Morning everyone

Palesa, as far as I know, you can fly until you 36 weeks pregnant, although this differs from airline to airline. My friend flew recently from Cairo to Cape Town at 34 weeks, she said it was fine. I think as you get closer to 36 weeks, you need a letter from your doctor or midwife, indicating that you are safe to travel (this letter shouldn't be more than a week old). Different airlines have different policies, so its just a matter of looking it up, although I don't think it should be a problem.

Taking of medications is something else though. It depends where you going really? And researching the medication you may have to take. I know there aren't any malaria tablets that's safe for pregnant women..but then you can take precautions against malaria (mosquito repellent, mosquito nets, wearing long sleeves etc). I'm not sure about yellow fever vaccinations though. Not all African countries require vaccinations etc.

Your new job sounds very exciting..I hope you aren't pressured into giving it up!

mosaneo i initially wanted wilgeheuwel but decided agains it both hospitals are the same distance away from my house so i chose flora clinic.

ladies please help me i have a predicament i got the job but it entails me going to other African countries. how safe is flying and the medication taken for other african countries is it safe for preganant women?

the new manager is worried about the travelling while pregnant. HR wants me to reconsider but the papers are signed

I have not chosen a second hospital but Wilgeheuwel hospital is near me and covered by my medical aid.

Pale it is not Krugesdorp dee, just where it starts, there is a new development there, after christian de wit road, i pass flora hospital when going home and i work in Midrand. Hope to find a job that side while on maternity leave!

Hey Klk it has been long, good luck with your scan, hope all is fine with the baba.

Momtoc you are right, if its not a cut down there its a csec cut, there are pain killers and the pain is bearable especially with baba there, you just be consumed by happiness. Do not stress bout those things ladies, you might not even get cut.

Lol momtoc...I'm also a serial stressser. Every week is something new to stress about. This week it was the cut/tear stress (as u know, lol!).
Good luck with the move. We are also looking at moving, but at the rate things are going with the bank, and not finding the right house, we may just postpone til after baba is born.

Clueless, join the club. I'm also a terrible stresser but I think I get it from my mother or something but I do sometimes get it right to calm myself, to just breathe, relax & trust that things will always work out in the end (HUGS)

Sjoe, your story is so interesting & jip, if you've never had an ultrasound before, how the heck would you know you've got a bicornuate uterus but so far it sounds like you've got a very healthy pregnancy going on there & if their were any other problems, your gynae would've picked it up by now. Let's keep our fingers crossed that you will be able to give normal birth.

Thanks momtoc and babyzee, you guys almost had me tearing up I do try not to be too stressed (I'm a terrible stresser!).

Yes we are very very blessed to have had this happen naturally. Momtoc, I actually wasnt diagnosed until my 1st ultrasound, we decided early in marriage not to go for fertility treatments due to my BIL and SIL having gone through emotional hell and back with it, long story... Anyway the bicornuate uterus was only picked up at my 12 week scan and by then it is obviously impossible to do more invasive tests. The gynie said that we will just have to wait and see, but it is rare to affect the development of the foetus and may just mean that the baby is unable to turn, and hence a csec.

I have also read very scary stuff on www about the condition (club feet, 2nd trimester miscarriage etc etc) but ny gynie never mentioned these, (he is quite practical and pragmatic) and fortunate for me my pregnancy so far has been very easy, at least compared to what I expected.
