Pinky, Emily's also having a rough few days. She has cut another tooth and it looks like one of the big guys is trying to emerge. Poor gum is so swollen and red. But you now how it goes - up and down again.

If I didn't have Letty I would have a breakdown every day!!! I'm working today and asked her to come in because Mark had something on and there's NO way I could juggle work and her. It's hard hard hard - especially when you're trying to do everything on your own and feel like you're getting nowhere with everything. People who've never been there don't have a clue what it's like. And I take my hat off to you for being such a good mother. I had Monday and Tuesday off and I gallivanted both days, leaving Emily at home with Letty and everybody kept saying what a terrible mother I was, and for the first time all year, I didn't give a shit. They were my days off, and damn I needed it! That little time away from her made me miss her so much, and appreciate her so much.

You wouldn't by any chance be keen for help the first week in June? We're going to Comrades on the 27th and then to the Pilanesburg the week after that, so Letty's free if you just want to get things done? You're just round the corner from us, so it's not like she'll have to travel any further.

Des, you've been on my mind a lot!! You'd better keep us posted on those scans. What do you think it is? I reckon it's a girl!! There is a test you can do - like a pregancy test - that will tell you the sex, and they're supposed to be quite accurate?? Don't worry about the preggy talk. You'll let us relive our glory days ;)

Bronz, can't wait to see pic of Graeme's birthday party. Enjoy your day, and come and update us when you have a gap.

You ladies are making me feel very old with all this talk of turning 30. Once this stupid research is out the way I'm going to make up for lost time!!

Hi ladies!!!

Des, I am so happy for you guys!!! You are doing such a wonderful job with Connor, I am sure the 2nd one is just lucky to have a mommy like you!! You will be a great mommy of 2!!!

ScribblingAl - the studies are going VERY slow!!!

Karla is driving me up the wall this past week! No sleeping, No eating, just fussing and moaning and screaming... she is just like a newborn with colic!!! hahaha... I had a bit of a breakdown yesterday, cried the whole day... now this afternoon she was with my mom, so I had some me time!!! Last night I had a maximum of 45 minutes sleep!!! I feel useless!

One upside is Karla is officially standing up on her own and walking towards us and tables and so forth!! My little baby is WALKING!!!

I am also turning 30 this year... in about a month... still don't know what to do... we will probably just go out with some friends to a restaurant... I told hubby it is his responsibility to organise something for me... hehehe...

Have a fab weekend ladies!

Hey ladies!!

So, I've gotten over the shock of this pregnancy now...he he....and its slowly starting to sink in :)

I am 23 weeks along this week .... and am feeling regular movement and the heartburn has really started up, blegh - everyday, its awful!!

I have a fetal assessment scan booked for the 26th May.....BUT...I've also managed to get a scan booked with Peek a Babe for Monday coming, soooooooooooo....will hopefully know if this is a pink or blue pregnancy!! It still feels very surreal that this is all hapenning, but, I have to now just go with the flow!

@Scribbling...I actually did post under the Aug/Sep 2011 mommies group, BUT, dont think I'll be a regular there....think I'll rather stick around here and hopefully I wont annoy you all with my pregnancy talk, he he if I do, please feel free to smack me over the head!!

Happy Birthday 1st Birthday to Graeme!!! and Bronz....well done on that cute little man of yours....Can't wait to see you guys tomorrow, Connors been missing his bestie!!

Ladies, hope you are all well otherwise, will catch up with you soon.

Wow - things have been quiet here. I took a week's leave to work on this ghastly research proposal (and only missed the deadline by few days - had to ask for an extension from Friday to Sunday) and had a meeting with my supervisors this morning, and they didn't throw it out the window. Yeehah! It still needs a bit of work but finally things are moving along.

How are all the studies coming along? Pinky? Bronz? Have you guys finished writing?

Beansmom, I had to laugh at your dirty 30s idea. I'm afraid my 30s have been the antithesis of "dirty". However, we are starting to plan a decent holiday, just need to decide where to go now. Only problem is leaving madam for an extended period of time. Still a little clingy, I'm afraid. So as for ideas of 30ths, I'm not going to be much help. But it looks like you have loads of ideas - and all your events have been divine. Can't wait to hear what you come up with. Did you manage to find a venue?

