Morning Ladies,

Zayden graced us with his presence Friday 26 February, 9:42, weighing in at 3,8kg, with a height of 54cm.

Cant believe he is almost 2weeks old. It's been a rollercoaster ride. He had jaundice and we had to keep him on a bilibed to lower his bilirubin levels for 2 days but he is doing great now. Breastfeeding has proven to be challenging in the way that my husband can't really do a feeding - its all on me and thats been the most difficult part. I must say he is a pro at Latching - which I'm grateful for.

The birth was not easy, I'm must say nothing anybody tells you can prepare you for the pain of a natural birth. I wanted to have a water birth, but I couldn't get a nice grip in the birth pool. So ended up with a natural birth on the bed. I must say that ring of fire is a very real thing - it hurts as hell. I can proudly say I didn't tear or need an episiotomy - which was my greatest fear from the beginning. In total had 2 S&S one to 3cm and the other to 5cm, total labour lasted about 19hours with 2hours of pushing.

So I am totally in love with my little one, I an literally just sit and stare at her for hours!!!

My recovery has been tough... The pain has been quite something especially as I am having tummy trouble, ito being very gassy and a bit constipated ( sorry for over sharing....) but hubby has been a total super star, he has been doing all the bathing etc etc and I have been on shared nappy duty as well as booby duty...

The breastfeeding is going really well - I have a little over production, to the point where the a hot shower means a milk shower as well. I actually got so engorged yesterday that my breast was so swollen that baby couldnt even latch - so I expressed for one minute just to relieve the pressure and I managed to express 25ml!

How is everyone else doing?

We're clearly all being kept very busy with our babies I was so sure I'd posted to say congrats the day after she was born, but apparently not.

How are the ladies who had their cesars on Monday? Hope it all went well, and looking forward to meeting your little bundles!

Saw a lactation consultant yesterday and it's made the world of difference. I was really struggling with pain when feeding and ended up just expressing for a whole day on Monday. She showed me a different position an how to get bubs to latch properly and there's just a bit of initial pain now with my letdown.
She also suggested I try Espiride to help take the edge off and to increase my milk supply as the bad latch, lack of sleep and a really rundown immune system has affected my supply quite a bit. Will try it for a month just to get through this rough patch and then see how it goes. Personally wouldn't want to be on it long term.

Good luck to all the moms in the final stretch of pregnancy, before you know it you will have a little one stealing your heart

So baby Karmi was born on Wednesday night at 19:26pm, she was 50cm in length and weighed 3.54kg - it sounds so bit but its still really small

The c section is really no fun at all, I am a bit sad that the natural birth didnt work for me, as its quite difficult to manage being a new mom with being so sore, but my munchin is healthy and that is really all that matters

She is now breastfeeding like a little pro and I am also slowly getting there, her blood sugar dropped last night and the hospital wanted to give a top up feed at 8pm, but I asked them to give me until 12 to get it up with breastmilk and it worked! Was soo relieved, as as a new mom every little thing that happens is a bit scary....

And speaking about scary - good luck with those first nappies!!!! Hahahaha, they are quite.... Ummmm, how should I put it.... Quite something else, whahahahahaha.

So anyway daddy will be taking his two girls home today and I personally can not wait!

Daddy is so smitten with baby, it actually takes my breath away, he has really been the strength that I needed to handle this whole pregnancy and birth thing....
