ps: who started stocking up and on which products??

i have a absolute obsession with babygroup.co.za i just love buying from them and they deliver!

my little stash mostly consists of wet wipes and nappies (for now)

With my lg i stocked up on nappies and then when they were either too big or too small i just went to baby city and swopped the whole unopened pack for whatever size i needed. doesnt mind if i didnt buy it from them or not, they dont ask for a slip! So im def doing that again.

Louise Marie, Dr Marina du Plessis 012 367 4476. Exactly like HVDB said R2700 or might have been R2400 for 12 weeks assessment and then R1750 for 20 week. My app with her next week will be my last. My medical aid paid the whole thing back thank goodness. not sure if they will this time though as my plan is exhausted
My previous gynea wanted me to go see dr Marina and then go see him like a day or two afterwards to discuss the results so that woulve meant double expenses but my new gynea (Dr Brune, Kempton Park) said he only needs to see me if dr Marina thinks its neccessary. Because shes also a gynea ..

@Clueless we live in Delmas now, but i still work in Germiston, and my lg's school is in Benoni. so i do quite a bit of driving. I dont really mind, i only work half days so my lg and i still get home when its light and its really is refreshing getting back to the farm. it feels as though the city smothers me, so if i dont get out of here quick enough i might just loose it

HI All, welcome Joanita... I also went to Narina at Kloof Fetal centre, our first appointment there (at about 12 weeks) was indeed R2700, you can claim it back from Medical, my second appointment was on Monday and it was only R1700 this time. I do not have to go to Narina again, unless my OB/GYN suggests it again. I just loved those scans... so much detail.

This little monkey of ours is really busy today, I can actually feel baba move now as I am typing this message... as if he/she knows who I am talking about.

I will definitely go and make a turn at MR Price, I found a cute little shop selling only maternity wear, Miane Maternity in The Grove, they are expensive, but the tops are so nice and fashionable that I will be able to wear it even after baba is here, there starting price on tops is R350 and then up. The leggings and jeggings I buy at woollies or where ever I find ones that fit comfortably as I have rather long legs. I find the china shops also have some nice stuff.

Welcome Juanita! I know the feeling, we were also convinced we were only going to have one little girl (she's 2.5 now), and then came the news that I was pregnant again. It was a massive shock for both me and hubby! We had also given away all our baby stuff, were living very happily in a 2 bedroom townhouse with a little flatlet outside for when my parents or in-laws come visit. Hubby had just finished redoing our kitchen 2 months ago and we loved it. All of a sudden all plans changed! Congrats on your new house! Where in Jhb are you now located?

Thanks ladies for the clothing suggestions. I completely agree with spending the minimum amount on maternity clothes. With my previous pregnancy I bought a few pairs of tights and 4 long tops and that got me through the winter. Hoping to do the same this time. And have you also noticed that the "Maternity" label seems to add at least 50% to the price tags?? And some of the maternity clothes are really just not pretty at all! So if I can get away with just buying bigger clothes then thats what I am planning to do. Definitely going to go look at PnP and Ackermans for jeggings!

@pillpusher, so happy that your scan went well! And Eliana is a beautiful name We are not doing a 20 weeks scan at a fetal assessment clinic, my gynae has some specialized equipment so he does the scan for anomalies himself. I don't think it is the same level of detail as the fetal clinic, but last time he checked for heart chambers, main blood vessels, brain hemispheres and connection (not sure if that is the correct term), spine and major organs. So together with the panorama test I did at 9 weeks that will hopefully be enough to put my mind at ease, unless he decides to refer me.

Thanks ladies, I am NOT looking forward to moving, especially not in the dead of winter with a small toddler. But hopefully we can spread it over a couple of weekends and I will try to take it easy!

Juanita, what's the name of the place you had your fetal assessment done? I would love to go Do you know how much they charge?

Phoned Fetal Assessment Centre @ Pta East Hopsital and they now charge a whopping R2400 per appointment!!! I mean seriously??? I hate it when people extort pregnant already paranoid mothers!

I agree - Mr Price maternity is more than suitable for me as well. I simply do not see the need to wear R500 pants just because it has a Truworths Maternity label on the inside. Evan Woollies & Edgars Maternity is damn expensive and I don't believe in paying more for something just for the convenience of buying it on credit... I bought the most awesome jeggings @ ackermans for R120 last month - one in indigo "denim" and one in black "denim". I live in them

My lg is very very excited to meet her little sister, shaim its going to be such a long wait for her!!! We wanted to have another baby when she was about 2 but the Lord had different plans for us, so we were convinced we will only have one baby, hence we gave away / sold ALL our baby stuff!! EEK!!

Louis Marie, i went for my 12 week fetal assessment with Dr Marina @ Kloof hospital in Pretoria (Elarduspark) and i have another fetal assessment with her at 20 weeks (next Thursday)

@Clueless, good luck with moving!! We moved into our new house about a month ago and everyone told me to take it easy but i didnt listen so i got a big scare when i started bleading on the Sunday!! Sooo, a word of advice, TAKE IT EASY!!! If it doesnt get done, no biggie, it will get done, eventually!! Dont over exert yourself!
