Hi Carolsch - sorry to hear about your scare. I also seemed to have that kind of scare when i over exerted myself. Cameron ( 3yrs ) and I left our house to walk around the estate and he got carried away and went far down the road on his bike. We landed up just the two of us having to climb back up for about 30 minutes to the top of the hill. He was too tired to ride his bike and so i had to carry the bike and walk and walk and walk.. Well obviously i was really tired, but when i sat down at home I had pain and hardening of the stomach - braxton hicks contractions which came and went for 2 hrs.. I got very nervous but luckily like with you , when i went to rest, they stopped!!

Please take it easy and let us know how you are doing! I dont think we realise that our little toddlers really do keep us BUSY all day, unlike our experiences with our first pregancies!

Zel F - good luck with finding a party venue! but also if you dont, why dont you do a picnic type party at the park or the zoo? not sure where you live... but at this young age, they just want the special treatment and all the friends or family making a big deal, alternatively how about the SPUR??? where they clean all the mess?

Simone - Camerons dummy was great for him, I think it somehow depends more on the needs of the new baby so keep an open mind, a dummy on standby and see if you feel it will help baby settle.. I found that Cameron was so clingy to me and the dummy made him happier to settle without me.. I promise if your baby wakes every hour and a half and will go back to sleep if you pop a dummy in his mouth you might just need to become a believer in THE DUMMY! Camerons transition out of using the dummy went very well. from about 1 years old, it was only used at sleep times so that he could learn to talk without it, and just before 2 years, I asked him to give it to another baby that needed it more and he handed it over.. within a few days he stopped asking for it!

Its is rather amazing how much people spend on kiddies parties!!! Our is this week end and its wayyyy too costly to have it at a venue, but we are also not keen to have a whole bunch of school friends - really unknown families wander around our house - its sad that we are not close enough to our communities to TRUST anymore! anyway - i baked 36 cupcakes last night to take to school in the morning, just need to ice them tonight - so they can sing on friday for him as his birthday and party are on sunday..cant wait to celebrate with him

Vision - will hold thumbs that you will be able to see the gender next week! That's really a fortune for a party - what will it cost them later on, if they spend that amount of money now??? Spoiled I think!

I am doing good, no complaints other than the normal: swelling and tired because of this heat, heartburn is back ! Getting tired now as well, can feel I'm not in the second trimester anymore! I started with the packing of our hospital bags. Washed Millay's newborn clothes yesterday - and I was sitting on bed folding it , when DH came in - just said: "Sjoe, hier is PIENK goed op ons bed!!" I think it's still unreal to us that were having a little girl! But soooooo excited!

Hi ladies,

Had a bit of a scare yesterday. Last night I got slight cramps. Ruan has been nagging me to put up the Xmas tree. So I thought I was just a bit tired. Walked a lot the morning in Cape Gate, but had to stop every now and then cause it felt like I was going to wet my pants if I walk any further. Anyway so I was starting with the tree and felt that I couldn't stand it was too uncomfortable. Made it up the stairs and just stayed in bed. I was really worried. Especially when I felt little contractions. After a while I realized it must be the Braxton Hicks! Because it is not that sore just really uncomfortable! Feels like baby is in the process of turning and then it holds still and tighten for a few seconds. Then it goes away. So I am really relieved! Nothing this morning. Just feel like I need a lot of rest. My hole body is sore, butt feels dead and area around belly button hurts, but otherwise all is good.

Ruan is really a handful at the moment, oi. Got so much to do, but I will lie in bed till I feel rested.

Scan went really well I think. At first she was a bit stubborn. Her hand was in front of her face and we could only see her side of her face. The girl poked me; I had to turn on my side. Emma sang “twinkle twinkle little star” and asked “sussie” to pleas turn. Nothing… Then the girl told me to sit up for awhile and “poke” myself. That seemed to work and we got to see her lovely face. She looks exactly the same as Emma. It is almost as looking at Emma’s photo’s, so we used the same recipe.

Maureen, so sorry about the sickness. I really hope you feel better soon and that it is not necessary for you to go to hospital. I’m not sure if they can do measurements with the 4d, but I think they will be able if you ask them. Because they use the same machine as my gyne and he can do measurements. At pta east they first do the normal sonar and then they switch to 4d.

Vision, it is also very hot in Pta. I think I finished more than a 1.5l of water already. I just stay thirsty. I really hope that you can confirm the gender with your next visit to the doctor.

Carol, you must take it easy and maybe get some help. You will still be around to see that the lady do her job properly. Just try it for a while, and remember in 3months time, you will have another baby and Ruan will still be there and he will need your attention as well, so then there will be NO time for cleaning. So rather start training someone now to do the work the way you want it to be.

Zel, I really hope you find a school soon. And the right one as well. Enjoy the party planning for December

Mandy, I feel uncomfortable to. And I still have 3 more months to go. The lady at the 4d told me I have lots of fluid, so maybe that is why I am so big. There is lots of space for LG to move around.

Simone, I also never used a dummy or suck my thumb when I was a baby and I’m also fine. I also was not BF and was only bottle fed until 9months. I apparently refused the bottle after that. So my mom gave me black Rooibos out of a sippy cup. I didn’t want to give Emma a dummy, but everybody told me it helps them sooth themselves, but ja, now Emma is still very attached to her dummy. But she knows, she can only get her dummy if she goes to bed. I the beginning she asked for it a lot, but now she is fine without it. I’m still thinking of the dummy idée, with this one.

Maureen glad you are not in labour but not nice that you are still sick. I really hope you feel better. I am sure you dont want the drip.
Sorry about your LB - shoo he is really not well at the moment hey. Hope the meds will clear everthing up soon.
I am not sure if the 4d scan can do measurements - my one friend told me they cant but it may depend on the person and the machine they use? Hope you are feeling better then.

Chubbychick so glad to hear all went well with your scan. De Wet is growing so nicely and he is getting lots of healthy food which counts the most Hope the sugar tolerance test goes well so that you can move forward with no concerns.

Was watching "outrageous childrens parties" on tlc - sheesh some parents spend alot of money on a party. The one I saw was for the woman's littles boys pre school graduation party. He had a magician theme and it cost USD 30 000. That is a fortune!!!!!!!

Morning Ladies,

ENT confirmed Jamie has ear infection, eye infection and tonsilitis. He is also cutting 9 teeth at this point. So all in all a bad time for him. Got a whole boat load of medication including 2 antibiotics. Poor baby, he is at my moms today and tomorrow as I will not send a sick child to school. I know other parents do it but I just don't think it is fair to any one.

Gynae said under the circumstances I am doing well. I have "maagvliesontsteking", which I don't have a clue how I got! I have always struggled with my tummy, so it was going to happen at some point. I have medication and it helps with pain but if it does not clear up by this weekend I have to go into hospital for a drip or two depending on how bad it is. The Gynae also sent my urine away as she has some concerns, my blood pressure is also becoming a problem again. I am seeing the doctor again on the 29th, so will see what happens then.

Gynae did a scan to only check Reagan's heartbeat and he is fine. Very happily kicking away. She didn't do any measurements as it really hurts to put any pressure on my tummy, but will do the measurements on the 29th.

I am going for my 4D scan next week Wednesday, so hopefully the sensitive feeling on my tummy goes away so that we can do the scan and get good pictures. Do you ladies think it will be possible for the 4D person to do the measurements? I am really curious as to how big Reagan is now?
