My heart strings pull for baby matthieu, precious boy has been through so much already. Meags even if he doesn't take a dummy offer him your nipple whilst he sleeps to dream feed. Like mandz says they are calm feeds.

Tanya I see you birthed Corgan at Parklands, which is about 4 minutes away from where at stay (in Musgrave off Ridge Road). Where in Dbn are you? Mandz and I are keen to organise a Dbn moomie get together:)

copied from my thread

Just wanted to say I feel like the world's worst mother!
Matt was so constipated from the formula (I started him back on breastmilk this morning). He hasnt had a poo since Monday.
So went to the paed for the 1 month check up.
They had to put a rod up his bum (not too far in) to stimulate him to poo. He cried at first then you could see him trying to push (he has never had to actively push before to poo - it always just comes out easily) and then she had to try manually remove some poo and it was bleeding a bit and finally he managed to push some poo out. I was so so sad for him and decided he just CANT have formula again!!

Then second bit of feeling like world's worst mother. Matt has only gained 430g since birth. Paed says although it's in a 'normal' range, its on the leaner side and he isnt happy with it. Turns out I have been under feeding him when I saw the paed at 5 days, he said I was over feeding and only to give him 2 ounces of milk. So that's what I have been doing. Turns out thats only for a 1-2 week old baby. He is suppose to be on minimum 3 ounces, better to be drinking 4 ounces. so I feel so so so guilty and bad. I knew he didnt look like he was plumping out and every time said something to my mom or DH they just said he is a thin baby. and we didnt really think there was a problem since he's become really tall.
so now tha paed wants us to increase the feed (double it) and to add rice cereal to the milk. I am not happy doing this...but paed says Matt needs to get as many calories as possible at the moment and wants to check again in 2 weeks. so perhaps if he has gained nicely by then, I can stop the rice cereal.
He said I also need to make a decision about the BF. He wants me sorted by the next visit. so I have 2 weeks to get Matt BF or he will finish off the EBM in the freezer and then back onto that bloody formula. I explained that Matt is on a slow teat bottle (to trasition him onto the breast) and by 2 ounces he is so angry with the slow release that he stops eating. He said Matt needs calories and I need to give him faster teat and figure out another way to get him onto the breast.

so yes, I am feeling rather iffy about it all and then DH went and shouted at me now that I havent bothered going to the hospital to get the invoice to get re-imbursed for when I had the haemorrhoids....like I sit around doing nothing all day. Never mind he sleeps until 11-12 every morning while I sit awake with Matt from 5am while he cries. I feel like DH and I will never have a good relationship again with each other. He is so disinterested in me sexually, he hardly talks to me anymore. He never cuddles me or comes to sit by me. Yes he is a good dad to Matt and he has been doing the 2am feed and is helpful in the afternoons. But I'm very sad for our relationship with each other and I dont even know where to begin to fix it when I have a baby who cries non stop.

so Matt now weighs 3.71kg and is 54.5cm tall (so grown 3.5cm). I didnt see his head circumference. The nurse was also very concerned about his crying and that he stops breathing and turns purple until you blow in his face...but what am I suppose to do? He is just like that.

I hope now that he is getting a sufficient amount of food he might not cry as much after a feed. Cant believe I was starving him You know after newyum mum posted about the different cries, I listened to his and it was always the 'hungry cry' and I thought 'he cant be hungry....cos we struggle to get him to finish 2 ounces so if he was hungry why doesnt he just eat?' well...if we give him the fast teat, he guzzles down 3 ounces so yes...poor child is hungry

Hi Suhaila,
sorry for being MIA everyone.

Been a bit busy, hubby still sick and it's been a month now -Sinus and Flu. Need to go back to specialist next Friday - to see if the sinus infection is cleared up and then there's 2 operations that need to be done on him. One to open up his nose bones that are narrowed (so much that he can barely breath trough his nose) and a sinus operation.
And this last week i'm also fighting the Flu, not nice trying to take care of DH and LO's while also not feeling well.

Hope - everyone is doing ok, sorry for no personals now, i have been reading all the posts, but can't seem to find the time to reply when i want to.
Will try to find some time tomorrow, Promise*

For the one's going away this easter, save trip*

Suhaila-Thats a good suggestion for Meags, I know Jordyns bottle at like 2 or 3am is so peaceful, he just drinks from beginning to end while he sleeps...if he doesnt burp i put him back in his cot and thats that. Meags, calm baby, calm you-try it :-) Let us know if it works...You make me wish I had pushed through with BF! Suhaila have you started Aaqil on Veg yet? I am glad his tummy is settling especially since you are going away..

