I have coffee in hand and feel a bit better now.
Here's how I see it. Like every other thread about controversial topics around I feel you can't put down anyone elses choice or have an opinion about their choice if you haven't tried it. For example *(and please don't make this into a new fight to start in this thread)* I feel no one can comment on the natural vs c-sec debate if they haven't had experience with both (or all three since emergency c-sec is different to scheduled c-sec)
I have tried spoon feeding. It got me no where, my LG wanted her independence and I didn't want to stand in her way. I am OCD, type A call it what you want, I would feel better if every spoon of food was weighed and calories calculated but I guess in this instance mother nature found a way to teach me to let go. To trust my child. As small as she seemed at the time she knew better than I had ever imagined. And after reading the book it just dawned on me how natural a process this was.
At some point I had a discussion with RM and she said she couldn't do it because her baby has an over active gag reflex (even went to the doctor with it) and pukes for anything not smooth. And I agree with her that in that instance purees would be a better option.
Again, BLW isn't something I sucked out of my thumb and has been around longer than blenders. And Yes, I am proud, perhaps of myself because I saw that the other way wasn't going to work and tried something different and I share my experience here (for those who are interested)
