TCS84,

I have seen videos of normal birth during our ante natal classes with our 1st. Oh my goodness, it was horrendous. I always knew I'd do a C-section, but I felt ill after seeing that video (even though I wasn't going to be doing it myself).

The spinal block was honestly fine, they give you 2 shots, the first just to numb the skin and the second is when they do the actual spinal. You only feel the 1st needle, which is like a bee sting on steroids. That was quite sore, but no worse than having an injection at the dentist. After that all was well, I had all sensation back in my legs around 6 hours after delivery. The worst part was that the anaesthetic made me very nauseous, but as you all know by now, I vomit for everything.

Sorry to ask a sensitive question, but when your pregnancy was terminated, did you deliver naturally??? I always thought that was done by C-section as a default, to minimise the trauma for the mom.

DieSwartkat!! hahahahahh

the idea of pushing a full-term baby trough "that" little hole gives me anxiety. Won't be doing that in my lifetime.

Thats soooo funny. i totally get it though!!! it is the unimaginable but imaginable for me. You see the first time when whatever happened, i didnt know i had a choice of a c sect or the epidural. i was given morphine shots and pethadine right... 5 to be exact but those blady things didnt work then they offered myprodol LOL.. YAH RIGHT!!!

so im guessing that if i was given the option i may have went with c sect because i always said ill do a c sect not knowing that they do a spinal block. i was not well read at tht stage and didnt know as much as i know now...so i would of went with c sect and then im guessing i would of done it again this time... those morphine shots were flipping sore... my one spot on my butt cheek has never healed honestly, i have no feeling there LMAO   tmi i know... so i keep thinking what the epi would be or spinal block... i would not mind being put to sleep completely then they can do whatever and i wake up and the bean is out etc but apparently thats not allowed..

have you ever watched videos of natural births? well DONT! they are horrendous.. and .. they are... just blady bad... woman go mad screaming and doing all sorts of diff positions etc. very .... scary... but IF you really want to watch, Youtube japanese woman giving birth naturally. my word those woman are so composed and calm and quiet... completely diff! i will try to be like them hahahha :P

ps i understand the non judgemental thing.. we are all different in our way.. none of us are perfect and there is no right way.. well i believe there is no right or one way of doing things...

@Kiara: there is no telling what any of our beans are going to do.. perhaps thats what makes it soo exciting as well? their arrival.. Its 1 thing us control freaks have NO control over really speaking... its amazing.. all of it.. and this will be my first ( full term) so im truely amazed by it all..

TCS84, hahaha!

I'm the complete modern woman, give me the pain killers any day. I want to stroll into the hospital that morning with my hair done and my make-up on, pushed into theatre, and they must just hand me the baby so that we can stroll off into the sunset.

Ok, maybe I won't do my make-up. But definitely my nails :silly:

The idea of pushing a full-term baby trough "that" little hole gives me anxiety. Won't be doing that in my lifetime.

Ps: Just wanted to say that I'm not a judgemental sort of person. I have my ideas about my own life, but I can see the flip side of the coin too. I get why women do natural deliveries. Same with breastfeeding vs bottle feeding. We all do what we think is right.

With my last, I had an emergency c-section (went into early labour) at about 36w4d. It was a Wednesday and my c-section was scheduled the following Tuesday. I also love planning and knowing exactly what happens when. I also only have myself and hubby through the process and let family know immediately after the fact. I don't want to deal with everyone's advice, opinions, interruptions, etc. I want peace and serenity. Plus I'm petrified of pain  . I was there twice for my sister and it looked hectic.

I wanted to try and wait this time around because last time, baby decided to come at her own time... I feel like we will set a date and I will commit to the date and then he decides to follow in his sister's foot steps and make a dramatic early entrance.

TCS84, kudos to you. We have opposite fears...

IVF: October 2010
FET: November 2010
2 Angel Babies
2 little girls, 1 a beautiful gift and 1 biological

DieSwartkat im a complete control freak as well... with the last it was a natural delivery and i cant explain the pain i felt. the Dr says that at full term the pain wont be that bad because the uterus will be ready to do its thing etc.

So i will be having a natural birth with no epidural etc. The reason i would like to go this route is because i have am absolute fear of needles!!!
the thought of the epi needle or spinal block completely freaks me out and the thought of no feeling in my legs etc.

however i know that its not really my choice at the end of the day and the bean will arrive however he chooses to.. c sect or natural...

i would love to know the exact date tho!!! DH thinks he will arrive exactly on the 5th sept naturally lol lol

I had a C-section with my first at 37 weeks and a few days, I had a wonderful experience from start to finish and want to do it the same way. Obviously it depends on the baby's weight and the doc won't do the C-section if she feels the baby is too small.

My issue is that I'm too much of a planner, I just couldn't sit and wait for the baby to decide on due date. I like being in control and being able to arrange and organise everything.
