Juno,my mum spoonfeeds him and I do blw at home. She'll have way too much to say wrt blw.I gave him the screws last night, plain and some mixed with squash. It kept slipping out of his hand but he handled them nicely though.I also bought oli biscuits, also found them too hard and sour.Where do you buy Organix products.Claudia,so far he has had 1banana and 1 pear otherwise mainly veggies.I tøo dont want him to develop a sweet tooth.Wrt avo,I dont let it get too ripe then slice it lengthwise,I also mix it with cereal.

Such cute pics of all the babies!

I haven't posted for a while but am quite a regular reader.

I've now got a feeding method that is working really well for us. Because my baby is used to getting a lot of nutrients from pureed food, which I started at 4 months, I couldn't just move him onto whole food. So I experimented until I found a method that worked for him. He still gets his meals but we also have a "play" session afterwards and then he gets whole food for snacks during the day. As he starts taking more in I will then start reducing the puree. He just loves his whole food and is always eager to taste no matter what it is. We're actually both having a lot of fun.

I gave my baby peas for the first time tonight and he was unable to get even one into his mouth :( he was sooo frustrated.

Claudia I can highly recommend the Organix brand. Their biscuits are of the "melt in the mouth" variety. I found the Oli biscuits quite hard and not as tasty.

Memo wrt to the dried mango does it get wet enough that they can swallow it or does Jude just chew on it?

Cherrie did you try the pasta screws? That's also a favourite with us.

Nayeela: Sometimes the pic wont load if its too big, try resizing it and it should be fine:)

Cherrie: Mmm pear:) After the banana I'm trying to avoid sweet fruits and starting with veggies so that he doesnt land up like I was as a child (the dog ate most of my veggies when my parents werent looking). Even now I'm not a huge fan of a big variety of vegetable, but I force myself to eat as much as possible - I MUCH prefer fruit!

Memo: How do you prepare your veg mostly?? I steam carrots, brocolli, cauliflour etc and usually roast butternut, pumkin or make it into a soup. I've never cooked things like brinjals, corgette etc because I have no idea how to? I make a lot of stews and stirfrys to disguise vegetable, so am now trying the meat and two veg thing to make it easier to feed James.

James had butternut today. He seemed to like it, but I dont think I cooked it long enough because I think it was a bit too hard for him. He landed up sucking it like he did the toast:)

How should I give avo? Its very mushy so will be difficult to pick up on its own.

Bought some ollie baby biscuits today (OMW they arent cheap), and I'll try give him those tomorrow. Also bought some double cream plain yogurt from woolies. Apparently if there is no food allergy in your fam its okay to give right from the word go, so I'm going to see how he does with a pre loaded spoon!
Apparently a really nice desert for older babies on a hot day - mash some banana and mix with the yogurt, put into icelolly molds and freeze. Am def going to try that in summer (think it would be nice and cool on teething gums)

Claudia, he's adorable!!! I love watching Jude eat!! He likes well everything, he sometimes gags at the first bites, but still goes back for more! O yes, paw paw, dried mango, brussel sprouts (I cut these in half and they are actually quite a hit), hates cauliflower (my mom loves watching how disgusted he gets with it), likes avo, broccoli he doesn't really eat, well not the flowery part, oooo loves carrots!
I'm also not quite ready to just give him what I eat, so for now I just give him whatevers going whole and then make it yummier for me. (hehe)
