are you using ordinary soap powder Gerne? You must try not too as it causes a soap residue. You can try using a combination of 1/2 cup vinegar and 3 tablespoons Bicarbonate of soda in you rince cycle to stip the nappies of the soap, you may have to do it a few times. This will not be from the dry bucket. the mateial also shouldn't make a difference. Rather use a soap free product like enchantrix or Tripple orange or bio Ball.

Gerne, Perhaps rinse the nappies before putting in the dry bucket. That's what I do. I use Cherub Tree and sometimes Bam+Boo. I have small bucket of water on compactum which I use to rinse the inners in then I throw it in the dry bucket.

Gerne, i only use cloth, i have half a pack of disposables left from hospital and another unopened pack that i got from the medical aid. But i'll use them wjen we sleep out or give the unopened pack away when another of my friends have a baby.

Sarah, we miss you in the Oktober group! I have never used the terry squares, so can't help you there. My BM fits like a charm on my LG. But she is big for a newborn. They are smaller than the Stegi ones, so its funny that they don't fit for you. But I fold them in the boy fold way as I used that for my LB and it will be very confusing for hubby and the nanny if they have to start folding the nappies for the two kids differently... they just won't do it!

Gerne, maybe try soaking them in steri nappy once a month. I soak my nappies (not covers) in sunlight hand wash powder and has never had a stinky nappy! But with both kids on cloth nappies I wash every second day or else the bucket gets to full.

I have my hands full with both kids, but will try taking some pics tonight...

Quick question, my LB's nappies have now started to stink . They smell like wee. Could it be because I put them in a dry bucket? The stegi is still okay but the ones I made myself really stinks bad. Wonder if its the material I used.

I don't know but I am thinking of throwing away the home made ones.

Any advice ladies?

Is anyone using plain old folded terry nappies? I've used cloth since Skye came home from the hospital and loving it. I have Stegi, BM and muslin and terry squares and 2 AIO. So far, the Muslin squares fit her the best, then the Stegi. The BM are still too big for her, I don't like them right now but will see in a month or 2 how they fit. Dying to try my AIO nappies, but they are still too big for her around the legs! And despite what anyone says, I find cloth just as quick as disposables (and I've changed PLENTY kids!) I take my time though and give my little girl some bare bum time whilst I rinse her nappies which she loves
