Hello All

Hope you had a great and well rested weekend :)

Welcome to the new ladies :) These groups really are amazing to share your experiences and emotions, cause lets be honest - Not everyone wants to discuss this stuff with us ALL the time :) LOL

@ Nix, I absolutely LOVE that name, Isabell would have been Bug's name if he was a girl :) Love the second name idea.
Thanks for that update regarding the baby essentials, it really helps us first time mommy's.

Anyone else in the JHB area? Hubby and I want to wait until the expo before we buy anything major - Pram / Carseat; compactum etc - I am just worried that 36weeks is too late to be buying everything, and I'm not sure what type of mood I'll be in.

All your bump pics are looking gorgeous, I'm STILL waiting to pop, if it wasn't for the Doppler my friend lent me, I would be convinced there is no Bug :( I did feel his first movements over the weekend though - It was AMAZING!! :D

Who else is due around the Christmas period? I am still hoping to do the elective C-Sec on the 21st Dec which will be my 38week mark. That way we will be home in time for Christmas

Have a great day everyone!

Awwww Happi your little girl is too precious, she will also be a great big sister. It's nice that they looking fwd to it makes us feel more confident, you bump is looking great for 23 weeks, hey and yes your little baby boy is flaunting his assets, lol. Glad it all went well, and you proudly carrying around your half a kilo now.

My LG crawls into our bed often now also but we let her do it, besides the chillier mornings we want her to always feel loved especially with the new baby coming.

How did your hospital tour go? where you happy with everything? you did say your bed is booked, right? I can only do mine after 26 weeks. I also want to ask about the private room just to see how to allow my LG to come spend more time with us, but I have be cautioned by a few ladies that we must also think about ourselves and the newborn cause we forget we will need as much rest as well. the hospital I am going to use have what they call "sibling hour" during the day, so only the siblings can come spend time with the mummy and new baby, so I will def make use of that.

You are so right time is going by so fast and soon its going to be the last trimester.

looks lik heartburn may forgive me this time around, though I still have bad nausea, so m permanently on Asic tablets and they are helping a lot.

@Zaza, the hugs and kisses from daughter as well on my belly, she also asks me where her brother's mouth is so she kisses him, lol , clearly I have xray eyes :). well she seems to hav moved bak to our bedroom, evn if she falls asleep in her room, at around 3am, she cum to our bed coz she 'misses' her brother :) .

Sat went well, I hav attached my bump and an ultrasound... though its not so clear,. baba on track measured 543g,we were exactly 23 weeks on sat. Showed us the gender again, gynae said we can safely buy 4 team blue now :) seeing gynae again on the 5th of September, we wld be exactly 28 weeks, time flies guys, we wld be on our 3rd trimester then!

Good morning ladies, hope you all had a great weekend.

@Happi where are you, waiting to hear how your scan went, please post some bump and baby scan pics, can't wait to hear how your baby is doing and how much it has grown!!!

@Lashy good luck with your scan today, waiting for your share of info as well

@Dalene my LG also is very excited to be a big sister, currently at night we sit together and read stories or poems and she offers to sing to the baby, it's very cute, but each morning my belly gets a hug and kisses, it's her way to communicate with the baby. They really understand a lot at 4 years old, this weekend we open some of her old toy boxes from when she was born and she choose the toys she will be giving to the baby when the baby arrives, very proud of her. I'm just worried about the few days in hospital that she won't be with never been away from her before so I think I'm more paranoid but she will be with my hubby and mummy in good hands. I also been told to eat more bananas but also a glass of warm milk before bed, I tried the milk thing from Friday night and it seems to be helping a lot more, apparently the cramps are sometimes magnesium and calcium shortfall. When is your next scan, please share some of your bump pics with us.

@Nix how are you doing, I love the name you have chosen for baby, that's so precious, I am complete undecided still, lol. I have a few names but I don't feel in my heart yet that that is the one, Howz your daughter doing, I guess now she can address the baby by name may help her get used to the baby idea, cause she can name the baby now.

Yes Ladies Nix is completely right, the basics last you for the first 6 months, there after you can judge if you need the fancy stuff, whenever diapers, wet wipes are on special, but them cause you always need them, We have a pram/baby car seat combo, later became a stroller until my daughter outgrew it, fortunately some bought us a larger car seat that suited my daughter until 4 but she stopped using it by 2 as she learnt to unbuckle herself, she then just sat on a pillow and strapped with our regular car seat belts, they really outgrow or out smart the new fancy stuff so quickly. I also have a cot with the one side drop down so I can pull it against my bed to feed baby and put them back, @ 8 months she moved to the big bed cause she learnt to climb out the cot, lol, but she still sneaks into our bed now at 4 years old. Get a good pram though it is one of those things that you really really use, and one or two nappy bags, they also go through wear an tear often, cause you end up leaving the hand bag at home for a good few months, nappy baby becomes your all purpose bag :P :P

I did get a half doughnut preggy pillow, it did help when feeding baby, breast or bottle, you can prop the pillow around you, baby lies on it to feed and you can use your hands at least for a bit, later they can use it to sit and sleep also. I will think about other stuff that came in handy and let you know.