Meags does M take a dummy? If he does you can try this suggestion. When her is next asleep with the dummy in his mouth, hold him close pull pull out the dummy and pop in your nipple. Some of the calmest feeds are dream feeds:)

Mandz those nasty cows, grrs at them on your behalf. Their mistake must now cost you:(

Vix going to buy the mag now. How is C? Are u still winning or are you taking him in for play therapy?

MommyN I hope the pead has some suggestions for you. It must be draining!

Yvette I hope option 3 works out for you it seems like the win-win one:)

Lizelle where are you.

I think Aaqils gums are hardening, he caught my finger and used it to rub his gums. At least his tummy is settling! 2 more sleeps:)

Well firstly I am so livid I'm going to vent! UIF claims that they overpaid me by R1700 and I owe them else they take me to court! WTH!!!! I mean I waited 2 months before I got my first payment. So when I went to sign for the 3rd payment they asked when I was back at work, so i said the following week...So i got a date a month later to go sign -when i would be back to work. When the third payment came through, I got two payments and i assumed it was 3rd and 4th together. Well I can tell you now i dont have that kind of money, but what leg do i have to stand on? They dont ever tell you the amount to expect so how was I to know. Any advice? Should I call them? apparently i have 60 days to pay it back!

SO I was having a perfect day until I just got that in the post now!

LOL VIX---Are you sure about that award now? *blush* I think it is a great idea to flog the single pram and try for a double- I mean you dont necessarily have to get the Jeep twin do you? And about the Purity- thanks ...I really think we as moms just need to trust our insticts sometimes. I" have just cokked sweet potato and will see how that goes. I have noticed yesterday and today he isnt very keen on the cereal and veggies...Could this possibly be teething? I have noticed extra itchy gums, he is chewing and even biting his dummy teat*I swear if he had teeth his dummies would be teatless*...man i wonder when this tooth will come out!I just sort of let him have how ever much he wants and if he doesnt want so be it... I know the milk is his real food at the mo. Thanks for all the advice Vix- I am enjoying cooking for him-its really no biggie...I just wanted to know my options you know-like you say if you caught out and about etc.

Meags- How are you doing today? I just read your post, man Meags you are really going through a tough time...It must be so difficult that feedtime is such a fight. BUT well done on the 5 minutes of BF!!!!! Must have felt like heaven. Is your mom leaving soon hey? Ok so you must have seen the Paed by now, curious to hear what he/she said? What Vix said sounds like its a possibility, reflux? Hang in there, things can only get better :-) Wish I had more constructive advice :-(

Yvette-Wow you have a lot to do in ten days, what have you decided. Its the one reason I am glad have MIL to take care of J during the day, the illness part of creche is the greatest downfall. But I will have to send him from a year or year and a half. I think your solution sounds like a good idea. And I agree, Corgansmoms story is very inspiring. She is a good friend of mine and when a week before my baby was due she sent me a message saying she had delivered Corgan---like just over halfway through her pregnancy--- I knew I was blessed to have carried FT. I had a similar experience of NICU and Emergency C section but J survived. I remember on our last night in hospital, I was chatting to the nursery sister, and she basically said to me Meconium Aspiration is extremely dangerous and the saving factor for us was that he was a full term baby and fairly bigger (3.65kg)... I went cold. Because though we were frightened from day one, because our Paed was so positive, and didnt unnecessarily scare us-we never really though things could have ended horribly. We battled those 3 days with him NICU and Tanya did it for 3 months- what an inspiration to everyone. I mean when I had long nights with little sleep, it would be what made me remember how lucky i was to have a crying/hungry baby at home with us... We should always remember that.

My birth story: www.moomie.co.za/forum/4-pregnancy-and-b...ml?limit=15&start=60 about 3/4 of the way down on page 5. Let me know if you find it Yvette..

Suhaila- Is Aaqil doing better???? Teething nappies, do you think? Shame, and all he wants is the momma I'm sure :-(

To everyone else...Hi and hope LOs are doing well....

Today is Sweet Potato day 1 lets see how that goes :-)

Now after this post I feel way better...though next to me that horrible letter from UIF awaits my attention!
