KerryA - it does suck so much being back. I did such a comprehensive hand over and even made sure that as much as I could do before I went away. I even helped out during my mat. leave. Still I get back and the 2 tiny little things I asked be done while i was ooo didnt get done and there are a 100 issues that were just swept under the rug until I got back :(

I tried the non-nutritive sucking with Evan when he wakes between 2-3 am. It doesnt help, he ends up crying from hunger and goes crazy on his bottle... I heard people mention sleep regression but dont know what it is...

I'm thinking of trying Evan on another formula, he isnt loving his milk during the day anymore. He goes crazy on his water but refuses his milk. I have tried refusing him his water and solids until he takes his bottle. It just causes a very upset baby and mommy... Lets see if the formula will work...

Robyn - My little ones on a 4 - 8 - 12 routine... well she went to mil today as its my first day back, so we will see if it stays, but it works for us and i give her porridge at 10am as she stopped sleeping thru and was constantly hugry, was even crying in hunger while eating so couldnt help it. took her for her checkup and shes a little bit above the 50th percentile, but sticks to the chart line luke glue.

Janinek - Kaelyn does the same... so sweet, but very very frustrating when youre trying to put her to sleep and she wants to eat her foot... or roll... she's quiet about it so you think she must have gone down but when you go in to check... She also bites like a jackal... on anything she can get to her mouth, even my neck sometimes, but its the nicest cuddle. and to boot shes started lifting her arms to be picked up every time she sees me. i thought it was coincidence when i first saw, but then it happen again and again. i show her my hands she lifts her arms.

Girly - we were at 6.65kg last week, :-) Kaelyn is up to 90ml of milk with however much cereal to thicken, its a heck of alot, but i count that milk in with my daily milk intake, but since she breastfeeds i have no idea what shes really eating. Good luck with the weight watchers, i ate like a pig over december too and thought when i got the scale at home i was in for a shock, but i hadn't gained or lost anything, i guess Kaelyn evened the odds huh. Don't think i am up to registering this semester... have finished first and most of second year of a bcompt, but i just cant face studying at night, not yet.

I don't know about the sleep regression but Kaelyn did the same, is still doing it, went right back from 9 hours to 5 hours, i got gatvol after a month of it now i dummy her till 8 hours, since shes gaining enough weight like this i figure no harm. She will eventually learn there is no midnight feed. (i really really hope)

and lastly doesn't being back at work suck? the problem is i am the go-to person so in my absence everyones saved up odds and ends for me... grr i cant see my desk!!!!!!!

Hey Girly

I've tried giving him less solids but he still refuses his milk. He will down water like it's no one's business but is naf about his milk. I'm thinking of trying another formula as he may just be bored with the taste?

The nurse at the clinic told me to introduce some protein to his diet as well now. He is 8.1kg and she says he needs it... I guess at that size you need a bit extra... She also said I should drop the porridge at night and give him veggies. She told me to put a block of kiri cheese mashed into his veggies this week and then to start adding some chicken etc... Evan was taking 6 200ml bottles of milk a day and the nurses said it was upsetting his

He has butternut, sweet potatoe & carrots. I introduced them in that order. 1 week on each. Last week he had mashed potatoes at creche and apparently loved them. No extra stuff just plain boiled potatoes that the mushed up.

This morning he would not take his bottle even though I could clearly see he was hungry and he was moaning etc to show he was hungry. I took him to creche and asked them to try get him to take at least some of his milk before he had his porridge.

Last week I found he was so tired the 1st 2 days when he got home from school he'd take his bottle and pass out at 5:30pm and then wake up hungry for food at 1-2am because he had no porridge. I think this whole school thing is freaking out our routine. He was finally sleeping and now we're back to bottles at 2 - 3am.

I'm doing Economics, Accounts and End user computing this semester... I hope it's not going to be too hectic. What are you looking at focusing on?

Blessed to be Mommy - congrats on the new hobby! It's nice that our little ones can be so calm and content :)

Hi ladies..

Glad to see all is doing well!!
All the mommies back at work, thinking of you!!

Armand's second tooth also out last week!! It looks so cute!! Also was not niggly at all!! We are so blessed!!

I also started Armand on solids as from last week. Cereal in the morning, Veggies afternoon and fruit at night. He also started to drink 4hourly now instead of 3hrly. Second night that he wakes up at 23:00 and then again at 04:00 / 05:00. He used to go to sleep at 19:00 / 20:00 and then only wakes up at 01:00 / 02:00 and then again at 06:00. Don't know why, but i do hope he goes back to his old routine soon!!

I moved him to his own room last week Wednesday.. Not as bad as i thought it is going to be.. our room looks so much bigger now!!!

Took him for a catch up injection on Friday. Shame, it was not lekker for him or for me!! He weighs 6.77kg's and is 67cm! Above average! So glad, because he is not really a good eater.

Congratz on the toothies little Liam and holding your own bottle!!!! BIG BOY!!!

