Adele - Happy Belated Birthday to you! :) Sorry to hear about the UTI, they are not fun! I hope you're feeling better. How did the scan go? Did you find out the gender?

Stacey - I wish you all the best with the transfer, it's irritating that these things take SO long to go through. I can totally understand that you want to be settled well before baby arrives. I'm sure baby will turn - there is still lots of time. At the last scan my baba was also in breech...sort of. He was lying diagonally with his head on the right side of my stomach and his feet towards my groin. But I feel kicks in weird places and have also been feeling weird movements like he is somersaulting or something, so I'm hoping he'll move into position in time too. I can't believe you're 22 weeks already! I hope you enjoy the cricket tomorrow!

Anni- I'm sorry to hear about your MIL, my prayers are with your family. It sucks that you're feeling so sick :( I hope you feel better before your trip to India, it wouldn't be nice to travel while you're still feeling under the weather. From what 2kmm says, it sounds like it's completely normal that you're not really feeling anything. Let us know if you do go for your scan.

2kmm - I can imagine how difficult it must have been to have to do that gender switch. I am certain I would probably mourn too. I'm afraid that even though they've told me "boy" twice, it might still end up being a girl!

AFM- I am STARVING all the time. I've no doubt I'm going to pick up some more weight really quickly. I woke up the other night from a bad dream and couldn't fall asleep again because I was so hungry. I actually had to get out of bed to make a sandwich. At 3am! I eat about 6-8 small meals a day and they're now starting to be bigger meals, it feels ridiculous.

We also just found out that dh's cousin, who is due two weeks after me, is also having a boy :). It would have been cool if she was having a girl too but this way it's nice because our baby boy is going to have a little buddy the same age to rough and tumble around with (although there will now be enough boys in dh's family to run our own soccer team, his sister has 2 older boys, his brother has a boy a year old, and he has two more cousins who have little boys too!)

Hi Everyone!

yay, it's Friday!

Ronel, Congratulations on the Boy!

Michellejvv, Happy Belated Birthday! Hope you had a fabulous day. I had mine yesterday and I also turned 36!

Sicha, How are you doing?

Firefly, Thanks for the great links. They are really useful. That stroller sounds nice. I haven't even start to look for one.

Anni, Sorry about your MIL. Hope you are feelling better yet. And if its any consolation, I don't think there is a mom in this world that gets sick leave! The joys of motherhood. ;)

2kidmamma, How is work treating you? I am so looking forward to this weekend, that I can sleep only an hour later!

Michele1975, I so smiled on your comments about your MIL. My mother is like that. I just think of that Standard Bank advertisement of a couple of years back. " And what did you say? Nothing Dad, I just smiled" Well, I just say yes mom, smile and go do whatever I wanted to anyway. I allow changes in my routine with the grandparents, they only have a little while, and my baby comes home with me and has to put up with whatever I want. There is just a couple of things, when I put my foot down, like when my MIL wanted me to mix porridge in my dd bottle! Hell no!

Stacey, Enjoy the cricket. I'll be watching it on the TV!

Anyway, me - I had a hectic week. It started with an UTI, not fun. Whilst hubby still made me cook and go shopping! GRRRR. Then I had to finish my budget presentations. Yesterday was my B-day, so after I finished my presentations, I could take it a bit easier.

Today I'm seeing my gynae again. Hopefully, I will be able to see the gender. We haven't had much luck so far. Weather permitting, we might go fishing tomorrow. If it rains, I am staying at home! Relaxing.

Enjoy the weekend!

Hello mamma!

How u all doing? Been so hectic with getting all the paperwork in order to move! We hoping the transfer goes thru ASAP, but from all our discussions we hoping to move in 1 April either way, even if that means we have to pay occupation. At least we have have some idea of when we will be moving and will give us about 6-7weeks to settle before baba arrives.

The last 2 weeks back at work have been so busy, I'm so glad it's Friday!!!!

