heart March to May 2010 Mommies

Oh no Beansmom, those "naps" were actually the times she woke up during the night... Emily's also on two naps a day now. Well, that's the plan but in reality it's more like one nap a day, and one big fight a day.

Well done on the crawling. It's such a relief, because now you know that she CAN do it. She's just too advanced to do it!

We also had an uncle's funeral not so long ago. It's horrible! Especially when it's unexpected. But it does put things into perspective. The things that people remembered him for really made me rejig my priorities. When I was in the doctor's rooms this morning (had some moles removed) he had this sign up saying something along the lines of "In 100 years from now it won't be important how much money I had or what car I drove. What will be important is that I made a difference in the life of a child." Made me think about the legacy we're leaving now that we have people to leave it to...

Jacadebra, I read that dummies should be ditched by a year, otherwise its really difficult to get them off it, but if anybody thinks I'm going to even attempt to pry that dummy out of madam's mouth and get her to sleep without it they can just take another swig of whatever medication they're on. At the moment I'm all for making my life easier. Started sleep training during the day again because the nanny started rocking Emily to sleep again to get her to sleep. But I gave up after two hours of fighting. And it was wasting my day off. Nanny got her down in five mins. I'm tired of fighting it. But it's going to be interesting when the nanny goes home for the Easter holidays.

Hi Babyshoes! LOL @ the ear thing - Lia is the same, she understands NO fully, but does exactly the opposite of what I say and giggles the same time.

Sorry about your sleep woe's ScribblingAl. We've been having chaos too. Rather exhausting. To top it off Lia's slowly switching to only one nap a day.. which isn't helping nighttime sleep or daytime sanity. On the weekend she slept once both days... and today I tried to force a second nap but it was a bit late in the day. I think if I can get her to sleep later for her nap it will be fine, but she tries to do the one nap thing at 10/11ish which means she is rather grumpy in the afternoons.

I had two interviews last week and have two second interviews this week so will see how it goes. Unfortunately both positions are in high traffic area's so if I get one I will probably leave at 6h15/6h30 and get home at 7h00 each day, the thought of it really isn't nice... :-S. Sitting with a short list of schools I've made but still need to go stop by at all of them this week. I think I'm half in denial about this whole situation, better get my act together and go check out those schools asap.

So sorry for your loss Beansmom. I know of quite a few people who have been killed on motorbikes. I am totally put off them and don't want anybody close to me on one.
Lia does similar thing sleeps like an angel until 11ish and then all hell breaks loose. At the moment I am the dummy most the time cos it's the easiest way to get her back to sleep as she doesn't take a dummy and I'm usually too exhausted to rock after being up so many times. Also teeth causing her issues, that I know of, who knows if there is something else.
Yay for the crawling.. hehe... see, she knows how to, she just isn't bothered!

Where are the rest of the mommies, come on, make your mark on our new thread :-)

Sleep tight ladies :-)

Thanks ScribblingAl ;)

Beansmom - Sorry to hear about Hubby's Uncle, Its really sad to loose someone. And you're right babies just know how to "lighten" the mood/atmosphere etc in sad situations... I can 100% relate to that...

Beansmom - The cows milk thing.... When my best friend started her son on cows milk she also started with 50/50 - worked well and then slowly introduced a bit more and at night she gives him Nido. Ill proberly try the same thing with Luke when he is a year old, at the moment he is on NAN2.

Let me get some work done - sooooo not in the mood for it today!

@SCribblingal - 3 Naps... #JEALOUS# I can't even remember when last Tayla had 3 naps in a day! She has been on 2 naps for a while already... 0900 for about 30 mins to an hour... then around 1230 again for 1 hour - 1h30mins... Thats on a good day!

Our night time sleeps have been varied... but definately teeth! The last 3 nights she battled a bit to go down, but was asleep by 7:30, but then wakes up every hour from midnight for a dummy... I suppose I shouldn't complain - it is just a dummy run... but geez, am I suffering in the sleep department... Last night I didn't get back to sleep after the 3am dummy run... it was first Tayla with the dummy, then the dog snoring, then the husband snoring, then Tayla and so the vicious cycle continued until hubby's alarm went off at 0530 this morning.... So totally relating to the ZOMBIE!!!

I have also been considering the whole cows milk thing... maybe to start half and half to get her used to it?? Any tips?? And I also heard from the clinic something about sleep being less around a year mark, but one long sleep or something like that?!?

So - we had my hubby's uncles funeral on Friday... what a sad day it was.... he was killed in a motorbike accident the weekend before. There were approx 500 ppl in the church... All I can say is - Thank Goodness for Tayla... after all the masses left from the cake and coffee parade I brought Tayla around and she really did brighten the mood... amazing how little ones can do that no matter what the occassion!

Oh and other news... madam decided to crawl 10 cm for me on Sat... twice... but that was that... so at least I can tell all the people that have lectured me on crawling that she has now done it... and we are moving forward with walking! :)

Anyway - that is all for now folks... Hope you all have a wonderful Monday!

Welcome Babyshoes. Had a giggle at your ears comment. I think Emily also caught that bug. Although she does know the meaning of "uh uh", because it's usually followed by a big tantrum. But those are also getting better since she's realised she gets no attention.

Jacadebra, how did the interviews go? Any luck on finding a school?

Cows' milk is fine from a year, hey? Still struggling to get madam to drink during the day, but we're persevering. Anyone know if soya or rice milk's ok? On the container of the soya milk it says something along the lines of not suitable as a complete food for kids under 2.

We had another fantastic night - Em wouldn't go to sleep, then woke up at 1, 4, and finally 7. Needless to say she's catching up on her sleep now, while her parents are zombified!!! We're trying to change her from three naps to two during the day, and that might have something to do with it.

Hello Ladies!
Finally found my way into the new thread. Been a busy week!

Sounds like we have a bunch of teething kiddies... Lia is still working on those bottom two - they're taking longer to come out than the others did. Oh well. Lets hope the teeth come out quickly and they are back to sleeping and eating or their usual patterns anyway.

I don't have that many onesies either but they are great for sleeping in. Especially when babies don't believe in keeping blankets on themselves lol. When it gets a bit colder though will definitely pop Lia into her sleeping bag :-).

How did it go with the assignments Bronz? The packing? When is the big day to move?

To all you broody ladies... I think your babies need a sibling, get busy!! haha. Although I do kinda miss the belly and the very needy little baby... I honestly am quite happy with 2. No more for me! My friend has 4 kiddies, don't know how she copes!

So funny... Lia got this rocking horse for her birthday and she is scared of it! She loves it when you press the ear and it makes clippity clop & neighing noises - she dances and squeals.. she even loves to pat its head... but try and put her on top of it and she freaks out! haha.

I got daddy to give Lia 1/2 cows milk 1/2 rooibos tea mix to drink while I was out for interviews the other day and she loved it. Glad about that at least. I'm thinking of just switching her to cows milk or cow milk/ rooibos during the day when I start working. I remember doing some first growth milk with Jordan for a while but damn, it tastes super nasty - and frankly my kids eat anything and everything so I feel she gets a huge variety and balanced diet in and doesn't need any fortified follow on milks or anything. I will try breastfeeding early mornings and evenings for a while after I start working - just for the extra immunity when she starts school and take it from there.

Hope you ladies have a wonderful relaxing weekend.
