Marijke,I gave Tristen banana &rice cereal mixed with stewed apple. The enjoyed the banana which he ate by himself, but when I gave him the cereal he pulled faces and kept it just behind his gums, then pushed it out.The next day I gave him avo slices and mxed some with cereal. He swallowed some. But thè following days he didnt swallow anything just kept the food in his mouth and pushed it all out when the nxt lot came in.I gave him a drumstick on sat,he just sucked it and when it fell apart a big piece was blocking his airway.Het so groot geskrik!...How do u get them to swallow food?Do they learn as the get along?I feed him a few tsps of mashed veggies then let him have the bowl,he shoves his hand into it then sucks it off his fingers. My mum says that he cant feed himself how else is it gona get into his tummy.Others say i must let him starve then hell eat his food.I dont do either.Should I just continue with 'our' way of doing things and not involve them?

Okay so yesterday I was eating a banana and James tried to grab it from me, so i thought hey why not try and see what e does. I put him in his bumbo and gave him some banana. He seemed to enjoy it, but I think it was a little to slippery for him once the peel came off. Was vey funny. His nappy this morning was not funny however:( I think the banana all came out the other end. Pretty gross for a mommy who is used to breastmilk poos! (I thought banana causes constipation - they recommend it for babies with upset tummys, so I cant believe it passed through so quick!)

AM going to try give him some food this afternoon. Will pst some pics!

@MommyN. Boots sells the organic baby ones, but you can also get salt free stock cubes from holland and barrett, as well as asda and sainsburies:) Boots will probably be the easiest!

Memo, no, pasty is fine, babies even strain for runny teething poos sometimes. Constipation will be hard pebble like balls of poo that smells - well, you can guess - and usually it rolls around and lands on the floor or something disgusting like that!

Sorry TMI!