Went for a scan on monday and nugget is doing great :) can't believe I'm 22weeks.
I have put on 4.6kg so far. With my son I also put on 20kg, and lost everything but 4kg. It's strange coz everyone commented how good I looked, but looking back at pics, I looked shocking!!! I'm also really trying to be good this time round, !!! But I'm worried I'm putting on to much...sigh

At the moment nugget is in breach, and gyne says there is PLENTY of time for him to turn, but its been on the back of my mind! I guess the lil nugget will decide how he is coming out at the end of the day. Hehe

What u all up to this weekend? We going to watch cricket at te wanderers on Sunday, im looking forward to it!

Have a fab day xxx
How u ladies all doing?

@ Anni, I am 19 weeks now and as you have an anterior placenta. I hardly feel any movement either. All should be fine with you but if it will help settle your mind then you should try go have that scan.

Hi all,

Its been a really hectic week. After we got the wonderful news that our green cards were approved, we received a call that my MIL passed away. It was sudden and DH has taken it really bad. Its been such a sad week for us and I am just trying to be as supportive as I can.

I got the flu (again!) and have been flat out in bed. Unfortunately one of the perks of being a SAHM is that you don't really get sick leave so its been difficult over the past few days. The weather here has been strange. Not as cold as previous years and no rain at all. And then suddenly somebody turned on the heat again. I guess your defenses are also quite low when pregnant. So my house is standing on its horns with washing reaching the ceiling now. DD has been getting tummy aches so she couldn't go to school for 2 days. She went this morning. DH said he will just take her in any case. I got a chance to do some cleaning up at least without having to focus on her as well. No cooking yay! DH said we will order take-aways tonight again.

I still haven't felt much movement and am starting to worry a little. I had one late miscarriage in 2006 at around 18-20 weeks so I guess it is more stressful for me. My next appointment is only on the 7th of Feb and I don't know if I can wait until then. Thinking of just going and having a quick scan done this weekend to put my mind at ease.

@ Michelle, I know exactly how you feel about thinking you were getting one Gender and then finding out the doctor was wrong. With my Son we were told all along it's a girl and then around 30 weeks we were told "Oh sorry, hope you didn't buy too much pink stuff but you are actually having a boy" Do you know that for a few nights I woke up crying in the night in my dreams and my DH and I talked and decided it was probably my way of handling the "Loss" of the baby girl I thought I was having. We had given her a nam (Mila Nicole) and I had really been bonding with the baby. It was very weird but the subsconcious is very strong and i was obviously mourning the loss eventhough I still had a very healthy baby boy inside me.

2kmm - I find that conversation really funny too! I've also been researching cloth diapering and from everything I've read it is SO much cheaper than disposables. And then the cute colours and patterns that you get just sold me :) My dh is keen on doing it too and from the video demonstrations that I've seen, it doesn't look like it's that much more difficult. My mom is rather skeptical about it though and we're not even telling my MIL yet! I'm going to try to get as many as I can before we come home because they seem to be cheaper here.

Thanks for the advice on the doula. I'm seriously going to consider it, although their rates are pretty high. I'm not sure how much they charge in SA but from what I've read it seems that the going rate is anything from R4000 to R8000.

3.2kg is great! I found this weight tracker on babycenter - www.babycenter.com/pregnancy-weight-gain-estimator. It's pretty cool because you just put in your weight and height (although you need to convert, but you can google that) and then it gives you a graph showing the range of weight you should ideally be putting on and shows you where you are in that range.

Michelle- Congrats on the girl! :) I'm sure it must be tough to do that mental turnaround! I was just saying to my dh the other day that now that I'm so used to the idea that our little one is a boy I couldn't imagine carrying a girl. I read that at 12 weeks (so presumably at 13 weeks too) both boys and girls have little "parts" so the way they determine the sex is by looking at the angle of the parts (they call it "the angle of the dangle" lol!) - not as accurate as later on when baby has actually developed! (see www.baby2see.com/gender/external_genitals.html)
