Hey gorgeous gals

Someone said they haven't picked up any weight, can't remember who it was but I must say I'm green with envy. My stomach has days when it doesn't look pregnant but my ass on the other hand is definitely carrying a baby in each cheek!!

Hospital bag - I think that list was pretty accurate.
* maternity panties - those netting type ones coz you can just throw away
* books etc - I took puzzle books and magazines and never used any - was either busy with baby or trying to catch a few zzzz's
* jungle juice - I made this and drank in hospital to help with milk production and energy
* weleda wecesin powder for baby's umbilical cord
* nappies - I remember taking extra with but can't remember if I used coz I think hospital gives you
* camera/video camera - I had this on my first list but I guess everyone just uses their cellphones now
* something nice for nurses - always nice to pack in a few choccies just to give to nurses or get hubby to bring on your last day to say thank you

Also send flowers or chocs to doctor's office for gynae as well as reception staff

Due date - csection will probably happen on 8th Aug - could be there Wed before or Wed after ;) but 8th Aug is what gynae has said for now

p.s jupiter - I love lists!! and I see we had our first roughly the same time too

China - thanks for reminding me about booking a bed. I haven't even registered my pregnancy with Discovery

Cloth nappies - I wanted to do this, was so amped to save money and try but a friend put a spanner in the works and asked if I'm prepared for breastfeeding baby poos to be scooped out of the cloth. Any suggestions? My sister said use throw away liners in the nappy to just pick up the poop and flush in the toilet.

Ok, so I hope no one minds if I make a list of all the ladies in this thread and due dates (if known)?
I seem to be in a list-making mood this evening, weirdly.

Little One - 12/08
PetroK - due date?
Jupiter - 15/08 - boy
Gabi - angel baby
Dellie - 28/08
Peanut - late July/early August
EveStyles - due date?
Carmy - angel baby
Bee - early August - girl
YolindyJ - 25/08
Claire - 5/08
China Bean - 12/08 - boy

Hope I haven't left anyone out? And some ladies have been very quiet. Peanut? Did you move over to the July thread? Yolindy? How are things with you? Little One and PetroK? Sorry EveStyles I didn't catch your due date, I think it's quite close to mine though from what I've gathered.

Hello everyone

How are you all doing?
Here's my answer to China Bean's question about the Hospital Bag!
I had great fun in my first pregnancy shopping for and packing the hospital bag. Here is my list.
For baby:
Going home outift and blanket to wrap baby in when going home (no need to pack any other clothes or blankets, the hospital will provide outfits for the time that you're there).
Dummy if you'll be using one.
You don't need much for baby, the hospital provides everything.

For you:
Comfortable tracksuit/pyjamas (bring at least 2 or 3 sets so you can change into clean ones when you start to feel icky)
Dressing gown
Slippers
Nursing bra or two
Panties
Maternity panties (you might feel more comfy wearing these instead of normal panties)
Breast pads
Nipple cream
Going home outfit
Toiletries and makeup
Lots of snacky food! I felt hungry between meals and was so glad I packed loads of snacks in my bag. And snacks for hubby too, he spent all day every day with us in the hospital until they would kick him out at around 9pm!
Magazines/books to read/MP3 player/tablet - anything you like to keep entertained, although most of the time you will spend just staring at baby and breastfeeding.

For hubby:
Change of clothes
Deodorant
Toothbrush and toothpaste
Lots of snacks and cooldrinks
Hubby's bag is for in case you go into labour at a funny time of day/night and he might want to freshen up after the birth, especially if you have a long labour and he has to be by your side for hours on end.

Anything I've forgotten?

I can't wait to shop for my hospital bag, it makes it all feel more "real" if you know what I mean?

Hi Everyone

Sorry its been over a week, i went for my anomaly scan and baby is perfect and growing well. I found out that it is a little BOY!!! Very excited indeed, went to the baba indaba last Saturday and bought Bam Boo cloth diapers so i am definitely going to try out those!

