file Burning the midnight oil together

Hi ladies. I have alot of catching up to do! Liam is still waking every 2 hours and its taking its toll on me.
Girly, my DH and i also used to have huge fights after Liam was born. It ranged from not spending enough time together to money issues and even sex. There was even a time i felt that i just wanted to leave. It will get better though. Re the helper, how frustrating! I think the sooner you get rid of her the better for you. I also get very frustrated sometimes because you now have someone thats totally dependant on you and you just don't have time for yourself. My DH tries to help out with Liam but Liam doesn't want anyone but me. Sounds like K is going through the 6 week growth spurt. Liam feeds every hour when he's having a growth spurt.
Patty, i also have a problem putting Liam down to sleep. When he was newborn he would only want to sleep on my or DH's chest. Thankfully he doesn't like that anymore and it's getting easier to put him in his cot to sleep. It's good that Una naps for so long, Liam only sleeps for 30 mins at a time. Have a nice trip.
Yaz, Liam also used to have mini feeds at night but now he has full feeds but now he can have a full feed in 10 mins.
Nikki, re the hunger, i don't really feel hungry at night but i do wake up very hungry in the morning and i snack alot during the day. I'm finding it hard to lose all the pregnancy weight.
Bronz, i just love the smiles! Sometimes i get so frustrated by Liam's crying and then he will just smile and my heart melts. Its too precious. Liam has also learnt to move around his cot while on his back. He pushes his feet against the mattress and pulls his upper body up. Have to be more careful with him now.
Girly, the blocked nose is because their nostrils are so tiny its easy to get blocked.
Well i'll spend today at home. DH had to go to work. Have a nice day ladies.

Ok I am doing something wrong. Last night he woke up crying twice. has to be settled then fed. Do they have nightmares at this age?

Since he did not get enough sleep last night he is asleep now. After normally waking at 7.

Patty good luck with you trip :)

Girly do you have a humidifier? G only got a bad blocked nose in joeys, but i think that was from the dry air up there.

Ok G is now crying and snorting in his sleep.

Hey all. James slept through again, so it looks like we have gone back to his good old habits. Still read the post to see how the other new mommies are doing:)

@Yaz, it sounds like your lo is using you to comfort her back to sleep instead of actually feeding. If she wakes up in the middle of the night and she fed recently why dont you try rock her and see if that works. As she gets older she may get better at going back to sleep on her own.

@Girly, it def sounds like Kaylee is colicky. James was too, and I found that he got so irritable after 5 that he seemed to want to eat all the time until about 10ish - but it seemed to make things worse. You need to figure out what works for Kaylee, but what I did was I used to give James telement drops with his 4/5 feed and then try keep him calm. I started looking at how often he had fed during the day and instead of demand feeding I would go on the day (so if it was 2hourly then he would only get the boob at 7 etc..) This seemed to help a little. My hubby and I then leernt to do anything to try help the crying. A few nights we put him in the car and randomly drove around (it calmed him down), otherwise walking arund the garden with him facing down (tummy down) also calmed him. Then it started getting better until it stopped at about 12 weeks. There were days where he seemed to scream for 4 hours non stop.... Shame man I know its tough:)

Its great that you have a paed so supportive of breatsfeeding. Although most know the benefits of breastmilk, there is no training on breastfeeding for them while at Uni, so most dont seem to have a clue how to support it(unless they have done post graduate interest training)

my turn again. K stopped feeding now because of a blocked nose. Went from ok to screaming, I really started to panick. She usually fights the saline drops but tonight she welcomed them. She gets a blocked nose every night. Is it normal at this age?

I also always need the loo when I wake up for feeds. I think its partly all the juice and water I drink at night and partly that i probably dont go often enough during the day cos i get distracted.

@ Bronz so cute that he is smiling at daddy. Makes it worth while being up. But hope he will settle soon.
Wow on the big feed! Let us know how it goes.

Patty i feel same about my in laws. They are as close to me as my own parents. They live 20mins away so dont exactly rush to see them but we see them weekly. How often do you see yours? You must enjoy your trip and hope you get some sleep in between.

Nikki hope peyton will let you sleep. Maybe she is going thru a growth spurt if she is more niggly than normal?

Time to change her then hopefully some more Z's for us.

We r up & princess thinks it's time to play :) :( just need 1more nap (hopefully 2hrs or more longer) b4 we start preparing to go.

You hear & read so much about bad MIL, but I have one of the best ones I must say :) I look forward to visiting them all de time, being @ my in-laws is as good as being @ my own parents' home :)
only down side is one of my SIL loves comparing her kid to mine, very irritating  all babies develop @ their own rates!

I'm gonna get some well deserved rest, as we wanna teach Una to drink from de bottle. We failed with DH, so hopefully MIL wil help us.

The loo visits @ night r annoying, you'll think that would go away after pregnancy :( Pampersshuld look into making nappies for mommies also he he he.

Time for last nap :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

@ Patty - goodluck with your road trip tomorrow and enjoy the weekend with the family
Glad to hear Una slept during the day makes a huge difference at night hey?

@Girly - so exciting, Miss K's first outing, I still remember how excited (and nervous) I was with Peyton's first outing. Was fussing around her a bit too much until DH told me to relax. :-)

@Yaz, hope Miss Lilly is catching her Z's finally! Re midnight snacks, I'm one of unhealthy eaters that can eat anytime of the night and day. DH just made me a snack now so feel a lot better :-)

She is almst asleep now so can hopfully get some sleep myself, catch up in a few hours
