Hi Ladies

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and welcome to the new fairies joining us!!

I'm 12wk today, but still have to wait til Fri for my FA scan ..... arrghh the waiting is killing me!!
I guess it's cos I've known since the very beginning that I'm preg, so the wait is that much longer
(I knew 1 week before AF was due that I was preg)

But I'm quite busy this week, so hopefully it will go by quickly - tom I'm going to the hair salon , Fri is the scan Sat I'm going to a bridal shower and then we are going away to a spa with BIL & his wife til Mon

Re bottle advice - I use TT for Dakota and I love it - have pretty much everything TT (bottles, steriliser, bottle warmer, thermo bags, sippee cups etc etc etc)
Thankfully D took to it from the start, no problems, but I have heard about babies not liking certain teats

ZoeCat - I would have it checked out, just in case, exp is it's painful - rather be safe than sorry (you are not just looking after yourself anymore!!!)

Belaine - I don't have the preggie pillow, also just used some cushions if I needed it, but not very often
(cushions can be placed more strategically and take up alot less space than the PP)

Hi Ladies

The weekend was so hectic, hubby was busy with the nursery. It's so exciting.
I'm tired all the time, so on weekends I make sure I have my in between naps.

On Saturday I noticed a lump under my left arm. Its not on the surface and feels like its within. And its painfull when I touch. And my left breast is smaller than my right.

My OB appointment is only at the end of April, and my hubby wants me to chek it out.

I will make an appointment at the FEM Clinic and see if it's anything of concern.

Any thoughts??

Yesterday i struggle with lower back pain yesterday it seems to be the worse so far.

all of a sudden after i took my vit tablet this morning i fell sick but are fine now.

Ja this waiting game is really sucks im dreaming the weirdest dreams.

Yippee i'm getting my new desk etc for my work i cant wait then i just need to get the files from the lady that is moving so i can sort out what needs to be sorted im getting more work!!
I think our excitement will hit another level friday morning. i'll try to post with my phone friday. We are going to friends for the rest of the weekend. didnt do much of anything.

JB at the moment im using 4 pillows and its fine for now i also dont want to spend unnecessary thats why ask all these questions.

happy birthday to Elamsmom and Mrs S H - hope you had a great day and were spoilt lots.

word of advice - don't buy your bottles now as you don't know what your baby will prefer. buy one of each if you like and try it all out first before you go and spend a fortune on a whole range of bottles that your baby may not even take to. That is what I did the first time round - got the whole avent range at home - unused!! My LG was very very fussy! Still is!!

We have been away - went to Durban for a few days and what an awesome time we had. The weather was great, spent each day on the beach and we took our 3 year old to seaworld to see all the fishies. She thoroughly enjoyed herself.

So I think im going on 15 weeks now. the morning sickness has disappeared. I had terrible heartburn the last few weeks too but that has also disappeared for now. starting to feel a bit better now.

I used the hot water flask thingy for the middle of the night feeds. worked like a bomb and much cheaper than the bottle warmer.


im only back at the gynae on the 13 april - seems like a lifetime to go. Also a bit worried and hoping that all is ok inside - but guess we won't know until we go to the doc or I start feeling my baby. sometimes i sit with my hand on my belly in a quiet area and see if i can feel anything... but no luck! can't feel anything yet.

good luck to everyones gynaes visits - sure that they will be all good!!

i got to start getting into the swing of baby things.... still have not even given it another thought. I just been thinking about getting things for my LG's room so we can make space for the baby.... My LG has too many toys that is taking over the spare room at the moment and no space for anything else. So have to get stuck into that first.

Mandz: Congrats on your pregnancy! How far along are you? When is your due date? I think we chose a nice time to fall preggy as babies will be born in Spring/ early summer. Last time I had a winter baby. Born mid-April just as the chilly weather set in. Night time feeds and changes weren't very nice because of the cold and I also used to worry when bathing the baby although we would have heater on in the room etc.

@Joybaby: You can never be too careful with these little ones. Take K to the doctor asap and have her checked out. I am so worried about creche illnesses this winter as our LG only started creche this year so I don't know what to expect...She has been on creche guard since she started at creche, and now I have also started her on Scotts Emulsion just to build up her immune system.

