Julz I'm nervous to phone the ENT because when I did it last week she said no problem bring her in but then charged me R440 just to tell me her ears are fine and it must be her teeth but then she literally only checks her ears, didn't check anything else so say its maybe her chest then the ENT won't pick it up...I'm literally pulling my hair out cos our medical aid is finished so anything I do we have to pay for...I'm going to try and get hold of the nurse at Dischem and see if maybe she can do a quick check on her ears cos she probably won't charge the earth to do so and then maybe go from there...

Helen I am so sorry about Nina being sick again. I suggest you call your ENT and just ask what you should do and take it from there. You must be so frustrated.

Nina's been really unsettled all weekend and I've put it down to the teething, she hasn't been able to sleep for much longer than an hour at a time and she woke up crying last night at 4 am which is pretty unusual, sometimes she wakes around that time hungry but never fussing and crying like she did last night but she calmed down as soon as I put teething powder on her gums and gave her a bottle. Now my Mum has just phoned and said she thinks I need to take her to the doc and now I really don't know what to do!!! Do I take her back to the ENT, do I take her to the paed and if its her ears be sent on to the ENT or do I take her to the GP and again if its her ears be referred on to the ENT but both GP and paed do a way more thorough check on her than the ENT (it could be her chest as she was coughing a lot on Saturday night but then nothing last night...she's puking a bit though) so flip I don't know what to do. Theo is saying I must just leave it and it must be her teeth and we can't afford to spend R500 to be told its just her teeth but then what if something is wrong? Oh man I don't know what to do for the best

I have not been here for a while sorry for being MIA

Lisha - we flew with W to Phuket when he was 22 months, we booked him a seat and payed child fare for him, the best thing we could ever do. the flight departed at around 13h00, and we could net get William to sleep, although it was around 7pm in phuket (we wanted to change his internal clock, but that did not want to work) so he only slept for about 4 hours, the rest of the time he walked up and down the rows and watch some tv. he did not eat the airplane food, so I am glad I took with some food, I also took a blanket and cushion for him.

On the way back, the flight departed 01:00 phuket time, about 8pm SA time, and we kept him awake until the flight departed, he run up and down the airport and we kept him busy, the plane was not even taken off yet and he was fast asleep and we woke him when we landed in SA, so he had a good 12 hr sleep on the plane. So it is best to take things to keep you LO busy.

Julz, I have not noticed W hands shaking, maybe it is best to get it checked out.

Nicole, W bath time is at 6, then we have dinner at 18:30, he can then watch som tv and wind down, we go to his bedroom at about 19:30, we sing and read book and we both put him to sleep. I have noticed the last few weeks that he battles to settle down and it takes up to an hour if he had a nap in the afternoon, if he does not have a nap then he is out at 7 pm already.

I sounds like every one had a nice mothers day. We did not do much, got a card that W made at school and a chocolate, and I said to DH that I do not want anything, we are not big spenders on valentines or Mothers day or Fathers day or any other day. It was our 7 year anniversary aswell, but we spend the day with family.

I had my big 21 week scan today and all looks great - she is still a LG, she had not changed gender.
She weights about 440 gram
Heartbeat at 154 bpm
DH felt her kick for the first time last night, and I am also feeling her more regulary.

I usually bath him at 19:30, dress him, he gets some milk and we chat a little and then he settles.

Julz the thing is we only have showers in the new place (before we moved from the place that had a bath and shower, he loved the shower more) now thats changed, going to pile toys in the shower tonight and will see if that works.

Lol Helen looking forward to more good, useful tips like you've been giving me. Can mail me on lisha_naidu@yahoo.com if you'd like. Also very afraid of my child being 'that crying baby' on the flight. Hopefully the options of movies, toys etc will make it easier.
So points noted: extra food and extra blankets.

Nicole Shrey baths a lot earlier than his sleep time. We're not too strict with his bedtime but go along with what he 'wants'. He usually says 'time to sleep' around 8pm so I just lay with him till he's asleep. If I don't he will do all sorts of nonsense so I may as well just lay with him for the 15 - 30 mins.

Nicole - We do much the same as Julz, 6.30pm bath, then we all sit in the lounge, read a story and he drinks a cup of milk then in bed by 7pm. We're going through a horrible transition period where he doesn't need a sleep every day so somedays where he hasn't had a sleep he is dog tired and fusses quite a lot during bathtime especially with hairwashing and heaven forbid if he doesn't apporve of the temperature of the water, he usually calms down once out of the bath though. Then he's usually KO 5-10minutes after being in bed lol, the nights where he has a sleep, bathtime usually runs smoother but then we put him to bed and he messes around for anything up to an hour, taking his PJs off, emptying a WHOLE bottle of talcum powder all over himself (ok so he only did that once but its the kind of mischief he gets up to when he's not super tired), getting up and running back to his room etc etc. Hence he doesn't need a sleep every day but it does make the bedtime routine hard work some days...
