Girly, the house hunting is going slow :(

We REALLY taking our time with this one as we want to buy something that we can stay in for a LONG time and not something that we will outgrow or not be happy with after a few years. So, not really in a hurry. We are even considering renting a 3 bdrm house for a while just to get out of the apartment. That way I know I won't make an emotional decision to buy the first house that seems okayish. We are ideally looking for a 4 bedroom house with a big backyard but we are still undecided about the area, Durbanville is first choice, but its a bit pricey. So we might rent for another year max.

Good choice, re the age gap. I'm really leaning towards only child at this point, but DH doesn't want to hear it. I keep telling him that he is more than welcome to find someone else who is willing to have another child with him :silly:

Hi girls

I'm so busy with work I never have time to post :( But next week should be a little easier. I wish I could say I was earning millions with all this work but its more about the volume than the money. Oh well. I'm very grateful to have this work because things have been so tight for us.

So just a quickie and next week I promise to upload more photos when I have more time to go through them all.

Babyzee, my scar was hurting about 2 months ago and I was bleeding/ spotting alot (I was on microval, the breastfeeding mini pill). I spoke to my gynae and he said I could go on nordette straight away, even though I was still breastfeeding at the time. So I did that and my scar has not hurt since, strange hey? I'm interested to hear what your doc says, I hope its nothing serious, thinking of you.

Pinkmommy yay on the toofie! The other one will come out soon too if it hasn't already. That's what happened to John. Now we wait for the top teeth, should be any time between the next week and the end of April (apparently 4 - 8 weeks after the bottom 2).

Robyn and Charn, your girls are real stunners, both have beautiful eyes! I would also put John in line to be their boyfriends if he wasn't already matched with 3 girls up here in Jozi :P He just LOVES other babies, he smiles at them and gently reaches out his hand to touch them, he is such a charmer ;)

Girly - I love your menu, think I'm going to copy you a but there but Kaylee eats more than John! lol. Well his appetite took a funny turn with him being sick and he started refusing his bottle unless I was giving it to him. I've taken him off all fruit since Sunday because his tummy bug was just not going away and I suddenly realised he had his worst attacks (of crying too - sore tummy) after fruit. Sunday was the worst and it was mango on its own so I think I'm also going to boycott mango for a while Pinkmommy!

But his appetite has come back now, I'm wondering whether to maybe give him some banana today, that's not very acidic. He has been MUCH better since yesterday, up until then he was pooing every nappy and straight after he ate or drank anything and I was giving him calpol or neurofen at least twice a day for his sore tummy. He was also pulling on his ears and scratching at his neck and chest, which made me think of allergies so I gave him some allergex. I don't know whether it was the allergex or just that he is better but he's not scratching anymore :) And his poor little bum has been so red and raw  I've been putting sudocrem on and you know what really works girls - bathing him in rooibos tea and using it to wash his bum at nappy changes (just put a teabag or 2 in the bathwater). We used to do that when he was a newborn but stopped it somewhere along the line.

I must say. all the girls are SUPER advanced! John is nowhere near any of them in progress. He sits very nicely now :) No sign of crawling and I don't think there will be for a while. He can't pull himself into a sitting position or any of those things. But I still think its amazing what he can do when I play with him, I'm not worried, I know that boys take longer than girls and he is a very cautious boy. It gives me more time to knuckle down and work for now because I can put him in his do nut and he'll amuse himself for about 20 minutes until he gets bored. Well thats when he's not feeling sick and wants Mommy all the time :P

We finished the last bag of frozen breastmilk yesterday so as of today John is a fully formula fed baby! I'm a bit sad but not too much. Breastfeeding was very hard for me.

Oh ja - John's baptism is next week Sunday! We chatted to the priest and went for the lesson - Cols we only had to go for one lesson and it was about an hour! What church are you?
We have just invited everyone - family and friends so there about 50 people on the guestlist and probably about 40 will come. Its going to be totally mad but what I'm doing is having a table with some chairs for the older folk and then all the friends can bring picnic blankets and picnic on our lawn. We are doing some snacks and tea and coffee. All family is going to make food and I'm going to get a couple of platters and then paper plates and cups etc. I don't know if I'm being totally crazy thinking I can pull it off but I have this calm feeling that its going to go just fine. It might be the 5HTP I'm taking B)

I better get back to work. Hopefully chat soon ladies, if not before next week I hope you all have wonderful weekends Xxx

Morning mommies

OMW those pics are just adorable!!!
Robyn your girl is very strong! I love the look of that toy she is playing with. Where did you get it?
Congrats on the crawling!