My doctor informed me that i can already book my bed by my next appointment! So i have been thinking, what do you guys suggest is the necessities that go in to your hospital bag. Second and third time mommies should know from experience :P

Hello ladies

Feel like forever since i've chatted...think i was busy getting withdrawal symptoms lol.

Welcome to all the new ladies and those who haven't chatted in a while.

I went for a scan on the 28th and found out we're having another girl!!! Was slighty a bit dissapointed, as i would have like to experience the best of both worlds. But then realized, she's healthy and mine...then started to see the benefits of having 2 girls.

However what made my day even more special is that i didn't pick up any weight...so the exercise is working. With this pregnancy i feel so much more comfortable, less aches and pains. As with my first i picked up between 10 - 15 kg by not really exercising. Really want this vbac...so doing everything in my power to make it happen.

Littleone...i'm also going to try and do this all natural, like i wanted to do with my first. Little advice, listen only to your midwife and block out all these other voices. With your first you tend to listen to everyone and want to please them, then you end up unhappy...like with me, a c- section that wouldn't have been necessary if i just stood my ground.

I have a wonderful midwife, Marianne Littlejohn, based now in Muizenberg. However she does homebirth and vbac, back- up at Vincent Palotti as well. Told me in last week they delivered a baby, vbac, after 3 caersians. That gave me new hope.

Claire...i do all my exercise at home. I do about 50 walking lunges, 50 squads, do some arm training using food tins as weights. Then i use the steps, stepping up and down...50 per leg. Then my midwife advise i do alot of belly dancing, so i sway my body to each side...like they would do, for about 50 each side. She now also advise i can do zumba or just put on some music and dance...got nuts for about 5 - 10 mins. I do this atleast or try to 3 - 4 times a week.

Pregnancy has been weirdly fun this time around, as i guess i know what to expect. Only thing i which i could wish away is the itchy skin...not even bio-oil seems to be helping aarrgghhh

Enjoy the your pregnancies ladies....

Hello ladies
Nice to catch up and read about everyone's pregnancies. I had my 20 week fetal assessment scan today with the sonographer. It went very well, little boy is measuring up very nicely and everything is looking normal and healthy! I'm so excited now and really getting used to the idea of having 2 boys. China bean, I can't believe your scan is costing R1650! I paid R500 today. Maybe Cape Town is just way more expensive than Durbs. I paid R1000 with my first pregnancy 4 years ago and I was in Cape Town back then.

I agree with the ladies who say there are a lot of things you don't need to be wasting money on for baby. I realised this the other day when I was browsing at baby city. What a huge money making industry it has become. There are tons of new products on the market since my first baby, most of it expensive gadgets that you're led to believe are essential but really aren't. It's so easy to get carried away though, having a baby is such an emotional time.

I can't believe it's April already. Only 4 months to go until our birth month, ladies. When does the 3rd trimester start , does anyone know?

Keep well

Hallo to all the moomies!

I haven't chatted on here for a long time. I actually chat on the afrikaans forum and now and then I pop in here
to read everyones' stories.

Well, I am 18 weeks already - can't believe it - time is definetely flying. My due date is still 28 Aug.
I am loving every moment of my
pregnancy. The second trimester is really great! I had my 16 week scan just over 2 weks ago and we found
out that this is a little girl. We are over the moon! Going for my 20 week scan on 16 April - cant wait to
see her again. I will then also be booking my bed at Unitas.

We have bought a camping cot (grey and pink) and also bought a travel system - we decided on the Chelino
Urban detour 3 wheeler - the honeyvomb colour. It is really nice and there is a lot of space. We bought the
cot and travel system from Chelino through a contact who works at Chelino, so we paid a lot cheaper than we
would have in the stores. I am also busy with her room - I want a winnie the pooh theme and will add Pink to
the room as well. Still a lot to do but can't wait for the end result.

I agree with EveStyles - I also use the yummy mummy tummy and it really works well. I also think there is many
things which are a waste of money.

The nasal aspirator - I have bought a "nose Frida" from Dischem. my sister in law swears by it. It is R100.

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

xx