When are you ladies planning on stopping formula? I've introduced a bit of dairy ad soya milk, but am a bit scared to stop the formula, seeing as it has all the nutrients etc and she's doing so well foodwise. Also it's such an easy way to keep her hydrated. Lazy Mama.

Des, how's the pregnancy coming along? Have you joined another "mommies by months" thread?? You'll have to copy and paste your posts so we can stay updated ;)

Claudia_B, we'll be in your neck of the woods at the end of the month for Comrades. Didn't find a Durban company that hired out baby stuff but hired a car seat with the car and am hoping the hotel will have a cot. May just bring her push chair on the plane. Crossing thumbs that Madam behaves. Have horrible images of her screaming an entire hotel of runners awake at 2am.

@ ClaudiaB - That is a lovely idea for the 30th... We have Cape Town winter to keep in mind here as well, and no indoor venues good enough for more than 50 adults and kids :(
I liked the idea "When I grow up" and you dress up what you wanted to be when you were younger... but we are probably going to be using the Italian club with other diners.. so not sure how keen people will be to dress up!?

Hi all:) I know, our babas are coming along in leaps and bounds - I'm also feeling a bit sad about it!

James' birthday party was small but lovely. The fondant icing was not as easy to work with as it sounds and I was swearing trying to ice the cake, but it turned out okay:) Plus my aversion to artificial colourants definitely made my life difficult, because I landed up using tumeric for the yellow colouring and mixing the powder with the fondant icing wasnt too easy - never mind the cocoa story.

My excitement for the week? James is now allowing me to tp put him in his cot to go to sleep. I have to stay in the room and gently pat him, but no more rocking/nursing to sleep at bedtime. He just started on his own (no horrid sleep training) and I feel like the proudest mom for it:)

Beansmom, some 30th's Ive been to:
Togas and Gladiators
Mexican
Hawaian Luau
Shirt and Hat
70's (because a 70's baby) - so you could go for an 80s theme?

Its my hubbys 30th coming up soon too and I'm also starting to organise, but we are doing an afternoon/evening spitbraai in a child friendly location because all our friends now have kids and it just makes everyones lives easier to not have to organise a sitter. Hubby will play golf in the morning and I think we're going with the kids party theme, so no dress up, but we'll organise goody bags, have a jumping castle (for the kids/men), balloons etc:) Just struggling to find a good venue in durbs...

Hello ladies...

I've been a bit scarce lately... things have been hectic... You You has been off work so to speak for the last 2 and a half weeks due to her son being sick... she worked 1 day... so I've been running around like a mad thing with Tayla in tow... or my niece luckily had a few spare days where she wanted to earn some cash and just watched T while I got some work done... Its amazing how much I've missed her!!!! Doing the cleaning, and looking after Tayla and still trying to get orders done is just insanely impossible!

Anyhoo... enough of that...

@ScribblingAl... It is amazing the rate at which the developments are happening in the little ones at the moment. Tayla is also hiding things - just not behind her back... but in toy barrels, under furniture etc.. so we've already spend the good part of 24 hours looking for a remote! Tonight while she was eating dinner our one cat walked up to just next to her... so she put her hand out and the cat nudged her... well - she was in histerics... laughing fit of note and just couldn't control herself. Hubby and I just had to sit back and laugh with her while she spat food all over in the laughter.... Such a little rubbish :)

I've also had my emotional moment when dressing my little pudding and seeing she is no longer a baby... but a little girl... Mixed emotions... i miss the baby... not he screaming and all that nonsense... but just the baby phase... but am also so proud of how she is turning out so far! IT does scare me though at how time has just flown... before I know it she is going to be going to school, dating, driving... getting married!!!! Sjoe!

Ok... before i sign off... i need some ideas!!! Hubby's 30th is next month... we are doing it at a restaurant because there are 50 ppl... I need theme ideas... so far i've thought of the dirty 30's... but don't know where to go with this!? Also thought of Black white and bling... but its also been done... any new exciting ideas out there?
