, neighbours have put down fertilizer so now our house stinks of S&*T AND ALL THESE LITTEL ANNOYING FLIES! Not happy about that!

At least my next gynae appointment is in 3 weeks time (yay those 4 week stretches were too long!)

Take care ladies...exciting times are almost apon us :)

Kaylae, I am thinking of you every minute! May God be at your side tonight! xxx

Kimika, we have to trust our Dr's and sometimes there is a bit of disappointment in doing so, but its all worth it! I just cant believe that you will be holding your LB next week! Do what you can, and it will all fall into place. Shout if you need anything, I am down the road!

Meags, hope you have a good day today and hope that you get the tests sorted out and all is well. Thinking of you, I know how it is to be homesick! Hang in their, the homrones are raging right now! Sending you hugs!

This thread is going to be kept busy in the next few weeks! Wishing you all a safe and restful last few days/weeks.

Kimika ~ Wow... your angel boy is almost here then! Take this weekend hun and prepare yourself for your little guy. :) All will be well, you'll see. Hopefully you will go into labour on your own before Tuesday and you won't have to get the induction... Keep your thoughts positive and concentrate on good feelings about holding your little boy soon! (((hugs)))
Oh and wow about your symptoms being exactly the same a week ago!! Now I'm really happy that I'll be seeing my doctor tomorrow! ;) And jip, bag is luckily packed already.
Getting some uncomfy, strong BH while sitting here typing. I'm sure symptoms get worse later in the day and evening.

Well.... my heart is so sore for our Kaylae, its hard thinking about anything else right now. I'm going to log off now and be very thankful for my little angel that is still so active and letting me know she is okay. Also thinking of you Kaylae and praying for you and your family.

Till tomorrow ladies, have a nice evening.

Kaylae - I still can't process it. I am devastated for you, it must be unbearable. Why oh why? Sending you lots of love, hugs and tender thoughts.

Karin and Rakker - I agree, you are our "unknown"!! Pack those bags and let us know what gynae says tomorrow asap. In the meantime, rest as much as possible and get DH to gently rub belly with tissue oil to help ease the BH.

Kimika - I would also follow drs orders. Your baba is full term and a healthy weight already. In light of Kaylae's tradegy I would also not take any chances. Use the next day or 2 to do what needs to be done and spend some time getting your mind around it, with some positive thoughts!! Thinking of you.

Meags - GD is easily treatable. Don't worry about the scary stats either, because the truth of the matter is that M's lifestyle when he grows up will play the biggest and most NB role in determining his health and diabetes risk, not what happened inutero. (and I am a qualified diabetes educator!!) So don't worry too much and follow midwife/ drs recommendations and all will be well. Take care.

Hi Kimika

I am also so saddened re Kaylae it's hard to think. Sending her lots of love. It must be so painful to have carried the baby for so long and then just to have it not be born. I am so very sad for her and about it.

Re your situation - seriously I can't but help but be jealous! :) Really the way you described it is fine!! My mayo clinic book says anything from 37 weeks is technically full term so really your little one has done great!!!

I say go with your doctor's advice, sure it's not what you would've preferred but we rarely get choice in these things. Go for it! And by Tuesday you may well have little one in your arms!! You are sooo lucky!!!!!!!

I really can't see anything to worry about hey?

And 4 cm dilated is AWESOME I also read that the 0-4 is like the WORST so you've done that already aren't you great!!

So...try go with the flow, think positively there's nothing to worry about you're in good hands and your lo is full term - all is well!!

Good luck and please keep us posted!!!!!

I am only seeing my gynae in a week's time cause Will has so not dropped!!! At all!!!

In a nutshell I would have done what you did - go with what doc has to say!

Cathm
