hi ladies

Cath my appoinment is next week sometime (must check the date!!!) so we'll see. I still have a small wound that is STILL trying to heal so DH has another week or 2 on his side!

As for the sleep training...well we are not doing it hectically. like we dont leave him to cry it out. As soon as he cries we tend to him, whether that is tapping his bum, putting in the dummy or picking him up and rocking him. But we do want him to get use to being in his own room so we thought doing the last feed before bedtime in his room is a good start. otherwise there is too much stimulation with noise, the lights on, TV going.
As for him being in his own cot and not in bed with us - it works way better. The aircon doesnt work properly in our room (VERY annoying!!) so it is boiling to say the least. last night I was drenched in sweat from the heat. So he sleeps better in his own room where the aircon does work. I tried putting him in bed with me this morning to try get a nap and within 30 minutes he was awake, screaming and soaking wet in sweat. Calmed him, put him in his cot and he slept for 2 hours. so ya...he needs to be in his room also for comfort!
DH doesnt really hear him anyway unless he is having a serious crying episode so he isnt too disturbed if he is in our room. but the heat is really an issue. I think we may even have to move to the spare room soon as it is just too hot in our room.
I also would love for him to fall asleep on my chest but he hates that!!!! He really just prefers to be wrapped, cradled and rocked to sleep and thats it. once he is asleep he wants to be put down. I have tried many times to keep him on my chest or carry on holding him and he gets so restless and agitated. I have no idea why.

EmsMom I am no longer trying to BF. those days are over. Just doing the pumping and bottle feeding although bottle feeding is now turning into as bad as the BF!! He is so fussy!!! (will post a video now now).

Cath those photos are too bloody cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! goodness he is such a gorgeous little boy :)

Schatsie I am so jealous of all your weight loss!!!! well done!! how is Arno's feeding today?

Ok so Matt had a total hysterical moment earlier. Eventually I decided to just give him his milk early and tried the nuk bottle (he usually uses tommee tippee-they were dirty still). well did he perform or what!!!!! he is so fussy!!! I made a video of his little tantrum over the nuk. ended up just washing the tommee tippee in soapy water and giving him the milk in that and voila! he's asleep. cant believe he can tell the difference and yes, he really knows which is his favourite. I have 4-5 different bottle brands because he has flavour of the week. so you never know which one he wants...and there is absolutely NO calming him unless you give him what he wants. otherwise I'm very chuffed with him. this morning he gave me lots of rest (once he was in his cot) and I even had time to shower and shave my legs!!!!

ok going to post the video and also some pics of MistyMom's gorgeous nu nu

Oh Cath isn't he too cute precious! I'm so glad he is doing so well, often I feel like I'm the only mom who doesn't have problems with her child, so I'm really glad to hear from others :)

Schatsie well done on the weight loss! BF is really fab for losing weight! As Helena Bonham Carter says: "People say, "You're still breast-feeding, that's so generous". Generous, no! It gives me boobs and it takes my thighs away! It's sort of like natural liposuction. I'd carry on breast-feeding for the rest of my life if I could."
Sorry you are not feeling well - seems the flu is doing the rounds. Increase your Vit C intake amd get tons of rest!

Schatsie I totally agree with you re teh top and bottom - I bought W a few sets (and by the way his outfit is supposed to be dungaree type although it looks a bit like a dress LOL!!! :)) but ja they are always riding up his back or his tummy - not ideal! I got this and a few others like it from marks and spencers online! They deilver to SA for GBP15 regardless of how much you buy - just be careful you can get caught on customs but if you aren't...well that outfit was I think 9 pounds?! And it's too cute! It says 'quack quack' on the back! Cute thing! Pls post more pics of Arno he is a gorgeous child too is it just me or are babies in general just becoming more and more beatific!!! William was beautifully behaved today what a champ!
Schatsie passing your pre pregnancy weight makes me very jealous - well done!!!!!!!!
LUcy hope Tessa feeling better soon soon.
Meags I am thinking of you but agree with Emsmom - doing sleep training now seems excessive and upsetting for you and M :( He only just started feeding so maybe focus on that and as Emsmom said dh can sleep elsewhere or even if you sleep in the room with M but maybe he is just not fortified enough to learn something new now? Thinking of you! Glad you shared with dh about feeling depressed and ja that is awful you had to wait so long for M hey? THat may even be the root of the breast feeding thing hey who knows. but YOU are doing great, when is your 6 week mark so you can see if dh is going to come to the party excuse the pun in the bedroom!

Cath those pics of William are TOO gorgeous! Where did you get that cute outfit? So far we have mostly given A babygrows to wear since I don't really like the 2 piece things where it is a separate pair of pants with a top cause their middles stick out all the time that way, but this outfit is ideal too!

Emsmom I eventually managed to get our room warm enough and put the aircon on every time we had to change his nappy. My mom also brought us a heater today, so that will help too. i also put on a baby sleeping bag for him and that works wonders. Does anyone else have those? I got it from a friend so am not sure where to get it, so I'm thinking of making a few of those for him, will see if I can get material for it tomorrow.

Betty I don't A is moving into our room at all - it's way more a past tense matter: he HAS moveD in. :)

AFM wow I passed my pre-pregnancy weight today. Let's hope this downward trend continues!! I must say that other than the obvious advantages for baby, this is another very good incentive to BF!!

Other than that my whole body has been sore since Monday. It feels like a very bad flu without any coughing or a runny nose. very strange indeed! My mom came back today to stay for a few more days, so hopefully I will feel better by the time she leaves.
