I think he's retired now. Was an old-ish man and I didn't like him at all because he just scolded me for going off the pill because it didn't sit right with me and I hated the side-effects (like I was a child or something). Think his surname was Rossouw or something. So he just basically scared me into taking the pill again (he said I will just have to take it until I want to start TTC, non negotiable), and after a couple of months I hated it so much that I just stopped it and went to Dr Hugo. She on the other hand said it was fine for me to let my body work through my irregularities naturally and was just generally so encouraging, and really, after 2 years being off the pill I felt so good and my body really did fix itself better than any meds ever did (just had to give it a chance). So had a very negative experience there, and my method clearly worked as I'm pregnant haha. So do trust your gut feeling, I'm so much happier for it.

Hmmm that is tricky! I know some of them do tend to rush a little bit. I had one in stellies as well who rushed, then moved to Elizabeth Hugo in Somerset who is WONDERFUL. She unfortunately doesn't do deliveries anymore though, otherwise I would recommend her in a heartbeat. I think you need to think about it a bit. But at the end of the day the most important thing is that you feel well taken care of, and if you don't feel this way with your current doctor you shouldn't be afraid of moving.

Joans my gynae is in Stellenbosch and we stay in Gordons Bay. He is very very good and also very well-known so im not sure if I am just over reacting with certain stuff, but I do sometimes get the feeling he just rushes things off and I feel so dumb when asking questions about things im not sure off. Specially the spotting, he's not available to talk to should you want to know nitty gritty stuff, you need to call the midwives that works with him. which is not bad as they are always so nice and assisting. When I was in hospital last time, he only arrived after I went into theatre and wasn't even present at the birth. and as far as I understood, he lives right next to the hospital. So not quite sure.

MommyMe are you thinking of rather using vergelegen medi clinic? My old gynae was at vergelegen but it's a bit far for for me as well, so I really lucked out that DH's Aunt happens to work at Panorama, which is the closest hospital to me. I don't think it's too late to switch gynaes, especially if your current doc doesn't support your birthplan 100%. Just make sure you do your research on your new doc! AFM my plans are really still up in the air regarding birth. My doc is luckily really so supportive (helps that she's family :P ) and I trust her opinion at this stage. I'm on the fence about natural vs c-section because of my size, and the plan at the moment is to see how it goes. Baby is already measuring ahead in size quite a lot, and doc said that if he's really big she would recommend a c-section, as I made it clear that I would rather be mentally prepared for that than try to do natural and have an emergency c-section anyway (much more traumatising). But she's also very pro natural, so if she spots no issues and is sure it will be a safe move for me then I would like to have a natural birth. But her general guideline has been that if the baby is above 4kgs she wouldn't like me to go through with natural, but I still can if I want to. So we'll see how things progress! For now I'm trying to just relax about it, as it's still a long way to go.

Hi ladies

Almost weekend  :woohoo: :P

Tomorrow is going to be hectic, doing my hair tomorrow (much overdue, so cant wait). I am only doing highlights and also read that as long as its a well ventilated area, its fine to do. After that some other errands, sport day and a function the evening. Our power is also off for the whole day Sunday, so hope its a nice day so that I can do some gardening.

Tx for all the compliments ladies, don't really know how much weight I've put on as I only weigh at the dr's. will found out on Tuesday, think it might not be little. haha.

TCC how was your scan, hope you got to find out the gender - fx.

I also want to pick your brains on something. as I will be going to the dr on Tuesday, I need to decide if its best to stay with him or move to another gynae. I know its a bit late for this decision, but the hospital he is practising at is about 45 mins from our home, whereas the nearest Medi-clinic to us is like 20mins at the most. Can even get there in 10 or 15. I want to discuss with him if he's pro natural or not and also supports hypnobirthing (as I want to do this), delayed cord clamping and also Kango care. what are your requirements in this regards and do you think its wise to change gynae's now at this stage?

Spotting still present. comes and goes. :S

May you all have a blessed and wonderful weekend, be safe and cuddle those bumps  :P
