heart When ..... ?

RM: Interesting...what does this lick-stick cost?

I bought a whole box of ovulation tests when TTC for the first time.
The first month, I did a test on day 14 and it was positive, so told my husband, tonight is the night!!!! Shame, he was so dead tired, but I told him, sorry to hear about his problems!

I couldn't believe we fell pregnant the first time! My husband wasn't very happy because he thought we would be "trying" for a while since I only have 50% of my reproductive organs in working condition...

So, it seems as if those fertility tests can be very accurate!

good luck ladies!

Lollipop when I was trying to Isabelle, I was banging away at it for a year (literally and figuratively) and I just thought that either something was wrong, or I was doing it wrong, or I misunderstood the instructions on my box - or something, but enough already.

So I did a bit of googling as you do - and I recall I had seen an ovulating test somewhere. Listen, to be blatantly honest I was not even 100% sure what ovulating meant at the time.

So I looked for the test, but then I found an electronic one.

Basically how it works is you put it on your tongue first thing in the morning on the first day of your AF - you also key in some crap about your self before hand i.e.l age/weight/cycle length (clearly this only works or it works better if you have a standard cycle). ....

But anyway, against your tongue in the morning before you have anything to eat or drink - it takes about 1 - 3 seconds to take a reading.

Captures the information, and you pack it away, and repeat every morning.

I did it was I went to the toilet, and it took a reading before I dropped my knickers.

By day 3 it told me my "most fertile day" - and I thought was a bit dodgy. I can't recall if it said day 14 or what ever.

It has a little bar that builds up so that you can see as your fertility increases. Obviously if the stick decides it made a mistake it can then say "most fertile day 13" or what ever.

Mine stayed on day 14.

Did the lick a stick every day - day 14 swung around - it told me "Most Fertile Day" - we had sex once!

Kept licking it stick - next morning it showed fertility had dropped to say 3 bars instead of 4, and each day it dropped.

I kept licking the stick as it shows a history of your cycle and what ever, so you can download it and then take it along to your doctor if there is an issue.

End of 1st month, period due in morning did not arrive,l POS by 12h00 and had a line.

Hip fekn Hoo Ray!

Loved that! When I contacted Fertilitree and told them what had happened, they said that it was not uncommon that people fell pregnant in the first month or two from using it, because it was so dang accurate.

<obviously there could be other issues at play, but mine was that I did not chart correctly and kept missing my right day>

So that is my story ....

Oh, no, don't worry, no offense taken!! :) :) :)

I also use the ovulation tests from dischem.
On day 14 of your cycle (day 1 is the starting day of your period),
you pee on the ovulation stick. If you get 2 lines it means that ovulation is about to happen (about the next 24 hours or so) or has very recently happened. From experience, when both lines are equally dark, that indicates your are VERY CLOSE to ovulation.

Women often get "horny" (sorry, terrible word) with ovulation, so when you feel like jumping the plumber, you might also suspect ovulation.

Some women can also feel a pain on your ovary as the egg is being released, which can be quite painful.

Oh, it is quite common to have a very painfull ovulation in your first cycle off the pill.

RM, I like the idea of lick and stick, but does it tell you before you ovulate? Really want a girl this time around (hoping to pursuade DH to stick to 2 kids)

Usually you just look at the first day of your AF - mark it in your diary, and do that for about three months - you will usually see a common cycle - assuming you are regular i.e. mine is 28 days.

Obviously you can add the temperature thing and take your temperature (orally rather than anally - but what ever rocks your world) same time each day.

I believe when you are ovulating there is a slight/significant (depending on how hard to squint) change in temperature.

(Julz is the expert here, I recall her giving loads of detail on this on another thread)

I really take my hat off to girls who chart to fall pregnant/ovulate or what ever - I opted to buy a lick a stick electronic ovulation stick, as I really could not quite get it right.

Tried to chart for a year, without success, hired a lick a stick and in one month KAPOW! I do like a bit of electronics.

Gloei, sorry I wasn't second guessing, I just find his theory very interesting, and it is something that I have not really thought about.

Lol Jems, I thought that I would be one of the 1% as well- my mom was so fertile that she just walked past my dad's underwear on the washing line and she got knocked up.

Could I ask a really silly question, how would I plot a chart? Been looking at Calora's women calendar and they ask you how long your cycle is? Uhm, how do you work it out?

lollipop,
I am not expert, but this is what my doctor has said, he is also a fertlility expert, so, I kind of went with his advice, but having said that we all know of lots of babies that were conceived while women were on the pill or just after stopping the pill and their babies were all fine.

However the logic does make sense to me, since the hormones "fighting" or preventing a pregnancy are still in your body for a while, thus making a chance of a miscarriage higher.

But don't let that spoil your fun (the 2month waiting period)!!! practice runs ladies....just use a condom a few days before and after ovulation, and if you manage to get your ovulation dates wrong and fall pregnant, WELL, THEN IT WAS MEANT TO HAPPEN!
Don't stress about it.
