Cols, sudocream I bought from Dischem - its a grey tub with red writing. Its about R54 a large tub or R30ish a smaller one. But I have heard good things about Bepanthen too so if its working then I wouldn't change. I had a tub of sudocrem left over from being pregnant (I was really itchy and had a rash) so thats why I started using it a while ago when John had a nappy rash.

I'm also curious - what do you other moms use when the babes are teething? I put teegel and pansarol in his mouth, rub it over his gums (he hates it) and I rub Ashtons & Parson teething powders over his gums. But often he still cries afterwards so I don't know if there's maybe something more effective I should be using?

Oh girly i so wish you were in JHB! My boss is looking to hire a half day assistant, a full day paroll person and a full day accounts person...

BabyKsmom, I am sure it will be perfect. I’m Anglican and we want to do the Christening at St Michaels in Boksburg because it’s been my family’s church for about 80years. I really want to get it done before he’s one but now we have to wait. What also makes it difficult is we’re in the North so need to go to the classes at the church here and have to fit in with this priests schedule. Not sure why it has to be 4 weekends though. Also, have to plan around SIL she is Evan’s Godmother and she is due 9 June… And it’s MIL’s 60th in April so we have 2 weekends booked up with her celebrations.

Girly, I am holding both thumbs for you!!! I really hope you get it.

Charn – It is very difficult finding exactly what you want. It took us 2 years and we found exactly what we wanted and are loving working on it. The only stress was that we moved when Evan was only 6 weeks old because the seller delayed the sale by 5 months!

Evan used to LOVE tummy time from very early on. Now he moans when he’s been on his tummy for more than a few minutes! The only time he’s happy on his tummy is when he “swims” in his bath and is catching his bath toys. He loves to stand AND he has FINALLY started walking forwards in his walking ring and yesterday he was trying to open my pot draw  He looks like the teeth are coming soon. His gums are all white and swollen and you can actually see where they are now. I hope it’s not too rough. He has nappy rash and soft stools but is eating like a trooper and has slept through the last 2 nights 

Those giggles are truly the most amazing blessing and yes, when those little arms go up for you to pick them up! Just melts my heart.
Have so much work to do and no motivation…

Just a question, what do mom’s do / give to teething babies? His gums are very sensitive and he pulls away if you try to touch them but he’s not struggling to eat. Also, I am using Bepanthan on his nappy rash, is there anything else I should use? BabyK’s – what is sudocrem & where do you get it?

On breastmilk drying up – I hear fenugreek tablets or tea seriously helps improve the quantity of your milk again. Apparently it’s also very good to help diabetics maintain their blood sugar levels.

Babyk's mom that happened to me too except people were signing in with my name. You'll have to email Deja and tell her. They couldnt fix it and she will have to change Lizzy's user name and create a new account for her.

Dont worry on the development side. Kaylee is no where near crawling, doesnt even leopard crawl yet and definitely not strong enough to pull herself up. She still doesnt enjoy being on her tummy and she loves to sit.
We will probably be a bit behind because of her ops and time in ICU (2 weeks in total).
Crawling is meant to happen between 7-9 months so there's still time.

Glad to hear his appetite is returning! Has he got teeth yet? These sound like teething symptoms to me?
The yoghurt you can give 2hrs after cereal instead of with it, just depending on how hungry. K always seems so hungry in the mornings even though she drinks at least twice in the night. And breakfast is her favourite meal!

Re stopping breastfeeding, I've considered it a few times and think if I was working I'd really consider it. But she loves it so much and its special time for us, and its not difficult anymore so I'll carry on as long as I can. Plus its free! I must say that some times I wish I had my body back, eat & drink what I want to, but I am glad that I have been able to do it for so long.

The weather in Cape Town is totally different to a week ago. Saturday was 39 degrees. Today is 23 and overcast. I'm loving it though!

K is sleeping a lot today, wander if its the weather. She woke at 6:30 with dad's alarm, napped at 8am, and again at 10am, woke up so I fed her, she took a few sips and fell asleep again.

