LillyR, my gynae said that I should only take a calcium supplement from 16 weeks, as that is when baby starts taking "calcium" from your body. Unfortunately I'm not that big on getting natural calcium in and I'm terrified of Osteoporosis, so I just take the Clicks brand calcium supplement (400mg) think it costs R40 for a month supply - which is MUCH cheaper than the Caltrate!

Maybe you should get yourself some Corsodal mouth wash? I know it helps for bleeding gums and to fight gingivitis? They say flossing during pregnancy also helps, but I know with my first my gums were so swollen - flossing just made them bleed more and almost "itch"...?

@ pillpusher, thanks for the info. Very helpful. I am glad you are feeeling better :)

My gums have started bleeding, and i am not taking anyhting as a calcium supplement. With my first they were so bad, they were growing and covering teeth and i also had toothaches so bad that i had to have teeth pulled(stupid dentist just rushed to take them off). So i am not sure if i should be taking anything for calcium, my gynae didnt say anything about it.

Hello ladies.
Decided to join the forum as I'm due end Oct and finding myself talking an ear off to everyone about my pregnancy.
Hoping to find a few answers, some support and a couple of laughs. Catching up on all the posts from the past few months.
This is my first and it's so overwhelming!!

Bwhahahaha! Oh my goodness... Suddenly your name makes sense to me!

I was thinking you were openly acknowledging loving pills...in a (possibly) bad way! So sorry... :tmi: Lol, I blame it on Pregnancy Brain! :P

So glad you're feeling better!!! I had the local stomach bug 2 weeks ago and it was awful! Touch wood - no sign of flu...yet!

With my first my SIL borrowed us her Peg, and it came in very handy! Especially not having to spend that extra money... This time around, there's already few hand me downs for this baby and I already have 2 brand new cots (camping & co-sleeper) which I won, so we decided to get baby #2 his/her own travel system as a treat. But that's the only thing we'll be splurging on (within budget). The other big/costly things I don't mind buying 2nd hand - angelcare breathing monitor, electric breast pump etc. That's if I can find it at reasonable prices, cause lately it seems everyone wants shop/retail price for their 2nd hand goods!!! What gives???
