Chris and Julz thanks for your replies :)

Julz, I know life will change drastically, and I guess knowing that makes me a little nervous! Wish I didnt know ;)

Chris, I understand EVERYTHING you say and agree with it!
I do agree it's nice to come and go as you please, do what you want, travel without excess baggage etc. And this is a great point.

As for the leaving baby with nanny thing, also agree on this, that one has a baby because you want to be a parent entirely. But is doing this maybe 2 times in 6 months a bad thing?? isn't it the same as going out for a dinner and leaving the baby with a babysitter?

As for the socialising, at the moment it's difficult as DH's colleagues are younger than both of us so they are very much in the party stage!! But when/if we go to Miami, the colleagues there are already late thirties so it's a different crowd. so in that case, I guess the socialising would be different to how it is here.

and as for looking after other babies, yes it is great  i really do love it very much :) but nothing seems to be filling this little space in me!!! I so badly want to be pregnant, experience everything, give birth and have my own baby that i dont have to give back to anyone else. that desire to have a baby is just not going away! it just becomes more and more intense

No Im not stalking you, just not very busy at work.

1) I always wanted kids and DH and I said that we would be married for +-3 yrs before trying, 3 yrs turned out be 1 and a half, we are not the jolling type, we had done that already befor emarriage but wanted to spend time together as husband and wife before going the next level. We wanted to travel to overseas, but we never had the opportunity (not sure if we will now for quite a few years).

2) I have yet to see if we can travel, I dont think it is a problem until you are much further in your pregnancy

3) Do you mean Socialise while being pregnant or with a baby? Yes you can, obviously you cannot do all the wild things you did before and drink yourself silly, but you can socialise being pregnant or with baby. I think it makes it easier on our side cos all our friends have children, so if you are the first in your group it might make it a bit more difficult, but it depends where you go and what you do.

My personal opinion, (in most/some cases as I understand some girls have oopsies), but if you are married, having a baby will separate you and draw the line taking you to the next level as a couple. I know a friend who is 40, who likes children, but him and his wife have never decided to do the child thing and he said to me that they still see eachother as these young jollers who can come and go as they please and not really the 'settled' type.

I dont think it is a problem to take a nanny with you, but I dont think it is fair to baby if you want this baby but leave it with nanny to look after so you can still carry on with your life. We generally have babies knowing that it is our full resposibilty to look after them as a mother should and not leave it in the arms of another because you haven't finished with your life.

You are still young, luckily, so if you want to enjoy your travels with DH, I think you should as the opportunity wont be as easy with a baby as its your bags plus a WHOLE lot more to carry for baby and also you are limited to do as many things as you would when travelling alone. Especially if you land up with twins or triplets, the opportunity is a foot out the door already.

I am so happy that DH and I got to share each other properly before takign the next big step. like marriage, babies are for life. It was so nice to come and go as we please, whatever time we wanted go where ever and eat and drink whatever. I was ready for a baby before he was but I waited cos he still wanted to enjoy more and honestly he was a bit scared.

As much as it makes you more broody when working with other babies, you get the opportunity to work with babies and a reminder of what you have to look forward, you can enjoy looking after babies knowing that you and dh can still fully enjoy eachother and your travels and you can practise making babies overseas. That would've been very ideal for me, lol. Or you can have your baby but will ber very different as holiday wont be jolling holiday but family holiday.

Ok, so my essay is my opinion, take it, leave it or whatever, my 10c worth, but I think you will figure out exactly what you want to do.

We will never be done travelling, but I did go out when preggies and did go for trips. You can fly but need a certificate in your last trimester to say it is okay for you to do so.

You should do what you feel you need to to try to maintain your life like you want it and to have a child, but make no mistake it will change your life in a huge way.

Hi Ladies

Well there is exciting news! DH and I are officially on the TTC journey (or so we have discussed!)

I just have a couple of questions:
1) When you wanted to TTC, were you finished partying, travelling etc?
2) When pregnant, did you manage to travel a lot? Like locally, not long distance flights.
3) Were you still able to socialise and go out (obviously without drinking)?

These are strange questions, I know...but DH wants to travel so much (we may be going to Miami where the chance to travel USA would be great!!) and I am worried if I fall pregnant, that I will put an end to his dreams to travel USA.

Also:
1) If we have a baby, is it selfish/unrealistic/unacceptable to have a professional nanny travel with us so that if we want to go out in the evenings, we can leave the baby with her?

When it comes to my feelings about TTC, I want a baby. I know I wont be able to drink and party as much etc, and I feel ok with that as currently I hardly party so I don't see much changing in my life! I am always designated driver so I guess that will also stay the same!
