Morning ladies!

How are you all feeling today?

@ Ladysa - did you have you 1st scan and when do you start the injections? I hope all went well and that you've been able to start this exciting (yet scary) journey!

@Liza - Prof also advised I could have a cup or two of coffee each day if I had to, so I don't think drinking your early morning cup should make much difference. Have you tried decaff instead? Must say the rooibos is getting to me too now, so will have to start looking at alternatives :pinch:

@Chanti - it's great that you have such a supporting hubby who understands the moods! I think it's hard on them too cause they're walking on eggshells! But it's all part of the process.

My body feels a bit tired today, the areas where I've been injecting this week are getting tender and had slight cramp type pain in my abdomen area when I woke up this morning, but other than that...full steam ahead! 5 sleeps till my next scan to see how my body reacted to the injections and how the growth is going :)

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
x

Hi ladies!

@Liza - I still have 1-2 cups a day and I dont think I will go less than that, I think they generally recommend no more than 2 which means 1-2 should be okay. I know you don't like rooibos but perhaps try it with a little honey?

@LadySA - You are not delusional, its totally normal to have hopes like that! Every now and then I imagine going for a scan and the Dr telling me I am already preg! We have to hope.... Good luck with the injections!!! I have no idea yet what meds we will be using. Enjoy the smoothies!

@Leez - How lucky to not have any side effects!!! Grow babies grow!!

AFM, think my body is having a natural progesterone surge at the moment on top of my Visanne so my boobies are soooo sore! Interested to see what the hormones will do to me as I have been on progesterone for the last year which has been pretty interesting to say the least! At the moment I am going through an angry phase... just angry for no reason  atleast DH makes light of it and makes me laugh, he knows just how to handle me!!!!

20 sleeps to our first app!!!!

Hi Ladies!

Hope all of you are doing good today!

So i need to ween myself from coffee and it is definitely a huge struggle for me! I don't drink any tea's neither do i drink hot chocolate!

I know i need to try some sort of herbal tea and keep to it in order for me to stop with the coffee completely!

What are you guys using? I'm going to Dischem this afternoon to have a look at what they have as i would really like to stop with the coffee starting tomorrow.

that great new Leez! i am so glad. I am also worried about headaches, as i have a tendency for them, and not allowed to take anything except panado while on Gonal F. I just made my appointment for CD7 scan as my period started this morning. Here we go!
some silly part of me was still hoping it would come and i would have a surprise natural pregnancy (yes im so ridiculously dillusional :( and naive)

I wasnt given Lucrin, just the gonal F, i read that gonal F same as menopur but without mixing, just a straight pen needle shot. and i have to take between 9am & 6pm, so because of work, hubby is injecting me tomorrow at 5.30pm.

we are both the biggest wuss'es ever! and when we did the ovidrel once at home, he had to prep himself up just to inject me and kept saying, ok, right hun, u ok? im gonna do this now, please be ok, be a strong girl, u can do this. then afterwards he popped himself on the couch and said to himself, wow, i did this, i am so good!!! hahaha it was hilarious!

im glad no tummy swelling, i read some women have it bad especially with hyper ovarian stimulation, but they have me on a small dosage so i really am hoping all goes well.
Its completely normal to be emotional. if i even have to talk about having to go through this i want to cry. i really hope that this will work. i think women like us really take a toll and theres nothing worse.

Hi Ladysa,

I'm actually feeling really good. I'm on day 6 of the IVF cycle (and day 4 of injections) but I can't really say its affected me. I had a headache the entire day yesterday but other than that, no hassles.

Injections need to be done every morning before 8 (at the same time every day) so I opted for 7am.
I'm doing 0.20ml Lucrin in my tummy around the belly button. Burns a little with the shot and stays red a short while. This shot I give myself.
And then Menopur which I mix before injecting in my buttocks area (this one I need help with). Current cocktail is 3 vials powder (each contain FSH 75 IU and LH 75 IU) to one ampoule fluid.

I keep taking this until the 12th of October, when I do a scan and then Prof will decide how to amend the meds.

Can't say I've noticed any swelling over my tummy, but its early days so it might still happen. And Prof warned of possible breast tenderness, but nothing so far. Am definitely a little emotional...but that is understandable!!

Evening Ladies :)

my day today was a sooo busy, i didnt even have a chance to log-in.
i didnt get the "diet foods" last night, instead hubby and I went for sushi and wine - the 2 things we're supposed to abstain from eeek  , but as soon as my period starts we start the injection on CD2 and thats it...no more
i got the diet foods today though and i made my smoothie. Kale, apples, carrots, ginger, half a cup of strawberry juice and that was just because i had some left over. its a green grose concoction! but its worth a try, i didnt manage to get the maca powder from dischem. and i got some fruits and lots of different berries. my period was due today, but it will probably start tomorrow and injection on Friday.

i used to take staminogro (4 at night), folic acid tablets (1 a day), viabotics pregnacare preconception, and last month i took biofertil for 30 days and it finished on Monday, i didnt get another one as i start with the IVF treatment this week. Ive even used pre-seed. Hubby was on proxeed for 6 months even though he has no issues and this was before i found out i had major issues. Now im only on viabotics pregnacare preconception.

my total IVF is costing 42k. i paid the 22k deposit, next payment due at aspiration and final payment at transfer date i think? hopefully the eggs will be good and then they freeze, so if this fails (i have had so much failure, i am preparing for worst, next round will around 7k using frozen embryos.

@Leez, i wanted to ask how you are feeling, in terms of injections, what are you taking on what days and dosage? and have you noticed swelling around tummy, I havent told a soul we're doing IVF except my boss whi has utmost discretion and i need the time off work. but i am about55kgs and short and worried about people noticing a boop, and it not being a baby boop.

Hi Liza, welcome to the thread.

I think our situations and reason for IVF is the same, I'm healthy but my husband has low sperm count so I'm really hoping that the IVF works 1st time as we don't have enough saved up for another round!

I started injections on Monday and have managed to leave the coffee (with a struggle since I still had a cup on Monday but not since then). Luckily with the warmer weather, upping water intake gets easier. I'm a little more frustrated with the limited amount of exercise, I love running but have been advised to only walk for 30min each day (slowly) so this is taking some getting used to!!

Also Omega and Staminogro as supplements. The 1st batch of injections for 10 days (which will last me until the 12th of October for my 1st scan) cost R8,230.

Good luck for the process!
