@ninies, i guess that makes sense about the 2 week checkup. I just keep worrying that somethings not gonna be ok!
If it wasnt for my daughter, i think I would have had only bought 1 babygrow for the baby!! She wants to buy something for her everytime we go to a store. She also started taking out baby toys from her toy boxes and said that those are now for her sister.

Aaw sweet man, hope he sees that everything will be ok. I dont think I will get the opportunity to take my daughter along to a dr's app, but I think I should take her on a little tour of the hospital so that she knows what to expect.

How was everyone's weekend? Hope you managed to get in some rest....

@Maj - I know exactly what you mean about your reputation. It is just so sad that there will always be someone that will pass the blame to you even though it is not your fault.

I think the 2 weekly check ups is necessary as there is just so many things that can change in such a small time. For instance blood pressure and infections and then by the time you get to the gynae again, it could be too late. But yes, it does become alot of effort to go every 2 weeks...

 you see now there is another difference between boys and girls. If I can get round to packing baby's clothes in his chest of drawer, I know my son wont be bothered with them. But little girls will want to keep looking at them and touch them etc....such a striking difference but so cute... :cheer:

My son is getting more and more excited every day. Our next doctors appointment will be late afternoon so that we can do the hospital tour with him so that he can see where mommy will be and that everything will be fine. From conversations with him, I picked up that the whole hospital thing was a fright to him. And one can understand as he just hears about a hospital and their minds are still so small they are not grasping the concepts. So I think if he sees that it is just like a bedroom he will feel better. He is scared I am not going to come home....

I am also still ok with sleeping - except that I have to go to the loo very often.

@ licious, I am not returning to work after the baby is born, but my reputation still matters. I hate it when people leave, and everyone else bitches and blames them for everything that goes wrong. I can understand that its easiest to blame the person who isnt there to defend themselves. The thing is I have put so much time and effort into these project, I really want them to end successfully (and profitably even if I wont benefit).

@licious, heartburn has also increased for me. I have been sucking on the gaviscon chews(initially i hated them)! I also found if I eat too much bread, it tends to be worse. Or if I am starving!

@monei double boobs-haha! I also have not bought nursing bras. I still have some underwire bras though, just had to get bigger sizes. i did buy maternity bra's (the stretchy type) but they ddnt have enough support and i felt my boobs were sagging to my knees! So now i use them at night cos they loose enough.
Try Triumph when you are buying the nursing bras, dont know what sizes they go up to, but i liked their nursing bras the last time around.

I still seem to be ok wth sleeping at night, except when hubby steals the covers-grrrr

Does anybody else feel check-ups every 2 weeks from 30 weeks is just too much? I really dont think its necessary!
@ninies glad everything is going well. hope the swelling isnt too bad or linked to any medical issues.
the last time around i changed gyneas in the last couple of weeks, and the "new" gynea told me i must massage and pull the nipples out as they look as if they may be inverted  . First gynea never checked my boobs-ever!

I actually want to buy a chest of draws and "restore" it to keep the baby's clothes in. But I have an empty plastic set, which I should probably use. It just looks so bleh! im afraid if I pack the clothes it in there now though, my daughter will rummage through it all the time. Currently everything is stored in the spare bedroom out of her reach!

@ninies, hows your sons excitement?

Hallo ladies,

Oooohhhh time is running out for us....Hope everyone is well and looking forward to the weekend.

We had our 32 weeks check up yesterday. All went well! The baby is very active. Bloodflow is perfect, placenta is starting to age (as it should do at this stage) and there is enough water.
My feet are very swolen....usually a sign of high blood pressure, but mine is perfect.
The doctor send me for a midstream urine test and a blood test as he wants to test that my protein levels are not too low. The swelling could apparantly also be due to low protein in your body. But I think it is the heat and water retention. I eat alot of protein foods during the day.

I also asked the doctor if I can start taking something now to influence my milk production. He looked at my breasts and said I have perfect breasts and nipples for breast feeding. He said he will give me something after baby is born to just help it along, and that for now I should just continue to rub them with tissue oil.
Our 34 weeks long scan will be on 08 March - then we will book the c-section and be certain of the date.
I better get my bags packed. I still have to paint one piece of furniture where I will be keeping the baby's clothes. Only after that has been done can I start washing the clothes and pack our bags. It keeps me up at night....

I received my Spectra breast pump yesterday. Fully equipped for double pumping.

Aaah. it's fascinating how we can be different people in different places but be going through such similar stuff. lol

@licious, being bored while waiting for baby is my biggest concern of starting my maternity leave. if work has it their way, that will be 4 weeks before he comes. which is making me consider unpaid leave to spend more time with baby. but i hear how bad Dept of Labour as sorting out UIF and i have debit orders. sigh. Quite frankly, we can't afford a month unpaid.

@maj, my medical aid sent me a book along with the baby bag in 2nd trimester and it has all these tips including the perenial massage to avoid being cut or tearing. It just looked and read like something i should get my hubby involved in. Scared of watching a vid. We do alot of pelvic floor exercising at PreggiBellies- so i hope that helps coz i keep forgetting to do kegels.

I will sort out my bag at 37 weeks. thanks for all the tips and i've noted the nighty. disposable panty stuff. lol

I have abandoned my usual underwire bras but didn't get nursing ones yet coz i think my boobs may still grow. So i got some stretchy ones from woolies and have resorted to my sports bras during the day too. basically, no underwire coz it was starting to mark my underboob along with the cup overflow(double boob was becoming a thing). I already know i will have to find another place coz Woolies ends at DD cups for nursing and i was a DD cup before baby.

Sleeping is also tricky. some nights i win, some nights i don't. What i know is i miss lying on my tummy. My right rib is also getting tired during the day and leaning back seems to help.

Good Morning Ladies

@Maj I totally understand your stand its rather good to leave things in the correct manner so that even when you come back you don't find things all over. your reputation its important also. sometimes people think that when one goes on ML they are going forever. I say talk to him and make him understand your position. I just checked the Perennial massage video  no comment!!!

has any of you ladies suffering from heartburn. I am taking Mayo gel and I hate the taste. is there anything else I can take.

Ladies, if you want to look into weird, google perineal massage!!

@Sonsbaby, hope things get sorted with whoever is taking over from you.

I went to chat with my manager regarding the wokload I am leaving behind, and he told me "Dont be concerned about it!". He thought I was bringing it up as I was worried about the person, but thats not my concern. My concern is the project and my reputation. Once I leave I dont want to be bothered by this stuff (as I will then want to come back). I dont want anyone to blame me for things going wrong or for not handing things over correctly!

@licious, I am also afraid of getting bored, but on the other hand, I feel I am going to struggle a bit being here in the last couple of weeks!
