Karin - I am sorry the amnio wasn't such a fun experience, but I am so glad you have made peace with it. You will be blessed with a gorgeous baby!!

To Everyone who has commented on their DH's thank you!!! It is amazing that it happened today. I also have woes to add. Remember I mentioned that DH was coming off his meds, well the plot thickened this morning. I caught him smoking!
I have never been the most maternal person and would probably have been happy to never have children but DH wanted, desperately. So the deal was he gave up smoking and got a bit healthier (he is obese) and we could start a family. He has lied to me before about smoking so this is a super sensitive issue for me. I have stuck to my end of the deal and really changed my attitude and mind set about children to do this properly and even through I miscarriage I perservered.
Now he makes it worse -he says that he is smoking because I am cold and never show him affection, so he is going to cope in the best way he knows how (smoking) and that if I wasn't pregnant he would have considered leaving me. I mean WTF??? We have been married over 10 years, I am not the most physical person as I also come from an unaffectionate family but it is something I am aware of and always try to work on. Flip if changing my whole attitude to children doesn't show him that I love him and am commited to him what does? I thought I was the pregnant one ... he is being way more off the charts than me!! I am so angry and upset. This has completely caught me off guard.

hello all!!!!

Gosh what a busy weekend! Friday was fun with my mom and sister, we were in the shops most of the time to get final things for my Brothers party, that turned out to be rather fun!

The rest of the weekend was ok, just very hot!

I Know this is going to sound rude, But I am glad to see other ladies are "moaning" about their partners too.

My DF is in George till Thursday with business. He is a Drug counseler and works with drug addicts and everything that goes with it. But the problem is that it is a NPO, and he does not pull a monthly salary. On a good "month" he gets money weekly, but the last while its like he is just waiting for work to come in, instead of going to the office each day and "getting" work.

Everytime I mention something about getting a 2nd job he changes the subject. I mean, its not like he is swomped with work at the moment.... He has wonderfull manager experiance in the Resturant industry, but he says he does not like to leave me alone at home at night (yet he goes to George for a week) any way.

I feel that it is unfair that I have to budget everything on my little salary, but he does not se it that way. he keeps saying "i'm trying my best" and unfortunitly "trying your best" is not good enough because we now have a baby on the way. and I'm not getting a salary when I'm on maternaty leave so who is going to pay for all the expenses plus make sure that the baby has everything s/he needs?

also another thing that bothers me is his freaking smoking! Even before I fell pregnant, I on many ocasions asked him to drop the habbit, not only cause it is bad for me being a non smoker, but its a waist of money(if any of you are smokers, sorry, but I end up paying for his habbit and I do not see why I should) and now that baby is on the way, I cannot seem to stress it enough that he must stop smoking, I have even gone so far as to refuse to buy him smokes, but he just does not get the picture!

So I think when he gets back, i'm going to put both feet down and stick to my choice that I have made, he might not like it, but he will het over it. I'm tired of being the Finacial stable one

Sorry for ranting here, but you guy's seem to get it.

any way! on a happier note, My mom asked if I could get half day off of work cause she wants to take me baby shopping tomorrow....is that not sweet???? I'm so excited, but I think i'll buy all in Nutral colors if I buy any clothing. we will also go look at Camping cots and all those "big" things too....

ok I'm ging to have my lunch now.....

Kayla's eyes also goes pink when she's got flu etc, but ya just take her to the chemist first. I'm sure they would be able to help.

Kimika - it's very normal. With Kayla I carried very small and just my tummy showed - didn't pick up much weight. With Megan by 13 weeks I couldn't fit into my pants anymore. My boobs, my bum and my legs all went huge - I was very round. With this baby - I didn't pick up weight anywhere yet, just my tummy is showing nice and round :-). Where's your stuff stored? I hope you can remember which box it is in!

Emsmom, maybe with her body being a bit out of it she picked up the pink-eye easier? They will be able to give you something for it at the chemist, and saves you some money on going to the gp.

