Ah Jeanne, thanks for that you always know so much!! I am going to read that link, thnak you! So far William has been ok with milk but that's been in his pronutro, etc not as a straight drink - which apparently must go in a cup!? I think for now I may try half / half NAN3 an full milk and straight NAN3 at night then maybe if ok full milk in morning and NAN3 at night. I am loathe to cut out NAN3 as there are days that William really gets such little protein LOL you can only get so much from oats, toast, fruit and yoghurt which are his food preferences these days!

I'm sure the other moms can answer this one too.
From 1 year, because of their solid intake, they only need around 500mls of milk a day.
Some people go straight onto cows milk, if their childrens tummy's tolerate it.
While some formulas are designed to last longer, and then theres the inbetween Nido too. It certainly does confuse every body doesnt it and there are more options than you can think!

We tried K on cows milk, but the protein seems to give her excess phlegm and so because of her upcoming op, we decided to put her onto rice milk which is also good but not as many calories.

There is also Parmalat First Growth Milk which is about R12/ltr but also UHT process, and tastes disgusting if u ask me! And then the new one Easy Gest which is lactose free or reduced?

In truth I cant completely answer your question. My one friend switched straight to cows milk when her daughter turned a year (just recently) and others still give formula till 18 months.

SOOO glad the scan was brilliant, well done!

Quick question, sorry to derail your thread I noticed on another thread you said Kaylae having 2 bottle a day about 500ml milk. William also on 2 bottles a day (morning and night)

My question is...are you giving Kaylae straight milk those 2 times or is it formula (NAN 3 for example?) I'm still completely befuddled by NIDO, etc etc etc so am just trying to work out should I be moving William to whole milk and if so can I just give him normal full cream milk?

I bought some of the parmalat first milk and was horrified to see it was a) UHT process and had a TINY AMOUNT of protein. Nan3 (and nido etc) have like 15g protein as opposed to first milk has about 2g?! I thought the babies at this age (12-18 motnhs) still got most of their protein from the bottle?

Hope ms feels better soon but of course it's a good sign of a healthy pregnancy!

My nausea is back with a vengeance, probably worse than ever
And to add to that I have major insomnia. Was still wide awake at 4:30am.
So have dropped K off at the daymom as I need to start packing and emptying the house of unnecessary junk but I am first having breakfast which will hopefully help the ms, and then I'm going to go nap for a bit.

I am new to the forum. Just found out that I am pregnant after my first IVF. I have a 3 year old daughter.

I am 6 weeks pregnant and excited for my first scan on the 27 march.

Excited to be on my journey will all the moomie moms.

Typed out a looong post the other day then it didn't post

I have been super busy at work. Leaving late, having to work when I get home or in the early mornings before coming to work. I am SUPER tired. Last night I had gone home early and literally couldn't keep my eyes open and my toddler was playing in ,y bedroom. I must have woken up 20 minutes later to find that she had found a permanent marker in my drawers and proceeded to colour-in (WITH A PERMANENT MARKER) all over the walls, doors, bed sheets & WORST OF ALL, on this french chaise couch that we have at the foot of our bed. You know, the one that is very opulent and beautiful and that you never actually sit on but just use for decor? Yes, THAT ONE.

Strange thing is that I didn't even know how to react! I was SOOOO shocked to see all the black scribbles everywhere. I was SOOOO exhausted that I could barely see straight. I also felt responsible because I was supossed to be watching her and I fell asleep. BUT I do realise that she needs to learn that scribbling on furniture, walls, doors beds is ABSOLUTELY just not done and that has nothing to do with whether someone is watching her or not. eish! talk about an EPIC PARENTING FAIL MOMENT. Any advice on what i should do or what I should have done? so I know for next time? The couch is ruined by the way. DH came home late, saw the drama, and decided to put a paste of washing powder & Domestos bleach on the stain before I even realised what he was doing! The domestos obviously bleached the couch cos that material is very sensitive Ya...*huge sigh* what drama. Guess we'll have to get the couch re-uphlostered. The joys of raising kids

Anyway, other than that, there is nothing new on my side. Meeting a mommy firned tomorrow at Kay's Place, which is an indoor play venue for the kids in Edenvale. I will be 12 weeks preggy on Sunday plus it's my 27th birthday on Sunday Planning to drive out to Riverplace Restaurant which is a beautiful place on a river bank which is just on the oustkirts of Jozi in the Hartebeespoort direction. Never been before. Just seen photo's on their website. Eish, but with this weather...I'm not so sure anymore. Might choose somewhere cosier here in Jozi.
