@ licious, lets hope 2nd pregnancies are waaay easier than the first and it will be similar to your sister's experience.
I am quite looking forward to spending the time with both girls. I feel i am missing out on such an exciting time with my bigger daughter -she is quite a character!

@ fairychild, its petrifying, as earning my salary has always made me feel "empowered"! Not that I will be expected to ask for permission or anything (as I will prob still control the finances), i guess i will just feel a bit more reliant. I am a bit worried about getting lonely and isolated.
Everyone at the office has been extremely encouraging and supportive. I really feel bad though, as I know they wont replace me, and the workload will just be spread out, and everyone is already overworked! :S

Hi ladies,

I normally chat in the June group as my EDD is first week of June but always read a bit here as if baby decides he will be ready to come a week earlier it will be a May baby.

Maj - It is such a big decision to stop working. I am also planning on resigning end of April with May as my resignation month. Exciting and nerve wrecking at the same time

Me: 35
DH: 38

Hi Maj

every night when i sleep i think about the last day, i must say you are right my younger sister went into labour for only 40 minutes on her second child. I told her stright that you are the chosen one...she made it all seem like a walk in the park.
soooo i am crossing fingers that on the day things move quickly. I will definately let my body do what it suppose to do.
I read somewhere where a midwife said you have to embrace each contraction as it is sign that you are getting closer to hold your baby in you arms. :)
What a brave decision you took on resigning, the positive side is that you will spend all the time with your baba.

Hi Ladies,

I went to book the med at the netcare hospital yesterday. Thought I would be given a tour, but not so :( I am happy with all their afterbirth policies (skin to skin, delaying measurements and bathing, etc, having the baby in the room, etc), but I did not really get into the labour stuff. While I was finishing paperwork, the sister had another appointment. I need to discuss this more in detail with my gynea as well.
I am just so confused at the moment. But I think i need to book a tour of the maternity hospital once they are up and running and see what they offer, etc.

@licious, you can do this without all the pain. What you went through the first time does not mean you have to go through it again! Dont believe that you have to experience so much pain, let your body do what its meant to do!

@Sonsbaby, nice pics. When do you meet your new gynea?

@Blou, glad you managed to sort something out. Just dont take on too much work though. Those first weeks can be overwhelming, and quite an adjustment. It is odd though that they would delay the increase. During my last Mleave, I got and increase just as everyone else.

I have decided to resign from my job as at the end of April. It has been such a difficult decision to make! So unfortunately no maternity leave pay  , i will just be relying on UIF for 4 months, and then a considerable tightening of our belts!

@Jay-Bee, Where is Louis Leipoldt?

Good Morning Ladies

@Blou your situation got me thinking and somehow i felt we are been discriminated against because we as women become pregnant. it is an unfair system but i guess we have to suck it up. I always console myself to say atleast we are getting something unlike some people who get nothing for their MLeaves...its like we are being punished to bringing beautiful lives in this world...it sadness me.
in all fairness i am glad your boss is willing to help you on getting the increase, you are lucky to have him. Good Luck.

@Jay-Bee01 all the best with your tour....