I have some nice BIG maternity pants, and then I bought a really nice white one a while ago that was on sale.. Its all packed away in storage so I still didnt go pick it up :( Will try go tomorrow..

I think like you said, your MIL just is not showing her emotion.. sounds very much like my family.. we really dont ever show emotion. My mom still barely talks about my pregnancy let alone the baby! She would ask me maybe every few weeks how far along I am. When we told her its a boy she just said "oh" :) It upsets my hubby because they again are very emotional and shows it! So he finds it really hard to understand why my family is not the same.. so I understand your situation and you have my sympathy.. its a difficult thing! xxx

Guys Im sure Im carrying different than with my son!? My tummy sits high and even hubby commented that it looks different.. With my son I was carrying sooo low thats why I could hardly wear maternity pants.. it kept squishing me on the biggest part of my belly. Now the biggest bump is above my belly button and it feels hard there.. very strange! Is it normal to carry differently??

Rakker, ahh shame man, really hope this ms will go now!!

Jessica, how are things now with your SIL???

KarinM, sorry the procedure didnt go well. But you sound confident in your decision not to go through it again! We all trust your little babie will be perfect and healthy! Just enjoy your pregnancy and your little baby! xxx

Hi All. Sorry I've been so quiet. Couldn't log into the internet once again!

Karin - shame man that must have been nerve wrecking! I'm sorry it was such a horrible experience for you. I trust that your baby will be 100%. Pls come and give us an update after Friday's gynae visit. Thinking of you.

Sjoe some of you really have DH (or should I leave the Dear out) problems. It's sad that some dads are so uninvolved. I think my husband has done more nappy changes for Megan than what I did. One thing I've also noticed is that we as women must actually ask for what we want. We tend to think that men will know or guess, but they don't.

My MIL is very excited about the new arrival (I think more than me!!). My dad passed away many years ago and we never see my mother. She doesn't even know that I'm preggars. She's just not interested.

I also went to look for maternity clothes, but there is just nothing! It's really horrible, huge clothes. I still fit into my pants, just can't close the buttons. I won't be buying maternity clothes either. Leggings and flowing tops and dresses will have to do. I'm carrying much smaller than what I was with Megan, so I'm sure clothes won't be a problem.

Kimika - I got my dates wrong - I will be 17 weeks when I see the gynae next week :-).

Karin, sorry it was so horrible for you to go through. Perhaps it is good that you've made peace with it now. What will be will be. You can still mentally prepare for what if, but in the end you get your baby :)

Jessica, sorry you also have a hard time with DH. Is sad that something so special in your lives has made ladies so angry and bitter. i really hope for you that this time will be different.

I am very thankful for my DH. he is a loving husband and devoted father.

Morning ladies!

Glad to see all are doing well after the long weekend. :)

Just a quick update... I went for my amniocentesis on Thursday.
It was nerve wrecking!!
Dr. tried twice, both times failed. First attempt he put the needle through and I could see on the sonar that it actually went into the uterus, but when he tried to draw fluid there was nothing! Ugh.. they say that there are two membranes that they need to go through and sometimes it happens that the needle doesn't puncture the second membrane.
He tried again then a minute later and just as the needle was going to go through into the uterus the baby moved in under the needle... :S
So he withdrew the needle again and said that he doesn't think it will happen that day. I was very relieved because at that point I was a nervous wreck and was seeing flashes of how I'm going to flatten the dr if he tries to stick that needle in again.
It wasn't really very sore, but it was terrifying seeing the needle so close to my baby.
Afterwards my stomach hurt a bit, first puncture was burning and red and blue afterwards, but by now its much better.
Dr. said he can try again in a weeks time but I told him they won't see me again. Im not putting myself or my baby through that again. Ive made peace that it was not meant to be and that now God is in control like He has been from the start.
I'm okay with not knowing and just want my baby to be safe and okay. The rest I know will work itself out and all will be well.
I'm seeing my gynea again on Friday afternoon and will then breathe more easy after I've seen my baby again.
Thank you all for thinking of me and praying for us. I really do appreciate it.
