I just have to tell you all that Luke cut his 5th tooth yesterday! WOWEEEEEE....

It was a 4th one on Sunday and a 5th one Monday! Again no runny tummy or runny nose and yesterday he was not niggly!

Good morning mommies... Hope you all had a good weekend!

I had a weekend from HELL! ...

Luke cut his 4th tooth yesterday - no indication what so ever that there was a tooth coming - except the moodiness all weekend (did not know it was the tooth tho - so I feel a little bad).

Bronz - I have been giving Luke half a teaspoon of Scotts Emulsion since he was about 9 months old (should be using it from a year but was advised that it I can give him a little bit every day if he is under a year)...

Bronz - its awesome when they start to do little things like clapping etc... Luke waves bye bye and I am sure that he is saying bye too - it sound like he says it when he waves. Its just too cute. Watching him meet all his milestones is really wonderful!

Lukes newest... is pushing a kitchen chair all around the kitchen (there is a walker but he is still too clumsy with it)... So the kitchen chair will do!

Luke is being baptized on the 24th of April - I decided Id invite close friends and family only cos next month is his 1st Birthday and that is gonna be a big one...

Hey ladies

Wow life has been hectic. We drive back down to CPT on thurs, we were meant to stay over but the place we were going to stay in was really terrible so just drove through. Got here at 9:30.

Jacadebra: Congrats on the Job and good luck for tomorrow. I am sure this will be a big adjustment. I am not looking forward to it.

Desiree: I promise this is the right decision for Connor at this point on time! Enjoy having mom down. Oh and you are on the top of my to do list for next weekend. So we must make a plan.

Zulu thats terrible! Happy to hear she is well again. I hate it when babies are sick.

He points at every thing now. Climbs off the couch / bed - nearly pooped myself when he did it the first time. He can finally clap - did it for the first time yesterday.

My mom showed him a tick tock and taught him what it is. He is now in love with clocks. If you show him a picture or the real thing he gets all excited and grins from ear to ear.

Any one giving a multivitamin?

Des - if your mom is quite an active lady who doesn't mind loud music etc - she can even take him to Toptots or whatever once a week. When I was taking Jordan to Toptots there were two grannies in our class and it was nice for them to get out a bit too - as you know how tiring it can be taking care of a toddler all day, especially at this age as they are more demanding/ need more attention/ stimulation.
I can totally understand why you'd want to keep him home for a while - his poor little body just needs a break and his immune system needs to build up again.

Oh no Zulu, that is horrible. The pooh experience sounds ghastly haha... they joys of motherhood. Glad Shiya is feeling better now.. really not nice when they get sick like that :-S.

Yay for no reaction to the toast ScribblingAl! That's excellent!! Hopefully no more welts at all for Emily!

Can't believe I'm starting work on Monday... going to be rather a freaky experience having not worked in 3 years eeek!! And I am going to miss my babies so much *sob*
I haven't found a school for them yet either, I saw as many as I could and I was horrified at many. You should see the dark & dinghy rooms in some of these places... just walking through there is depressing... and others where the toilet is like IN the classroom, no door, nothing.. so the kids will be smelling poop most the day... gross. I think honestly though, I am probably a bit picky but it's just that if my kids are going to be in strangers care the whole day, I want to make sure it is bright, happy environment where they can be nurtured, looked after and happy. So, Andre will go look at one or two more of the schools he hasn't seen, and then we will discuss. In the meantime he will have his mum @ our place a few mornings a week whilst he works, and then he will take care of the kiddies and cook etc the rest of the day - and at the end of the month they will start in whichever school.
What is really freaky is that it is going to cost R2300-R2800 PER CHILD, per month just until 2pm every day!! Then there is still R300-R700 registration fee per child, plus quarterly stationary fees, outing fees. Blah blah.

Oh word, Lia still won't walk unless you coax her - then she can take about 3-5 steps and sits down. I thought she is just cautious.. but then changed my mind because she has this new trick where she pushes Jordan's little chair across the kitchen, against the cupboard, then she CLIMBS on top of it and stands up to reach onto the kitchen counters and grab whatever she can reach!! My word. LOL. SHe just wants to CLIMB onto everything.

She is officially on 1 nap a day and still wakes 2-3 times every night. SHe just cut one tooth and the other is JUST peeking through so I hope sleep improves a bit once the bugger is totally out - especially seeing I may need to concentrate at work.

Oh no Zulu!! That is so not-funny that it's funny. At least she's back to normal now. Not nice to have a sick little one.

