Hi ladies - where is everyone? And birth stories?! :)

Anni, as far as I'm concerned, my date has always been 13 June - this was the date my doctors originally calculated according to my cycle and the very first ultrasound said 12 June. I didn't realise that when I moved over to the midwives that they calculated it differently - I only found that out last week which is why I asked if they'd change it back to the 13th, I prefer the later date because the pressure to medically induce is delayed as well!

I'm now 4 days over and I'm feeling a little tired but I'm happy to wait for this little guy to decide to come out :) It's more our family that is all stressed out and putting pressure on us actually! Makes me thankful that we're in a different country, lol.

Pity about your GBS test! I've read that sometimes they can give an injection instead of a drip? That may allow you to get the shot a bit later and stay home longer? As for hot compresses, I think you can just take normal face towels and have someone run them under hot water and fold them up and use those. I've also asked for that if I don't get to waterbirth (my hospital only has one delivery room that can accomodate the birthing tub so it just depends on whether it's open when I go in).

I also haven't been practicing the eyes-open stuff as often as I should but I still trust that the techniques will work. There is an article on the Yahoo group about actively CHOOSING to make hypnosis work while you're in your birthing time and hopefully I want to do that!

Sounds like your doctor is awesome, so glad you found someone who you are happy with :)

Firefly... not sure why these guys blocked the site. So silly. I even sent off an email to them and they just came back with a standard response that due to TRA regulations its blocked. I am going to start week 5 tomorrow so lets hope it all works for me during my birthing time. Haven't been practicing the eyes open finger drop technique... Just wish I had more time in a day.

I did not get any BH during my first pregnancy (that I can remember!) so don't worry too much about it. Each pregnancy is definitely different. I wonder if its a good or bad thing that your dates have been amended at this stage... One just gets this mental block about the whole EDD thing and its pretty hard when you start going over. I think the key thing is to be patient. Women have gone to 43 weeks with no adverse effects. Just think that nobody has ever been pregnant forever ;) and your baby will choose his/her own birth date (have been listening to my affirmations track although not every day!).

I got my results of the GBS test and sadly they came out positive. I'm a little disappointed because it means I have to get to the hospital quicker so that they can administer antibiotics. I was planning to labour as long as possible at home this time around.

On a positive note, my doctor is just so upbeat and happy! Did a dreaded internal today and my cervix is soft with no dialation (thanks to EPO as my cervix was high and hard at 40 wks on my first). She says that it does look like I will go term and beyond probably. She hasn't given any me any date restrictions and I should just come in when I am in labour. No talk of any interventions or pushing me into RCS to suit her schedule. She says there is no reason for me not to get my VBAC. I handed in my birth preferences and she was ok with all 4 pages. The only thing she marked off was that they do not have hot compresses at the hospital. I just feel so positive about the entire birth now.

Where are the rest of the ladies? Haven't seen anybody else for a while. Its almost 4am here... insomnia is hitting me these days.

Anni, I can't understand why the yahoo group would be blocked, it's not controversial at all. I think that by week 4 you're almost done, week 5 is the fear clearing and week 6 is just maintenance. I think the fear clearing is probably worth it - I've only listened to it once or twice but if you have any anxiety about the birthing, it would be useful.

In any case, I think that if you practice the finger-drop technique during your practice pressure waves you will probably be a pro by the time you go into your birthing time :) I haven't really had any (or not many that I am aware of) even though I drink tons of red raspberry leaf tea.

I spoke to my midwife again and we amended my due date back to yesterday so I'm once again technically 40 weeks, lol. Anni - at this rate I'm probably going to be having this baby at the same time as you!

Hello All,

Its gone really quiet in here these days.

Congrats Ronel. Would love to see your birth story.

Firefly you must be super excited now. The waiting game is the hardest part of the entire pregnancy. I must admit that I stopped with the hypnobabies course about 2 weeks ago when I got the flu and haven't gotten back into it fully. Theres just no time with a busy toddler and trying to get things done at home. I don't even know if I will have enough time to complete as I am only on lesson 4. Can you believe that the yahoo support group is blocked in this country?

I'm 38 weeks now. I realised that I started the nesting thing this week. Still getting loads of pressure waves. I'm sure its the RRLT thats toning up my uterus. Been rolling in and out of the bed and off the couch.

Went out to do major shopping yesterday so that when my sister arrives next week she just has to buy the fresh foodstuff weekly. Food goes off really quickly here. You can't even leave bread out overnight and it starts developing mould.

Good luck to those that are left. I'm sure at the rate I'm going bubs will arrive in July. ;)

Congrats Ronel! :)

Anni - make sure to listen to your hypnobabies joyful pregnancy affirmations everyday, I'm feeling really good and I think that a lot of it has to do with all the positive affirmations, I just keep repeating them whenever I start feeling tired or sore.

Today is technically 40 weeks for me! We did a bit of sightseeing with my parents and I started feeling a bit uncomfortable with a lot of pressure in my hips on the drive back. I'm sure I had some pressure waves (the hypnobabies term for contractions) too although I couldn't really concentrate and differentiate between them and the constant pressure in my hips - but as soon as we got home and I got out of the car it all stopped :) I've repacked my hospital bag though and got all the treats for the nurses ready and am going to try to get an early night tonight.

Hello All,

Hope everyone is doing well.

AdeleF... hope you feeling better now. Pregnancy really does take a toll on ones body. Seems like the last stretch is so difficult.

LeboS... I've been having the exact same symptoms. For 2 days I've been getting diarrhea, nausea (again!) and some dull period like pains together with a pain in my right knee. I always had these kind of symptoms before my period in the past.

Nosh... hope you doing well. Enjoy having your mom around. How are you managing with hubby so far away?

Firefly... enjoy the prenatal massage. I've been having them for the past 3 weeks and its really helped with my symphysis pubis pain.

From my side... just feeling so tired and heavy. Weather here is really bad so you can't walk outside anymore. Humidity has gone up to 70% with highs in the mid 40's already. Can't even carry my DD anymore. She has been kissing and rubbing my tummy all the time talking to the baby. I hope it stays that way when her little sis arrives!

Haven't packed my hospital bag as yet. Next appointment is on 16 June as my OB is not around next week.

Seems like I have just lost all my steam over the past 2 weeks and I feel like sleeping all day long. Rolling out of bed and off the couch and its just such a task! Can't wait to hold bubs in my arms now.
