Hi ladies,
It seems as if this thread has gone very quiet... I think all the successful VBAC moms are enjoying their little ones and may not be popping in here that regularly.
Unfortunately I can't comment on all the doctor's everyone listed here but perhaps we can chat here about our VBAC journeys?
It would be great if we can just offer support as it seems as if it is very hard to find a doctor that is pro VBAC!
I had my LG 5 years ago and 6 months prior to having her I had a very traumatic ectopic pregnancy and a very traumatising hospital experience. All of this made me reluctant to want to try for a natural birth (although this is what I always wanted). At 36 weeks pregnant my doctor said that he would feel more comfortable with a c-sec since he said that my baby isn't dropping down in my pelvis at all. I know now that this is not a reason to do a c-section as babies often only descend while in labour. Ever since hearing about other moms c-sections going horribly wrong (one lady died in a top private hospital) I have come to realise that a c-section is MAJOR ABDOMINAL SURGERY. What I hated about the c-section was the effect the pain medication had on me in the first few days. I was completely zonked - my tongue was slurring, I struggled to pick up my baby and felt so drugged that my baby didn't sleep with me the first 2 nights (I still have severe guilt about this). The pain afterwards was frustrating and having to take painkillers the whole time felt horrible. I really struggled to bond with my baby and I can't help but to wonder if this was due to the c-section.
I have left me previous Gynea that refuses to consider a VBAC and I am seeing a new Doctor at Femina hospital pta tomorrow and hope that he will be willing to do a VBAC if all looks good.
I am going to do the hypnobirthing course too and can't wait to get started with that!!
I already know Nels_n as we are due in the same month (april 2015), but look forward to chatting to all the other VBAC hopefuls!