Desiree, it's going to be so nice having your mom around. I am jealous!! Although it is nice to have distance from the family at times, there are times when it would be really good to have my mom around. The creche would say that you're making a mistake - of course! Babies get quite funny when they are taken out of their comfort zones, and they also pick up on our moods quickly, so poor Connor's not only been shipped down to Cape Town - new home, new climate, new environment - but he's also probably been feeding off your anxiety - don't underestimate the power of a move. So having your mom come down and stay with him will probably help steady his ship, and he'll soon be back to being the little trooper we know and love.

I didn't even know that you get No. 3 formula!!!! I'll have to look out for one in the Nan HA - have never seen one.

My big news of the week is that yesterday Emily had some of my toast and there was NO reaction, except that she loved it and ate about half of it. It was the Woolies low GI bread, and I was a bit concerned, but she wanted it, and we all know what happens when they want something. So I'm hoping that she's over the wheat thing now - Des she probably could have eaten that cake, and I feel like an awful, paranoid mother now. But those welts were scary things! We'll take it slowly and only give her some now and again, just to make sure. But she had more today (loves it) and she's fine!

I'm with you all on the dummy. At this point I don't need life to be any more difficult than it needs to be.

Well done on the job, Jacadebra. Must be nice to be in the position where you can pick and choose - and what a validation after being out of the "game" for three years. Just think of all the little extras you will be able to buy now, and the schools you can send them to now that you're a career-mom. And the relief that will come from the extra salary.

Good to hear that all munchkins are doing well.
Shiya was doing so well until, Tues, out of nowhere, she started throwing up and she became weak. i rushed her to the emergency unit, they immedaitely gave her an anti vomit. they did a stomach x-ray thanx goodness, all came back well.

Apparently there's a gastro doing rounds, and the Doc said she might have diarrhea. I'm sure Shiya heard her, when we got in the car,i heard this big bang sound that almost shook the whole of Ptr East.

I'm sure i did taste her poo , the mess was all over car, and she started screaming, but i tried to wipe and calm her and she was fine.

Then came her "dada", u would swear i was telling lies that she was rushed to hospital, she was the same old active girl.

luckily today she had " a formed stool" and is back to her usual bubbly self.

I took my car for a wash, i don't even want to think what the washers smelled

Girls...Connors 1st Birthday Party was a HUGE success... everyone arrived, things went well, Connor was Mr Smiles all day... it all went very well!! I've loaded some picces onto Facebook, and I'm really happy with everything!! Can't believe my little pumpkin is 1 !!! He even seems like a "bigger" boy to me now. He threw his first real tantrum this past weekend, in PnP....when I wouldnt give him another cheesecurl....lol.....and he screamed LOUDLY....lol....I was too shocked, and before I knew it I was just sticking cheesecurls in his hands to appease him...he he - Connor 1 & Mommy 0 - he won hands down!

We've made quite a big decision as far as Connor goes, we've decided to take him out of creche .... my mom is coming down to CPT, and she will be looking after him at home for a while - if all goes well, for the rest of the year at least, possibly until after his 2nd birthday. In our 8 weeks in CPT, and him being in a bigger creche, my poor munchkin has been sick more than he has been well & I've just had enough. So...he's finishing up in creche this week and my mom arrives on Saturday, I actually can't wait!! The creche says we are making a mistake....but, I guess they would say that.....but our paed says we are making the best possible decision for Connor right now...based on the past 8 weeks, Connor needs some time away from bigger groups of children. I am going to join a Moms & Tots group as of April, once a week - and my mom has raised 5 happy children - she knows what she's doing.

Oh....as for the milk thing, I tried giving Connor some Nido, but he HATED it.......so I tried S26Gold No. 3 (as he has been on 2 previously) and he LOVES it......dances & claps when it is milk time, he's on 2 bottles a day now - he's having whole milk in his cereal, etc - but he's been having whole milk in his diet since about 8 months....and I will certainly do whole milk and rooibos tea from time to time - Its no biggie to me - he's getting enough from the food he eats - when he isn't moody, he eats very well - and I'm totally impressed with how well he chews and manages his food now - staying away from the purees has definitely helped, I think. My mom and friends are completely surprised at how well he eats normal food....sometimes they just gasp at what I give him, lol

As for Naps....with me, Connor has 2 naps a day, a morning nap and an afternoon nap and they can be anything from 45mins to an hour & a half (when its the longer one, I celebrate, lol) - at night, he's still doing 7:00 - 5:30 - I guess he's just an early bird like his daddy

@Scribbling - about the Dummy, I've also heard about trying to take away the dummy at 1 year...But I say, *Bollocks* - if It makes Connor happy now, then the hell with it, its his.... I'm not going to make life difficult for the sake of a dummy...it doesn't bother me and I'm quite happy for him to have it - I'll look at taking it away when he's older and can "understand" and reason with me a bit.
