Thanks for all the replies re mpads. Do we have to use mpads in hospital or can I not just buy extra thick normal pads? Yikes, I don't know when last I used a pad. Hate the things.

Solo, the amount of mpads you will require differs from gal to gal I guess... it all depends on how much you will be bleeding..i remember last yr with my 1st born I used up a packet and a half during my hospital stay alone coz I was bleeding quite a bit, it eventually eased up after the 4th day and i used normal Always pads after that but the heavy duty kind...so buy at least 2packets maternity and lots of "normal" pads for after that coz u bleed for about 6 weeks (but its generally just spotting in the last few)..

And I agree with laurakim, the mpads are really yukky! I was so self-concious whilst wearing them coz they are so big and bulky...I was always so paranoid that you could see them through my clothing

Those proper maternity pads are yuk! I bought them first time round but they were horrible!

Solo, that is so sweet, that your mom is reading your books. Wish i had someone to read mine & tell me what they say. I bought one pack of those maternity pads and a pack of the extra thick Always pads. Those maternity pads look like they'll leak everywhere! But don't listen to me i'm just a very stobborn first time mom!

Solo - I bought normal pads - just the strongest one.

So far I have bought 2 bulk packs but you generally bleed for about 6 weeks and it does "ease" but not sure how many packs you would need though!
