Hey ladies
So happy to read all your positive messages and scan news... so excited for my scan now!
Ilse - thanks so much for sharing your pic... we must be very close together coz I am 8 weeks and 2 days today. I leave here on the 8th Oct and land back in PE on the 9th Oct in the afternoon. My scan is at 0930 10th Oct... cannot wait! I am mainly a field biologist so I work with the whole animal and this happens back home. I measure metabolic rate and take blood, feather, faecal and organ samples and then those samples are divided up and sent to relevant collaborators. I came over here to learn how the blood and feather samples are analysed and to talk about the next step in the genetic work... since the lab rats here need me to send them samples

What are you working on at the moment?
NewbieMom - Thank so much for the encouragement... the talk went well (shame they were sweet and gave me a chair so I did not have to stand) and I not only managed to finish my talk but I survived talking science from 9am until 11pm... I am so pooped today but at least I know I can do it if I have to

I don't have any feeling on gender... no instinctual guess?? My cycle is so variable that I cannot even guess based on ovulation. However, I have been warned that my husband was extremely naughty as a child and my mom always used to tell me to be good otherwise one day when I have children... my children will be 20 times naughtier... so the thought of having a boy gives me a panicked feeling inside... hahahaha. I guess as long as he or she is healthy and happy then it does not matter

I will be finding out gender as soon as it is possible... cannot wait 9 months to find out
Gloei - congrats on your lovely appointment for your scan, so exciting. I have been using the acupressure bands for a few days now and they seem to be helping... I still feel nauseous but it is not as intense and I can tell when I take them off that the nausea is worse... so I think they are helping. I am however constantly nibbling... I am going to be soooo fat
Nels_n - I hope your nausea is a bit better and that you are surviving the building work. I feel for you... type us an update when you can.
I just found out that yet another friend is expecting in April... so April is going to be a super busy month for our group of friends... 3 babies and counting

so exciting.
Are any of you still feeling panicky at all... I saw my baby's heart beat just over a week ago and keep staring at the dot on the picture I have... and hoping everything is ok in there. Still wake up in the morning feeling anxious until I see there is no blood. I really hope it is just a first time mom thing and not an instinctual feeling that something is wrong... Just trying to focus on my work and count down to being home and having my next scan. So hard to shake that feeling though.