To moms with about 2 yr old babies, Are you also struggling to find winter clothes for them? My LG is turning 2 next month so i am buying 2-3 yrs clothes but they are SO hard to find! Woolies seems to only have nice stuff for the little ones. I didn't find much at edgars. The Ackermans I checked also didn't really have tracksuits which I wanted to get her for school...where have you ladies been buying?

AFM: I am 13wks 1 day today. No nausea. Boobs not feeling tender anymore. Actually hardly any symptoms. Tummy showing though. I am so worried. I have a gynae appointment on Friday but I wonder if I can wait that long I have been taking my Progesterone tablets and Folic acid. I am just very anxious for gynae to check that the Progesterone tablets he gave me did the job they were supposed to and that my Placenta has grown as it should etc. Crap, this waiting is not nice at all.

I can't wait to start buying stuff for my baby! but I keep thinking I must wait till we know the gender which is still a few weeks away. I am soooo excited about this baba! What is weird is that I keep thinking of only boy's names. I haven't thought of a single girls name

Belaine from my experience when a teat falls in it means the hole is too small for baby and they need to go to a bigger teat size. Its cos they have to suck so hard to get the milk out that it does this, and not brand specific.

Yay lots of gynae appointments coming up! We seem to have them in waves. Looking forward to the news. Belaine I hope you'll find out the gender. I think its a boy...

What is a preggy roll? Do u mean a pillow? Some women love it, but I gave mine away. In our little double bed it was just so uncomfortable. You can use cushions between ur knees to help your posture instead. They cost around R300 which could be used for other things, but like I say a lot of moms swear by them!

Re baby monitor - we still use ours, as K's room is on the other side of our house. And also useful when we're watching TV and her door is closed otherwise we wouldnt hear her. And we take it with us on holiday esp if the rooms are upstairs.
But try and buy this 2nd hand if you can. And look for something with wall power as they chow batteries.
As for the bottle warmer, a lot of varied opinions on this. Some people found them extremely useful especially in the colder evenings, while others just did room temperature.
Advice I read before was to keep water in a flask and then just mix the flask water with formula and no need to reheat.

AFM nausea is back in full swing today! Seems I should've been more greatful for the break I had! Havent had any more spotting. I think I can relax a little again!
And now I'm hoping the MS will subside for good although I hear the peak is 9 weeks
Kaylee has a chest cold which she caught at the daymom. Her cousin at the same daymom has also been struggling but hers seems to be on the mend.
With K I get so scared cos last August she was in hospital for 2 weeks with double pneumonia which we had no clue about! All we knew was that she kept getting ear infections but the minute there's a bug that produces phlegm it seems to go straight to her chest.
So will keep her out of school tomorrow and go to a doctor and take her for physio instead. Friday and Sat night she had fever, but thankfully tonight she didnt have that, just the phlegm.
Not much more to report really, same old same old.
3 weeks till our next scan.
The only symptoms I have except for the MS is lower back and abdominal pain, and some growing pains in my abdomen (burning stabbing type but not sore).
Nipples are sensitive to touch but not my clothes. The rest I think will come after 12 weeks!

I've heard apparently there is thread here on moomie complaining about TT, and then i have people said the baby suck the teats flat and it fell in
(sorry not exactly sure how to explain in english

I havent anything bad about dr browns my friend use it and app its very good.
But TT is use by a lot of my friends and family and they have just good things to say about it.

So im still torn between dr brown and TT. I thought of getting one of each to hosp the only thing that bother me if i cant bf and will need to go on bottle feed in hosp dh would need to go get the acc for the bottle feed. Make it sense?

Mandz congrats all the best so glad the 2nd time mom numbers getting bigger means more advice!!

My gynea app is Friday 11:15 and then will go to friends for the weekend so i will post on monday morning for you!

JB everything ok?? i also get scared with just the slightest red but after my mc scare that was a lot of blood and some clots which till today i dont understand what happened and only describe it as a miracle.
JB big hugs to you and keep an eye on it and may the next 3 weeks go by quickly for you to get peace of mind

Im just tired and lower back pain and breasts are tender.

Do any of you struggle with an appetite? im struggle to eat I try and I do eat but little bits at a time.

do any of you have a preggy roll do you think its money well spend?

and what do you think about bottle warmer and baby monitor?
