babyzee, thanks for the encouragement. I know I shouldn't stress too much but I am pregnant & the hormones are all over the place & very emotional..........you know how it goes ;) but I'm just taking deep breaths

klk, nice to hear from you again. Enjoy your scan on friday!!!

Magz, don't worry too much about it. Just do that perineal massage as it will help.

mosaneo, we are moving to Malanshof, Randburg. Hubby & I are taking a day's leave next week to go & look at nursery schools & primary schools for Gr. R as well.
Good luck with your venture as well & I hope you come right.

Ms_S, we live in the Roodepoort area but moving to Malanshof, Randburg & we work in different areas but it will definitely be way out of our way to keep her in her current creche

palesa, hehehe, give that massage a try man :P

Hi everyone

1stly, welcome & congratulations on your pregnancy Clueless. I'm sure you'll find some answers on our little thread.
I've read about a bicornuate uterus & it just shows you how wonderful God is cause you did fell pregnant at the end of the day, even though it wasn't planned :) I know there are different degrees of a bicornuate uterus that will determine if you can give normal birth or not. What did your gynae say so far?
Not everyone is lucky to give normal birth but it doesn't mean they should feel like failures. I think there are different views on why they say women who give birth via c-section don't bond as quickly with their babies. It can be on how traumatic birth was, not being able to breastfeed your baby & be able to hold baby immediately etc but I had a c-section & the love for my lg was immediately there & I just couldn't get enough of her. Try to relax & like babyzee said, bonding starts before the baby is even born & if you are stressed when baby is here, he/she will pick it up & so the rollercoaster of emotions start. You will see alot of women on this thread, including myself are a bit worried of tearing down there or that they will have to cut but we are designed to give normal birth, if they have to cut or if you tear normally, it is going to be a bit of a discomfort cause you have to sit on it etc & it is painful but so is a c-section but you will have meds to ease the pain but most women handle the pain very well cause you are so focused on that little bundle of joy.

Welcome Clueless, wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy. The bonding thing is utter rubbish, i have had two csecs and bonded immediately with my baba's, i know of moms who had natural births and had bonding issues, i guess it all depends on the person. Personally i believe bonding starts ways before, i am already bonding with this baby and love the scans.

I believe the baby feels you so if you are uptight and stressed they pick that up so once you give birth just relax make them feel warm and welcome :)

Afternoon Ladies!

I'm new here am 26.5 weeks pregnant (yes at this stage I'm still counting half weeks  ) and expected due date 5 Nov. Although it will probably be a csec due to me having a bicornuate uterus, which will mean around 22 Oct (or somewhere in that week). Not completely decided yet, still early days.

This is my 1st baby and I'm rather clueless, being the last child born in my family (35 years ago) and no close friends with babies. So its great to be on this group :)

I've been attending ante-natal classes, and they are pushing the natural birth thing very hard, to the point that I'm sure the 3 ladies in class who need csec's due to valid medical reasons all feel like failures. (Anyone else have same experience?) I've been reading up on epiostomies and other "side effects" of natural birth, and it is quite scary. Seems like it could well be worse than a csec, if things go badly.

A bit off topic...At this stage my worst fear is not bonding with my baby. She's a bit of a surprise after we thought we couldnt have kids, and have adjusted our lifestyle accordingly. I've heard (and it was said in the ante-natal class) that bonding may be an issue with a csec. Any of the more experienced moms, what are your views?

Congrats Palesa, this is great news. Good luck.

Momtoc take it easy and tackle everything one at a time, remember stressing is not good for baba.Good luck with the move. I also moved two months ago man its exhausting.

Magz like Klk2678 said its all sore a cut or a csec. Just take it easy, do your breathing and hope for the best. Some people do not get a cut at all.

Morning ladies, been a while since I have posted here but do read your posts all the time.

As for the episiotomy, well either way if you do get cut or tear you will be in pain, if you have a caesar, you will be in pain. If you are that worried then do the perennial massage it really does help. You do get the gel pads that you can put in your panties that help with the pain too. Same pads help with piles as well. Ya, child birth is definitely not for sissies.

AFM, 20 weeks and all is well so far. Have my 20 week scan on Friday. Going to a specialist so its going to be quite involved im sure.

Oh and I have a Mexican Bola too.

Thanks Mosaneo i live in Weltevreden it`s like 2 minutes from my house. yho Mosa Krugersdorp where do you work?

you gus the whole stitching issue is making me weak hey. i dont do pain that well hence the epidural. after careful consideration i was thinking of no epidural but after this conversation it`s vital at least if i tear or i get cut i wont feel the stitches.

Magz i didnt get a stitch with my son they say lots of hanky panky before the birth really helps. lol