Girly - God will give you the PERFECT job!! Just get quiet and ask HIM what you should do and WHEN you should do it!!! His time is perfect!!! Thinking of you my friend!!
I think it is because she falls asleep before taking in a feed. try to keep her awake a little longer. do you give her breast milk before she sleeps of formula?

All the others, sorry for not doing so much personals...

Off to golf now!! started to play this holiday! it is so much fun! Armand goes with us. we bought a golf cart and we put him in his car seat and his loves it!! he does not moan or cry at all!! he looks at all the trees and birds and also talking to himself!! so cute!!

O ja, my ovaries is very sore for the last week or so. i'm on CD 26. last month my cycle was 25 days. Any of you ladies still experience some pains? Thinking of making an appointment with the Dr for a 6mnths check up for next month.

Have a great day ladies!
xx

O ja, look at how big i was the evening when i went for my induction... SCARY

The last 2 nights K's been waking up so much for feeds. She falls asleep at night before taking in a feed / only having a small one and I think this is why.

Last night it was 12am for food (last meal around 6:20); 2am - just niggly; 4am for food; 7am for food and awake.

So I am feeling pretty exhausted from all of it! I guess I must just brace myself now. By adding the solids her entire feeding / sleeping regime is changing.

Anyone heard of the 4hour sleep regression? What is it about?

Morning girls

Jeanine so nice to see you online again! Are you back at work?
Well done on the sleeping through! Wish I could say the same :(
So cute re discovering the colourful socks!
K doesnt like her teethers, they seem to irritate / aggravate even more.
But bought her a teething book etc and she loves those.

Robyn how much does Dakota weigh the last time you took her? What was she at birth?
You say she sleeps for 1,5-2hrs per nap? Thats very long! K only naps for 45minutes at a time!!! Always been like this. And feeding 4hourly is great! K was feeding 2hourly thats why I introduced solids. Now shes back to 3hours with the solids in the am.
You just have to follow their cues, but seems she's not showing signs of needing any solids - unless her weight gain is too slow. K is also gaining weight very slowly, around 100grams a week so more motivation for solids for our little girl. She's just reaching the 6kg mark now and will be 5months on Thursday.

Cols we're about the same then. I have 2 1st yr subjects to do this trimester and taking 1st 2nd year subject. What subjects are you focusing on? I want to go see them again to decide on subject choices for 2nd year as they influence what you can take in 3rd year.
Wow but you're already on veggies! What veggies do you give?
The clinic sister said to make sure that they dont drop any milk feeds until 6months as its still the most important for them so maybe all this food plus milk is still a bit too much for his tummy? Rather drop food than drop milk I think.

Eileen good luck at work :( Shame that really sucks but at least its only for a short while. I guess the company needs time to find a replacement? Hopefully this month flies by for you?

AFM Solids going well. She's on 3 spoons in the morning - which is a lot! Although I think I mixed in too much milk today it was quite runny she was practically sipping it off the spoon towards the end. But she loves it. And its been over 3hrs since her last feed which is amazing for us. She's napping now, almost an hour which is also a new thing for us! So on Wednesday I will increase it to 4 spoons and then will stick with that for a week and then start introducing evening feeds too.

Taking K to paed today for 4month check up (a month late!). And I have lots to do at home this week. Got to carry on registering my CV onto online job sites, send it in to recruitment agencies etc. This is all quite time consuming. And I need to sort out the clutter in our house. I dont like clutter, it makes everything look messy. But we're growing out of our house, we just dont have space for everything. Been here 4 years in March. But cant buy bigger till I'm in a stable job earning well again :(

Starting my diet today again after gaining 2kgs from Christmas :(
So I want to lose 30kgs by September / October. Joining weight watchers again. Have to lose 4/month to do so so I dont think its unrealistic if I eat well and exercise. Printed some skinny pics of me for motivation, will put them on the fridge. And got my lateral thigh trainer back from my friend yesterday so will do that at least once a day, and pilates once a week, and try either gym or walking another day a week.

And I need to register with Unisa this week too :( Sigh...

Hi Ladies,

Glad to see everybody is back now!!

I'm feeling nice and refresshed this mornig - Willem decided to sleep through for the first time last night!!
Usually he wakes up for a 3am feed (7pm being last), but this morning he only woke up at about 6:45!
Now just to hope it wasn't a fluke, and that he is going to stick to it...

I haven't started him on solids yet, trying to last till 5 months (which is ony a week away ), so will be getting some cereal this weekend...

He also discovered his toes over the last week or so.
I had such a laugh last night... All his leggings were dirty ( been raining...), so I put some socks on him to sleep with - with lime green toes - He was SO facinated with those bright toes of his.
So... DH puts him to sleep, and there we are tip-toeing around the flat, trying to not wake up the baby... I walk into the room, and he looks at me with big (wide awake) eyes, bum in the air, and foot in the mouth.
DH didn't think it all that funny at first - "but he WAS sleeping...."

Still no teeth, but he is drooling all over the place, and if he manages to get your knuckle in his mouth, he bites down quite hard!
Not too fond of his teething ring, think its still a bit big, so will go and get a smaller one for now...
