Yay to Lilly for sleeping well!
Yaz I started using nipple shields after Peyton almost bit them off. They were raw and bleeding and had toe curling pain whenever I fed. I used to dread feeding times anticipating the pain before I even started feeding :-(
My paed recommended I use nipple shields. What a relief after using them! However I found I couldn't feed without as she couldn't latch properly so I continued using it. My paed said its not causing any harm to either of us, we both happy so doesn't see a problem in me continuing with it.

Girly hope Miss K gets her day/night right today. I demand feed during the day and can sometimes feed very 1.5 to 3 hours depending on her mood.

DH still trying to make her sleep since 7h30

Wow you ladies chatted up a storm.

I feel surprizingly refreshed this morn. G just woke up. Well he woke up at about 4/5 and I put him in bed with me and fed him here and slept. He only just woke up.

@Patty: It does get a bit easier in the sense that you can distract baby while traveling. G used to hate the car seat. What I have done is hung a "bug" from the roof. Its a little wooden bug on a spring that bounces around. He just watches this bug the entire time we are in the car, it is my sanity savior. I will try get a pic of it later.

@ Girly: I totally agree rather elective than emergency. That way I would have stayed with my old Gynae and remembered all of the birth.

I am sure you hear this all of the time but it does get easier. Graeme used to hate his clothes being changed. Now he loves being naked even makes a specific noise while his bits are out. Very funny. But now is not so keen on me putting the sleeves in for some reason.

@Vash: I dont know. I dont think he sleeps that well, but after last night I am happy with his sleep again. exactly my sentiments, a child needs a home. Just out of curiosity would you ensure you adopt your ow race or you dont mind?

Oh hubby does not wake up at night or he cant go back to sleep. So I wake, dont mind really. I will only bitch if he complains about being woken. Like some nights he makes a lovely uhah uhah noise. Thats when I want to leave G to start crying and wake him properly. Men lol.

@Girly: I demand feed, but in the beginning G was not allowed to go more than 3 hours as he had not gained weight fast enough. Now its just whenever he wants. That being between 3 and 4 hourly. BUt if he is niggly, he will have a comfort feed.

@Nikki: It may sound obvious but don't forget to thank him. You are a lucky lady.

I say babies stop pooing at night and here my boy does a ripe one. :P Dont want to do it.

Morning Moomies :) yay, Lilly slept from 19.30 till 1.30 and then again till 4.45. She's been awake since and will hopefully go back to sleep in a bit. Nikki, so sorry you feel cheated about your birth experience. I'm so lucky my cervix was favourable and didn't end up with emergency c. I wonder what his c section rate is, prob 90 %! My friend in Germany is 41 weeks pregnant with a plus 4kg baby (she is tiny herself) and they easily let her go overdue without even mentioning induction or c. I'm considering having my next baby back at home but then we'll have all the hassle with SA Citizenship. We're planning on two kids, probably start ttc again towards the end of 2012. Girly, I'm sure hubby will take it a lot easier once K starts smiling. Shame I understand your frustration. Niks, the exact same thing happens to my hubby all the time lol, they go through three nappies with each change. Bronz, I love Naartjie and will also spoil Lilly with some clothes over the weekend. Patty, glad you arrived safely. We'll be flying to Germany in December with the little Madam and I'm already dreading it! Hope they get more portable the older they get. Vash, sjoe, every two hours, shame hun. Does he feed each time? Nikki, are your nipples sore? You mentioned latching problems and nipple shields? Have you spoken to a lactation consultant yet? The ladies from Panorama Breastfeeding Clinic saved my left nipple lol! If it hadn't been for their help I would sit with only one nipple today I believe! It was worse than labour pains when Lilly latched. Turned out to be a simple positioning problem in the end. The next day everything was perfect and has been ever since. La Leche League is also great! Ok, Missy is back in her cot, now gotta sort out the dogs. Have a lovely Saturday, ladies! x

nikki so glad peyton slept nicely tonight. She must be exhausted.
Im amazed at those whose husbands wake up in the night. I think i would have a very grumpy man if mind did so for now i rather just do it alone. This morning he took her from 8am to give me a chance to sleep which is very early for him on a weekend so i am grateful. Unfortunately she was awake but not happy so i could not sleep as i dont sleep if i can hear her. Hopefully this morning he will take her again and she will be more calm.
I kinda feel bad for him. On the weekends we are busy so there isn't ouch routine. She is only calm awake for about 20-30 mins after feeds and then she gets a bit fussy. So he doesnt get ouch enjoyment out of her yet. Whereas I am with her all day and even tho its short i do get some nice quality time.
Ive had to tell him he offer to deal with it for now, remind him that its not like this for long but i think its very frustrating for him. This definitely adds to the tension at home.

Kaylee is now 6 weeks. We are patiently (not) waiting for that smile. I think that will be nice for hubby. I know it could take a couple more weeks but hope she will smile soon!

Nap time now. Lets see what this next stint will bring us.

Oh yes, gotta eat my words. 2 feeds in a row without a dirty nappie :)

me again. Kaylee is feeding 3 hourly tonight :( At the braai today she was waking up 3.5 to 4 hourly. Because wd were out I did not want to wake her but now I regret it. Tomor I will have to wake her 3 hourly to make sure she does not mix day and night. Struggling to keep my eyes open.

Nikki I hear you on the pee. She often does it once nappie off. Often i end up having to change clothes which she hates.

Another question forgive and ignore if I already asked it. Do you demand feed or schedule feed them during the day?

Shew Im exhausted. Nappie changing time now. Really really hope ed get 4 or 5 hrs.

So Peyton hardly slept at all during the day yesterday, finally managed to get her to at 18:00 although as soon as I layed her in the crib so got up, so held her 2 hours. She had her bath an hour later and was so tired after her feed she fell asleep quickly. Has been sleeping since 21h00 and got up at 2h45. Almost asleep now.

@Girly - DH has taken to fatherhood like a duck to water, however he and I still fight because he still doesn't understand the importance of sleep and winding her down before her naps. When ever he tries he make her sleep he ends up overstimulating her cos he plays with her. He doesn't get to spend with because by the time he gets home I've already bathed and fed her.

At night/early mornings he gets up at each feed to change her and gets me ready to feed, brings her, feeding cushion, nipple shields, face cloth, etc to me in bed and then goes back to bed.
Because he changes a lot of her nappies, she had many "accide
On him ;-) now being the latest. He was pushing her thighs up against her tummy to help release wind and when he opened her nappy, she let rip all over him ;-)

We not planning for any more babies just yet even though we would both like a boy in about 2 years.

Chat later ladies, hope you all resting

Hi ladies. DH just got back and Liam also woke up so i got 3 hours sleep inbetween.
Bronz, how do you get graeme to sleep so well? Re adoption, if DH wants 5 and i don't want to go through the pregnancy and labour bit 4 more times i wouldn't mind adopting a child. It would be wonderful to give a child a home and a family. Enjoy the shopping.
Patty, glad you arrived safely. I'm not sure about travelling with babies but i think most of them will get irritable on a long trip. Liam also doesn't like to spend too long in the car.
Girly, i hope you get some sleep. DH also thinks i get to sleep during the day but liam only sleeps for 30 mins during the day that by the time i fall asleep he is awake again and then i need to use that time to bath or clean or cook. Re poo nappies, Liam had them at night for the 1st 2 months and now he doesn't poo at night. Its normal for babies to poo so much. Liam loves his swing. He can fall asleep in it quite easily but now he prefers to rest his feet on the table attachment and swing away. Its too cute, i must post a pic of him doing that. Anyway goodnight ladies.
