Hi Missy!

I'm with Dr Pierre Potgieter at St Georges Hospital. There are others it sounds like who support normal birth, but I don't know if they support VBAC. I did the Hypnobirthing course this weekend with Michelle vd Westhuizen from PE Babynet @ Intercare, Kings Court - she would be able to tell you. I would also very highly recommend that you do hypnobirthing. contact Michelle at michelle@pebabynet.co.za

She said that all the staff at the labor ward at St Georges has done the hypnobirthing course, and when I rock up to have the baby I should tell them that I did the hypnobirthing as they treat hypnobirthing mommies different - labor goes quicker and they respect the hypnobirthing way because it works. Apparently at Greenacres it's a much different picture and they don't cater as well for normal birthing.

Michelle is both a doula and a midwife and she's very sweet! If you don't know about hypnobirthing or if your husband is funny about it when you do find out - there's NOTHING weird about it and it seems most husbands are sceptical until proven otherwise! You are very welcome to drop me a private message if you'd like some support from closeby. I'm pretty clued up myself after doing some research and I'm not scared at all even after having a really bad experience with my previous pregnancy and birth exprerience! Hypnobirthing will give you a better chance of a VBAC because if you are relaxed and your body is working as it should, then chances are even smaller of the risk of your scar taking pressure or something else going wrong.

Hi girls

Sorry I havent been on here much the last few weeks.
I'm glad this thread is still going strong :)
Hasie thanks for your continued input and thx to all the mammas for their inspirational stories!

I went for my 27 week scan last week and was very relieved to hear baby is lying head down (was down at 20w, up at 22w and now down again :) and the placenta is high up far out of anyones way.
Baby has gotten so big now that I can feel elbows and knees and punches and kicks everywhere!

Eve I'm soooo glad to see you here :) Shew I remember your first experience clearly, with gynae telling you baby was way bigger than he really was! And he really scared you all for nothing!
Dr Dumbrill is highly recommended for VBacs and so is VP in general.

Sorry for not commenting further, I cant see beyond the first page now.
Elamsmom hope you have made peace with the options you have and you will feel best for sticking with your guns in the end!

Dh isn't amazingly supportive of natural, he is a bit scared. With Csec he likes the 'controlled' environment. But I've also reminded him we may have big pay in's as our silly medical aid have changed their scheme rules so much this year. That natural will definitely also be a better financial option for us.
Gynae is seeing us again only at 33 weeks, and then again at 36 where we'll discuss it again. He is still aware of my desire for a vbac though and at the moment it does seem like a possibility.

First angel resting 25/06/2009 stayed with us a short 7 weeks but we still miss you.

Thanks so much!

I have to tell you a funny story. I have a male gynae... Leading up to the birth my gynae says i have to book the aneast... dont even know how to spell it... for the epidural... and i am like, no i am not having an epidural! He says as a first time mum i will definitely have an epidural and i say to him, oh and out of which hole did you push a baby?!?!

He had a different kind of respect for me after the birth!

Well done for you!! So few people actually reads up about labor and birth, most just rely on their gynie for all their info. You are a smart lady!!