Charnenay Emily is a real charmer :) And that is toooo cute how they do that now! K cant sit up from a lying position as yet so not something I've experienced.
Re number 2, I think a year from now we'll probably go off the pill. So we'll have a 2,5 - 3yr age gap which allows good time for the major toddler development between 1 - 3 yrs. From 3 they are a lot more independent, granny & grandpa can help a lot more and they can appreciate the baby more, and be a little more independent.
I really wanted a closer gap for when they are older but just looking at all the factors, we need a bigger house, I need to be stable in my job, hubby hopefully get a promotion or two, and I need to get my body back and not be breastfeeding anymore for a bit before I go do it all again!
Hows the house search going?

Kerry those laughs make even the bad days worthwhile :)
K loves it when someone comes to visit. When they walk in the door she gets this excited look on her face like she's soooo happy to see them! Its too cute, and helps keep the grandparents happy when they visit.

Babyzee yay so glad you're back on line now!
Sorry to hear about the scar :( Is it maybe not the colder weather thats pulling at it? I have heard that can happen. Let us know what the doc says.

K's schedule is more or less like this:
6/7am milk
2 hrs later breakfast - cerelac & yoghurt mixed with fruit puree
2hrs later milk (not a full feed always)
2hrs later lunch - veggies / mixed with cottage cheese
2hrs later milk - full feed
2hrs later dinner - protein & veg & pasta about 1/2 or 3/4 a #2 purity jar
sometimes if she doesnt drink milk after breakfast I'll try give her some water or tea and a rice cake but its more for play, she doesnt ever finish the rice cake and has maybe 20mls of the liquid.

Sometime now its normal to drop the morning milk feed, and eventually the afternoon one too but milk is still more important than food at this stage but you might also find that the milk feeds he's drinking more than before and so doesnt need to drink as often. As long as they're getting about 700mls a day its fine.
My milk has also gotten less and it scares me a bit. I wander if I must express when she doesnt drink but laziness beats me every time lol.

Anyway K's awake now so must run!
Will try catch up properly later on.

First angel resting 25/06/2009 stayed with us a short 7 weeks but we still miss you.

Oh wow girls amazing photos!

:-) Kaelyn still isn't crawling! She can shuffle backwards and loves to grab mommy and daddy by the fingers and stand up.

Ah well all things in good time! :-)

Charnenay- Kaelyn has done that to us a good few times... she's been quiet for a half hor or so so you always assume shes asleep... then you walk in and are greeted with a huuuge chuckle... as if youre simply playing peek-a-boo

I love my little ones little laugh... so much so hubby and i know just where her tickle spots are... when hubby is on bath duty he always grabs a clean make-up brush, dusts it in baby powder and proceeds to "paint" her little tummy she of cours meets this with chuckles that i am sure the neighbours can hear! :-)

Pinkmommy - yay for the toofy :) so cute that she "showed" it to you as well.
Robyn, is Dakota crawling yet? She seems like a strong little girl. Emily has also started pulling herself up against things now, but she is not as strong yet, so she toppples over before she gets to standing position. The crawling is getting better, but still only when she REALLY feels like it - my lazy girl :)

Our LO's are growing up so quickly! I cannot believe that they are already reaching the 8 month mark. My baby is almost a toddler  scary thought.

Girly, what's your decision on number 2? I am DEFINITELY waiting. I want Emily to have us all to herself for a bit longer. She is getting so responsive and cute - I can't wait to get home from work in the afternoons, I get the HUGEST smile when she sees me and then she puts out her hands for me to take her - its sooooo special ;) Initially, she was completely unphased when I got home from work, now at least she is excited to see me.

Emily's been on a food strike for a few days again. But last night, I made butternut medallions in the pot with a tiny bit of cinnamon stick and I fed it to her with my hand while we were all also having dinner. She thought this was a great idea and finished 3 medallions!! I tried it with sweet potato again tonight and it was a hit as well, so hopefully she has her appetite back.

Robyn, I can't get over your pics, they look as if they belong in a magazine :)

Babyzee, let us know what the doc says about your scar.

Hows this - Last night, I put her in bed just before 8 and went to get her bottles ready, etc. After about 15 minutes of silence from her room, I assume she is fast asleep, so I tiptoed in to go and cover her because she does not like having the covers on her while she is falling asleep. Anyway, when I got to her room, this is what I found instead!!!