I've been doing more job hunting online but there's very little to even apply for at the moment. Its frustrating. DH is stressing about it a lot, hates that we're living out of our bond which is basically our savings / retirement as we dont have a retirement plan. I know he's stressing and it frustrates me that I'm causing it but there's very little I can do. I also know they could be paying him more, but he's only been there 7 months so dont want to push it. Hopefully they'll review his structure & responsibilities soon, as he has taken on a lot of extra responsibilities. And his boss earns x3 more than he does.
I am really hoping that Nampak will call me back! It would be a difficult job, with lots of pressure but would be great experience for me.

Anyway wander how much longer K will sleep for... I want coffee hmmm

Hi girls

I'm so busy with work I never have time to post But next week should be a little easier. I wish I could say I was earning millions with all this work but its more about the volume than the money. Oh well. I'm very grateful to have this work because things have been so tight for us.

So just a quickie and next week I promise to upload more photos when I have more time to go through them all.

Babyzee, my scar was hurting about 2 months ago and I was bleeding/ spotting alot (I was on microval, the breastfeeding mini pill). I spoke to my gynae and he said I could go on nordette straight away, even though I was still breastfeeding at the time. So I did that and my scar has not hurt since, strange hey? I'm interested to hear what your doc says, I hope its nothing serious, thinking of you.

Pinkmommy yay on the toofie! The other one will come out soon too if it hasn't already. That's what happened to John. Now we wait for the top teeth, should be any time between the next week and the end of April (apparently 4 - 8 weeks after the bottom 2).

Robyn and Charn, your girls are real stunners, both have beautiful eyes! I would also put John in line to be their boyfriends if he wasn't already matched with 3 girls up here in Jozi He just LOVES other babies, he smiles at them and gently reaches out his hand to touch them, he is such a charmer

Girly - I love your menu, think I'm going to copy you a bit there but Kaylee eats more than John! lol. Well his appetite took a funny turn with him being sick and he started refusing his bottle unless I was giving it to him. I've taken him off all fruit since Sunday because his tummy bug was just not going away and I suddenly realised he had his worst attacks (of crying too - sore tummy) after fruit. Sunday was the worst and it was mango on its own so I think I'm also going to boycott mango for a while Pinkmommy!

But his appetite has come back now, I'm wondering whether to maybe give him some banana today, that's not very acidic. He has been MUCH better since yesterday, up until then he was pooing every nappy and straight after he ate or drank anything and I was giving him calpol or neurofen at least twice a day for his sore tummy. He was also pulling on his ears and scratching at his neck and chest, which made me think of allergies so I gave him some allergex. I don't know whether it was the allergex or just that he is better but he's not scratching anymore And his poor little bum has been so red and raw I've been putting sudocrem on and you know what really works girls - bathing him in rooibos tea and using it to wash his bum at nappy changes (just put a teabag or 2 in the bathwater). We used to do that when he was a newborn but stopped it somewhere along the line.

I must say. all the girls are SUPER advanced! John is nowhere near any of them in progress. He sits very nicely now No sign of crawling and I don't think there will be for a while. He can't pull himself into a sitting position or any of those things. But I still think its amazing what he can do when I play with him, I'm not worried, I know that boys take longer than girls and he is a very cautious boy. It gives me more time to knuckle down and work for now because I can put him in his do nut and he'll amuse himself for about 20 minutes until he gets bored. Well thats when he's not feeling sick and wants Mommy all the time

We finished the last bag of frozen breastmilk yesterday so as of today John is a fully formula fed baby! I'm a bit sad but not too much. Breastfeeding was very hard for me.

Oh ja - John's baptism is next week Sunday! We chatted to the priest and went for the lesson - Cols we only had to go for one lesson and it was about an hour! What church are you?
We have just invited everyone - family and friends so there about 50 people on the guestlist and probably about 40 will come. Its going to be totally mad but what I'm doing is having a table with some chairs for the older folk and then all the friends can bring picnic blankets and picnic on our lawn. We are doing some snacks and tea and coffee. All family is going to make food and I'm going to get a couple of platters and then paper plates and cups etc. I don't know if I'm being totally crazy thinking I can pull it off but I have this calm feeling that its going to go just fine. It might be the 5HTP I'm taking

I better get back to work. Hopefully chat soon ladies, if not before next week I hope you all have wonderful weekends Xxx