@pregnantfairy welcome and congrats on the new pregnancy, and finding out the gender, we still don't know. How are you feeling and doing, how is baby doing, and how big so far? you will enjoy this group, let us know what your like to know we have loads to share. You will find you will get hungry alot more frequently now, I find the warm glass of milk just before bed is helping to delay the 2am snack but sometimes you have to eat, baby wants it

Hi Ladies

How are you all doing? It's nice to meet you all :)

I have just discovered this group and it's nice to be able to chat on a local forum.
I am due 13 Dec... and I'm team blue. Had my 20 week scan yesterday and baby is doing well.

@nix8895, thanks for the list of some baby essentials. As a first time Mom, I think it's easy to get carried away and buy way too much stuff. On that topic, would anyone recommend a baby bath? I was thinking of just buying a seat to go in my bath... but not sure if it's easier with a baby bath.

I am constantly hungry at the moment, even wake up at 2am needing a snack. But otherwise pleased morning sickness has passed.

Hope all you ladies have a wonderful weekend and keep warm.

Morning Ladies

How is everyone today? I am feeling very lazy. I just wish I could sit on the couch or lie on the bed and watch my series and not talk or do anything and maybe have a nap :). Baby is moving around a lot. I just felt her stretching and when I felt my tummy the whole one side was hard :0). I am really starting to get uncomfy now.

Thank you for all your thought and prayers regarding my gran, she is still the same :0).

So have you got names in mind for your babies yet?
Ours will be Isabella Cynthia and the surname is Crosby. Cynthia is my husbands moms name. Daniella has my moms name as her second name - Jeanette. I have my grans name as my second name so its kind of a tradition :0).

@Zaza - U sometimes get vouchers from takealot so I just brought 100 huggies gold nappies for R199. My husband also had R100 off if you spend R250 or more so he ordered Nido :) and you can earn or spend e bucks :) and they have so many nice things. I feel like a penguin and I also am kinda waddling like one. Isabella was weighing 362 grams last Friday so its above average. I remember Daniella was always measuring ahead and she was 2.7 kg at 33 weeks and 3.42 kg a month prem with these long legs.

@ Nisha - The baby expo is very nice but go early because of the queues but you can get some really nice stuff there. there are so many different gadgets out there these days and it can actually make you feel overwhelmed . My advise is just because its more expensive doesn't always mean its better. U actually just need a pram/car seat combo, bottles - I used Nuk, you can buy newborn sets at the baby expo, I had two sets and they are really nice and some come with a microwave steriliser. U need a bottle steriliser and I have a dummy microwave steriliser which comes in real handy. I also got miltons for a back up because of the electricity power cuts we have and a one plated camping gas stove for boiling water also for a back up. A Cot, Campactum - I have one that the top flips open and there is a mattress on the one side and then a baby bath fits in at the top so that's really handy. U need some hooded towels, lots of vests and baby grows in the start, its the easiest. Vaseline for those first few days with that sticky poop, bum cream, nappies, wet wipes, soducream works wonders for a start of a nappy rash and it has so many other uses, aquerous cream, baby powder, surgical spirits for the cord, baby oil for the bath to make their skin nice and soft. Elizabeth annes special baby shampoo, nail clippes, hair brush, changing mat, face clothes, blankets, cotton wool and baby cotton buds. thick socks.
I think that's all the basics but as you go you will build up a stock of meds, etc. You also need a good digital ear thermometer and maybe some baby panado or empaped suppositories, they work quickly. the rest of the gadgets can come later :) Oh, also a baby monitor
At least you will soon be with your husband, just try get some rest, I know its easier said than done.

@happi - Goodluck with the scan tomorrow :0)

@New mommy - Welcome to the group. Tell us about yourself :0).

@Lashy - Happy belated birthday!!! I started eating a slab of milkybar white chocolate about an hour before my scan and finished it about 20 minutes before and seemed to do the trick so I really hope baby will reveal the gender this time.

@ Dalene - Congrats on joining team pink, hopefully more ladies will join us. :0). I have a 2 year old little girl so it will be nice for her to have a sister to play with.

Have a awesome weekend ladies! xxx

Hi there Zaza

I thought I was the only struggling with symptoms way earlier this time than in my first pregnancy. Its harder this time around for aswell, feeling heavier and I am already moving slower...

Awesome, so you will have more or less the same age gap between your 2. Have you started to buy some baby stuff or did you keep most of it? We didn't and now need to stock up all over again...

I am glad you doing good. My doctor also told me to eat more bananas and it really seems to help.

My daughter is extremely happy about her little sister... How is your one reacting? Luckily they are a bit older now and understands better.

You must have yourself a GREAT weekend :-)
