Hi Ladies :)

Michelle, Happy Belated Birthday! Hope you had a great one. Glad to hear the scan went well. Sounds like you got an awesome deal on the pram. Nu Shifa sounds really reasonable.

Ronel and Sischa, congrats on the blue! :) At first it looked like girls were going to dominate this group but it's changed around completely.

My scan yesterday went well, baby's organs are all looking good - so cool to see the four chambers of his little heart :) Again though, he wouldn't sit still long enough to get a decent pic, I've got an active little dude!

Also did the tour of the second birthing centre, it is more like a labour ward in the hospital - looks and feels like a hospital- but you can choose ob/gyn care or midwife care and they do things like rooming in, immediate bf, immediate skin to skin contact. I'm in two minds but dh definitely likes the second birthing centre better!

Here is the updated list - I may have missed people along the way, especially some of the new ladies (Stephy, when are you due?). Please let me know if I have left anyone one (and sorry if I have!):

1 April (40 weeks) Barbara-Ann
23 April (38 weeks) Champers c-section girl

Hi all, Rebecca's checkup went well... Gynae says she's a tall skinny one, weighing about 800g already!! I've only picked up 3.8kg's according to the gynae's scale so I'm super chuffed about that... Rebecca was alternating sucking her thumb and waving at us during the scan. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Hi all, glad to see everyone made it to the otherside of the festive season intact! Welcome Michelle1975 to our group!! 25 weeks this week and I've started waddling :P Rebecca is lying very low, just like my first dd, and likes to karate chop my bladder when she's not playing drums on it!! Lots of kicks and rolls at the moment and last week my dd got to feel her first kick, she screamed and jumped up and down she was so excited!!

I picked up a Chelino travel system off gumtree.co.za last week for R800, super chuffed with myself for spotting the ad- pram & car seat sorted! And it is in immaculate condition as well, you can't even tell it's 2nd hand- attached a pic.

I have my next check up tomorrow morning, can't wait to see Rebecca again and it's on my birthday- 36 tomorrow

Oh and have booked and paid for my bed at Nu Shifa in Overport, Durban. What an impressive and immaculate hospital, I was blown away!! And their maternity package is not bad- R6,600 for normal delivery with their midwifes and on staff gynae, this includes pain relief in the form of pethidine and gas- epidurals are extra, and you stay in 24 hours from time of delivery. I got a tour of the labour and maternity wards and just the fact that there were two security access controlled entry points just to get to that section of the hospital impressed me!!

Well have a great day everyone- I'm very greatful for the aircon in my office in this heat!!

Hi Ladies :)

2kmm, hope you're enjoying your leave :) Let us know how your scan goes tomorrow, my 18 week scan is booked for Thursday!

Anni - it's great you've found a supportive doc, though it sounds terribly expensive. I can understand you not wanting to shell out money for the insurance in Dubai when you're planning to go to SA to have the baby anyway.

Adele- glad to hear you're feeling so good :) If you have to go med-free, you should definitely look at hypnobirthing. I'm doing the hypnobabies and its actually making me look forward to doing the birth without meds :)

AFM - we are on the hunt for a nice birthing centre here, we did a tour of one yesterday and have a tour of another one scheduled for tomorrow evening. I really like the policies of the one we saw yesterday except for a few things (and the kitsch decor). I've also finally started feeling well enough to do some exercise - I ordered a prenatal workout dvd in the first trimester and only opened it two days ago! I did it on Sunday and didn't think it was that intense (I used to do Adventure Boot Camp back home so this felt like half the effort) but then I spent the whole of yesterday grumbling about my thigh muscles being sore, so I'm guessing it was pretty effective and/or I am out of shape.

Have also started feeling the baby kick/move more and more over the last three weeks. Now I regularly feel him kick every evening and most mornings. Feels like involuntary little twitches in my stomach, lol.

Morning Ladies,

I am still suffering holiday lag! I think I should start planning a weekend getaway to escape the post holiday depression! Oh, how I wish I could be on holiday forever B)

Anni, You are a real globetrotter ;) Must be fun. I also want to try a VBAC this time around. Although my C-section experience were great, hardly a scar and almost no recovery time, I could not get a spinal and had to sleep through my daughter's birth
I would probably have to go all naturelle! (I am really really scared; but I would probably live through it as has millions before me) I do not want to miss the birth of this LO.

Michelle1975, Welcome to the thread! I hope you've had a wonderful experience so far and will continue to have so. It is so special with your firstborn. I have the same birthdate, and I am turning 36 in a week or so. ;) I personally would have loved to have another c-section, if it wasn't for the problems with the spinal injections! I think it is great that we as mommies, get so much choices to fit our individual needs. My mother told me she went both natural and c-section, and they were both wonderful experiences.
I haven't even start to buy baby stuff, with my firstborn I had an oversupply of so many things. Ended up not using half of the stuff. This time around, I am much more conservative with the buying.

Stacey, are you surviving back at work!

2kidmamma, Congrats on your daughters birthday. Enjoy the last couple of days' leave :P

I am still doing well. Actually I am doing great! With Lene I had high blood pressure, headaches etc etc. This time around I am so healthy, my blood pressure is still down and I am feelling much better. Struggling with the heat, but at least it is a bit cooler this week.

I picked up 3kgs since the beginning of the pregnancy. I think it was all the take out over the holidays. Right now, I better watch what I stuff myself with diligently!!!!! I promised myself I would walk 30minutes each day. I am know on day 4 and it is still going good. I must just stick with it.
