Juno, i can see that Leandi likes sitting at the table, probably feels like a "big girl". i take her plate from the kitchen, hand her her spoon and then tell her "kom ons gaan eet" then she follows me to the living room, moves her chair closer and lifts her arms up so i can pick her up on the chair (when she plays she gets unto the chair herself). She eats with a baby fork or spoon, still very very messy, but she knows the action. brings it up to her mouth, mounted with food, half the time it falls off or she only gets a tiny bit in her mouth, thats why i feed her with the other spoon or fork
The colouring i started when she was about 1, she still puts the crayons in her mouth, but not half as much as in the beginning (luckily its non toxic) but i have figured out the "secret". i never give her more than 2 crayons. then she takes the coloring book, scribbles on the one page, me on the other page, then turns the page, and so we carry on. i can see that she is already holding the crayon with much more confidence and ease.
I sometimes feel like im not doing enough things with her, and am often scared she will become bored with what we are doing at the moment. she stays with the daymother, and although she is doing alot of little exercises, and playing with building blocks, i still feel that she is showing me that she is ready for so much more, if that makes sense. thats why i also started the clamber club with her, and she enjoys it immensely!!! and they also get "homework". this term we are doing shapes, and as soon as it warms up a bit i want to do some painting with her outside.
The first song we taught her was "oom olifant" and now when she sees the elephant she already goes "ho ho ho" coz she can distinguish him from the other animals. same with the dog, she imitates his bark. she also knows "daars vissies in die water ..." and when were in the bath she puts her hands together and try to make the same movement as me pretending that my hands are fishies. she is such a clever little girl really.
You really mustn worry about Liam, he is such a star trooper, he will catch up sooooo quickly, you will see. although i must admit that putting him in chreche (even if it is just for a few times a week) will do wonders for him. Or maybe just start by showing the nanny some fun exercises she can do with him. Just thought. My friends baby turned 1 on the 1st of march and he was also born prem at 36 weeks, and hes doing just as great, but compared to Liam (i know we shouldnt compare) Liam is doing much much better. R started crawling a week after his 1st birthday, he doesnt eat anything other than purity. he "grils" for any any funny textures. he wont even touch funny textures.
EP - AFU we are doing well. Leandi had a tummy bug last week, so its really bliss having her back to her old self. she refused to eat for almost a week, so to have her munching again is great. Ive got pms, but seems to be better today, and i just cant muster up the energy to go to gym. i feel despondent, and really couldnt care less, but on a positive note, i am really doing good cutting out all my bad foods, although i dont want to call it a diet.
