Hi ladies,

Sorry to bust in here :) This thread is so awesome! I had a natural hypnobirth myself, but boy did I have to fight for it. I'm really happy to read that more and more women are attempting VBACs!

Rags and Eve - yaaay :) How exciting that you are both TTC for no. 2 and planning a vbac! We'll probably start early 2013, if all goes as planned.

Eve, if I remember correctly you were with Dr. M with Connor, hey? I was with his buddy Dr. G and it seems like they are a sort of syndicate cause almost every pregnancy /birth they "manage" ends the same way!

I can only recommend Beautifully Born to both of you (and everyone else)!!! Nef does offer regular courses at Birth Options and she's just the best :) And I've only heard good things about Dr. Dumbrill, too! Shame, the poor man probably has to put in many night shifts nowadays as he's very much in demand :)

Good luck!

Miss you all

Hey

I've looked at the email again and Angela attached quite a few docs as well (which I haven't actually opened) so maybe I can just forward it onto you.

The email also recommends that I do the hypnobirthing course.

Angela is also on Facebook as Angela the midwife and she posts info on there as well.

Hey Rags

I'll check the email again but I do remember she said I must make an appointment with either Dumbrill or the female gynae at VP and have a pap smear because I didn't go back to my gynae for the checkup after I had Connor.

She said it's great that I'm planning so far in advance because natural birth isn't something that just happens, it needs to be planned.

I'll check email and paste here what she said (just not at pc now)

Cheers!

Evestyles - Please would you share the information you got from Angela the midwife wrt steps to be taken.

You and I seem to be in the same situation, I have done my research and have met with Ciska Van Straten from Birth Options but still in the planning stages.

Hi everyone,

I'm so glad I came across this forum for VBAC support :) Anni, many congratulations on the birth of your little one and on your successful vbac! I haven't had a chance to read through everyone's stories yet.

I am also wanting to attempt vbac with my second one. I am now 7 weeks pregant - very early still. I am seeing a midwife from growth spurts when I'm 16 weeks, and hoping to give birth at Genesis.

I gave birth to my little girl on August 19th (almost a year ago), via emergency c-section. I was induced at 41 weeks and after 8 hours of labour (and being induced again), I was only 1 cm dilated and baby started stressing so I was wheeled off to the theater for a c-section. I was in tears the entire time.

Now my second pregnancy happened much earlier than expected. Our contraceptive failed :S but none the less we are very exited!

Hey ladies

Kiewiet - that does sound fantastic!! I wish our hospitals were like that - mention something and then you get treated accordingly ;)

I've heard from Angela the midwife from Birth Options and she has given me the next steps to follow.

Joybaby - when I told DH that I want to do hypobirthing and give active birth - his first question was "Why don't you just get cut again?" he says it's easier and more convenient - you'd swear he's my previous gynae. I think actually he just doesn't want any gross stuff and therefore find it easier just watching the csection (although that's pretty gross itself). He's supportive though and I told him we both have to do the course together.

Missesmom - thanks so much for the info and offer - I will definitely put it into my notes. I have so much prep already so feel very prepared so far.

Since when do you have to pay in for a csection - that's ridiculous!!

I hope you're all well!

Ah wow Kiewiet, sounds like you are on the right track!! Michelle is lovely!! Just like her to train the hospital staff in HypnoBirthing, she's a very efficient lady. You can't go wrong getting her as your doula if you want a doula.

Missy, I strongly recommend any kind of contact with Michelle, she also does post natal care, infant massage and lots more.
