Hey all :)

Petro - how did exams go? I was in your shoes with my first baby - he was born in between semesters. I must say I'm so thankful I'm not there again. Strongs to you coz it's tough but you will make it through.

4D scan - was awesome! Calum looks like Connor with a bigger nose ;) He even has the big toe gap like my son and husband.

Flu - I'm still sick, been weeks now and plodding along. Calum seems fine. Going to gynae on Tuesday - haven't been since March coz I had specialist scan in April and 4D in May. Hoping gynae will book a date for csection with the hospital as they told me they don't book in advance (which I thought was weird)

Bath products - I remember Discovery gave bath products in their bag and I used those plus plain aqueous cream. Anything else you ladies recommend? I remember Connor having particularly dry skin. Bennetts bath drops also helped.

Maybe it's just the preggy brain or excitement of baby but I'm feeling like I'm forgetting important items for baby and will have to run around when he's born. Any majors or even minors that you recommend? You'd swear this is my first baby and I have no clue what I'm doing hahahaahhahaa

Enjoy the public holiday tomorrow.

Much love

Eve

Hi Ladies,

How you all doing?

Im stressing a bit. things at work are hectic. and i have my 2 more exams this week as well.

At least after that im done for this semester. can't wait to meet our little girl. she's growing in leaps and bounds.

registered at Femina Hospital in pretoria and have our 4D scan on the 9th of this months, and the we have a day prenatal class on the 21st.

Im an accountant and human resource manager so im doing my

about a month back i actually got an upper respirator tract infection and was forced to go on anti-biotics(then i was suffering from thrush for 2 weeks  ) or else it would have turned into Pneumonia  but with the flu-injection, your body is basically prepared in case you do get it. I only had the flu injection once before when i was a kid and this was the first time i got it again and i feel fine. Its only like R70 at either Dischem or Clicks and i think its worth a try, prevention better than cure.

Going with moms UIF is worth coz they explain everything to you so well, nowadays the department of labour make it extremely difficult for you to claim UIF, it takes them 6-8 weeks to process and if there is one mistake they throw it all out. with mom's UIF they check the forms for you and make sure its all right, they submit it for you and they stand in the queue for you every month and submit your forms for you. I will not stand in line with a newborn baby at the department of labour every month.

Hope you guys all have a super weekend!!

Shucks, I've never had the flu injection. Some people swear by it (like my gran) but we've never had it done. I don't normally get sick but obviously being pregnant, my body is weaker. We use homeopath meds and my doctor said the plus side of being getting sick now is that Calum is building up his immune system already.

I saw their pricing - shucks, I thought it was quite a bit. A friend of mine said that she went in once to the office to hand in her forms and never had to go again, as long as she filled in the UI-4 form which asks for continuation of payment. I'm going to try my luck and do it myself. I'm sure that's how I did it with Connor. It does say however, that you can only apply when you are not working - so you can't apply while you are still getting an income - and you have to have proof that baby was born. Maybe I'll get all the other forms sorted now and then just hand in the birth certificate / form from doctor once baba is born.

Hey Eve

My doctor said that i had to go for the flu injection so that my body can build immunities against the flu. Apparently they are going to make it a world wide thing, where pregnant women should get the flu injection.

Well i am going through Mom's UIF assist(they do CPT aswell) you can go to their website and they explain everything there. I am paying R630 all together, but i paid R300 yesterday and they sent me my username and password to download the necessary docs, once i have sorted all the docs out and i send them the originals i pay them the outstanding balance. Its a once off payment so if you get unemployed or fall pregnant again, you dont have to pay them again as you are already on their system. You should apply 2 months before baba is due as this is a LONG process. The later you send your docs the bigger the risk of you being paid later.

Morning ladies

Good to hear from you China - glad all is well.

I'm also going for my 4D on Saturday.

Been so sick with flu this week and now my son has high fevers too.

Uif - how early must we apply? Should I use a company to do it for me or just do it myself? I remember last time they were quite pricey. Please recommend a company for Cape Town.

Our baba isn't in a routine - well at least I haven't noticed any routine.

Regarding formula - I don't know what's best. It really depends what works for each child. I used nan, friends used s26 and others used isomil. Stick to what paed has told her if it's working.
