Been gone for a few days but I've missed so much...My story is long so please bear with me Will be back to catch up on what I've missed

After much walking and exercising(up and down the complex stairs) trying to convince my LO to come before Wednesday as I was scared of being induced she finally decided to come!

My birth story:

Had a lazy day Saturday(17 April) watching TV and eating I had given up trying to convince baby to come so kinda conditioned myself to accept that I will be induced as she was showing no signs of coming! I had no Brixton Hicks, no pains, no show NOTHING...Just a very active baby! The only difference I felt was that I had alot of energy and couldnt fall asleep. I eventually fell asleep @ 1am Sunday(18 April) and at about 5 woke up to go to the loo, when I got back into bed I just felt this warm liquid go down my legs and I thought I had lost control of my bladder or maybe I didnt empty it out I got up and put the lights on and this liquid just kept coming out, but still it hadn't clicked in my mind that my waters had broken I think after about 2 mins I realised what was going on and shouted for my mom to come see what was going on and she told me to go take a bath and put a sanitary towel on we going to the hospital. Took my bath and we left for the hospital. I still had no pain, no contractions nothing!

We got to the hospital @ about 6 and the nurse asked to see the colour of my water and she just looked @ me and said this does not look good @ all we prepping you up for a C Section the cord is around baby's body! She called my Dr while I changed into a gown and put on a monitor. My baby's heart was beating so fast the nurse went and called my doc again and told him to hurry as the baby was in distress!!! I went and took a bath while I waited to calm myself down as I was in tears and very scared. The day shift nurses came in and were told about my condition and then my dr finally arrived at about 08:30 he did and internal I was only 2 cm dialated and no contractions, no pain. My baby's heart had clamed down and dr asked the nurse to give me drugs to make my contractions come and to increase it every 30 mins and to keep an eye on the baby. The dr told me we could try for natural birth but if the baby's heart rate goes up again I will go for a C section.

@ 9 the drugs were put in my IV and the nurse told me if they get bad and I want an epidural I must tell her so that she can monitor the baby also. The pains started @ 10 and they just kept getting worse but baby was still ok and the dr and nurses were happy! @ 11 I told my mother to tell the nurse to call the dr I couldnt take the pains anymore and I was still only 3 cm therefore I was not progressing, the nurse asked if I want an epidural as it could help me progress and I said I wanted Pethidine instead as I was scared of the needle in my back...She gave me pethidine and it worked almost immediately. It didn't really take the pains away but made me sleepy! I fell asleep and woke up @ about 14:30 and told my mom(my birth partner) I needed to go to the toilet(did not get an enema)she called the nurse and she did an internal and I was 9 cm dialated. I walked to the delivery room she quickly prepped me up and put mylegs on stirrups and my dr came in said he could see the baby's head. The pethidine had weared off and was in pain again but all I wanted to do was push, the nurse told me to push and i took one big push and baby's head was out and then another push and the body was out.

Was waiting to hear a cry and didnt nurse quickly suctioned baby and gave her oxygen as she was blue and not breathing. The dr went to see what was going on and he was clam and I was in tears and suddenly I heard a little cry my baby was alive

Her initial APGAR score was 6\10 then 9\10. My LG was born 18 April 2010 @ 14:45 and weighs 2.87KG, her length is 49cm and her head circumference is 38cm. She is small but perfect for me

Will post pics as soon as I can. My milk came in on day 3 breastfeeding is coming along but still a bit sore

@Pinky Congrats on your LG she is just gorgeous

Hi ladies...

From my point of view who wanted to go natural and ended up in having a c-section I would encourage you guys to try the normal route first if you feel like it... I wouldn't change it if I had a choice again, I would go for the natural even if I have to end up in c-section again. It was a great experience to go through, although it was tough!!

C-section was quite painful... still is a little bit... but also not that bad!!

@ NICKY MG: I see we're both in the same boat! I also have to decide on an induction or a c-section and have NO idea which one to choose! DH also supports me either way although he can't understand why I want to push for hours and be in pain when I can have a c-section instead.

Pinky your birth story is lovely! Pity about the emergency c-section seeing that's not what you ultimately wanted, but in the end, you were presented with a gorgeous, healthy baby girl which is the main thing. Well done!!!

I now have 6 more days to go until my due date when the doctor will either induce or give me a c-section (due to medical reasons she wants baby out on it's due date). I have to make the decision on Monday as to what I want to do and STILL have NO idea! Hopefully my doctor can shed some light on Monday on what option is best for baby and me. Any comments on inductions ladies???

Oh another thing, to bring on labour, has anyone tried drinking Cod Liver Oil? I've been told to give that a try along with my raspberry leaf tea and Evening Primrose Oil.

Ahhhh Pinky - she's just gorgeous! Congrats on her arrival! Thanks for posting your birth story - it's always so lovely to read about what others have been through.

I'm going to see my doc today ( a day early), because I want to know if things are progressing. If my cervix isn't softening yet (at 40 weeks) what are the chances that it will without me going to 41 or 42 weeks - I don't think i could wait that long. **selfish, I know**

If I wait and see him tomorrow, only to be told he recommends a c-section, he may only do it next wed! I've finished that cocktail last night and nothing...only braxton hicks...arg, waiting isn't my strong point I tell you. I remember someone posting on PF that our docs should add a week on our EDD, that way we won't be so darn impatient lol.

I'm just not sure how I feel about choosing the date the baby is born - feels so unnatural to me (not critising anyone else's choices). Any advice ladies? I could wait to see what happens, ask for an induction or opt for a c-section...I feel so torn and DH says it's my choice and he'll support me. It didn't help the matter when I chatted to a friend who's done both and she says c-section is better - hands down
