Hi ladies

My Telkom landline has been down since Tuesday, with the adsl off most of the time too (but weirdly it came back today - just the adsl though). And Telkom says the earliest they can send a technician to have a look is the 1st Feb!@ It is so frustrating but there is nothing I can do because there is no viable competition to Telkom
So I may not be able to post much over the next few weeks.

I need my adsl line to work - I proof read online annual reports for my main client, and I'm supposed to get my first project in next week, so I'm praying that the adsl is working. I don't have to have the landline, I have my cell phone if I need to make calls. But I need the internet dammit!

Ok sorry about that - rant over/

So John has been sleeping through since Monday night! I've gotten up a few times because he makes noises in the night like he wants his dummy, but when I get to his cot he is actually sleeping. And this morning he slept in until 6h30 :)

We are feeding him cereal twice a day now - 6 teaspoons a time - and his normal 3 bottles - 1 breastmilk 220ml and 2 formula 250ml (and I breastfeed him the early morning feed). But yesterday and today he has started showing signs of being hungry between his mid morning and mid afternoon feed so maybe some lunchtime veggies will be making an appearance soon. I'm going to wait a bit longer though. He does not always finish his milk in one go so I don't want him to start going off his milk.

Thanks Girly, you're right - John was on probiotics for a month at 6wks as he had thrush and I now remember my paed saying how important probiotics are! I take a daily probiotic myself but I forgot that my boy might need his own too. My local dischem were out of stock of the reutiri drops though. He has stopped vomiting though but is still spitting up although it is also not as bad as earlier this week.

PS: loving all the photos - Robyn, Dakota is super cute and Jeanine, Willem looks adorable and a little like John (although my boy has got chubby cheeks and many chins ;) ).
Charn, Emily is very tall and I love the pic of her chewing on her teething book in the teething necklace comp thread!
Kerry, K is looking too sweet - what can you win in that baby photo comp she is in?

Wow Girly and Cols, you are amazing, studying now with a new baby! I did my degree through UNISA - a 3 year over 6 years and all I had to look after then was a boyfriend/ fiance and that was hard enough thank you ;)

I went to Yeesh in Woodmead this morning to the Moomie Jhb meet - it was so awesome to meet the ladies and be able to say good bye to Meags. Lots of ladies didn't make it though but I enjoyed myself. John was very good too, he loves meeting new people, 'specially women. He's quite the little charmer :P

Ok, I'm off to bed, DH gone to bed already. I hope my adsl stays around so I can post more in the next couple of days.

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday!

Hey girls

The other night I typed this loooong reply on my 'new' laptop.
I was about to submit but suddenly worried I may lose it cos I'd been typing for a while. So I did my usual control c after selecting all of it. And what do you know, I didnt hit control as its in a different spot on this laptop and what do you know I deleted the entire selected text!!! :( I was livid...

Charnenay woohoo on your first toothie :D Just another reminder that our babies are growing up! Hubby was a year when he got his first tooth so I have a feeling ours wont be happening any time soon. Fine by me since I'm still breastfeeding!

Glad to hear her paed appointment went so well! You definitely have nothing to worry about :) She'll probably just surprise you one day by doing all these things!

Robyn your Dakota is sooo gorgeous :) Shew she is tall! K was 62cm at 5 months! And 5.88kgs.

Jeanine gorgeous little boy!

Nikki your little one seems to be doing exceptionally well!
When did you start solids and how long did you wait before introducing the next meal?
K also loves to stand with support its definitely her favourite position!

Cols hows the studying going?

Paed has suggested we give Kaylee flouride drops now. She will always require antibiotics with any dental work because of her heart condition and the operation so we need to do what we can to minimise any dental work she may need. Is anyone else giving zamaflour?

Kaylee is such a social person. We went to a braai this afternoon and she was meant to go for a nap at 4:20. But she stayed awake till 6:20 and then went down for the night. She absolutely loves watching people around her and was so talkative!

Solids is not going as well as I'd have liked. She is not finishing her full meal and is eating it much slower than before.
I will continue trying though but we dont always get finished.
She's been waking up a lot at night the last 2 weeks. Last night she woke at 9pm, again at 12 (I had just gotten into bed!) and then at 4 and 7. She used to just wake up at 4ish and the next feed was when she woke up for the day. So I've been pretty exhausted in the mornings!
So I've given her 2 spoons of cereal tonight for the first time but she only had about half. So waiting to see whether it makes any difference in her waking up tonight.

Still no luck with jobs :( I havent had much time to apply or submit my cv this week though. K doesnt like being left alone much so I only get 5 or 10 minutes at a time to do things while she's awake.
But I better get my ass into gear. Hopefully I'll get some time to do it tomorrow so that DH can help a bit.

Anyway I better get myself off to bed soon. Tomorrow is DH lie in morning so I'll have to get up early so that we dont wake him up.

Robyn, Dakota is beautiful :)

We went for breakfast at Eden on the Bay this morning and then took a nice stroll on the beach - Emily and our other baby, Roxy (mini datshcund) both really loved it and mommy can do with a bit of exercise :)

On our way back home, Emily started getting really cranky in the car which is unusual and nothing we did could get her settled. So I decided to put a bit of Ashton & Parsons on her gums and guess what?............. My baby has her first tooth :) I was so shocked - it is quite sharp and it looks like there is another one on its way out right next to it already.
That explains why I was up at 3:30 rocking a crying baby to sleep!!! I thought it was her tummy because she has been a bit constipated but it was obviously the tooth coming out that was upsetting her.

Hi ladies
went for Dakota's weigh-in today - at 20wks, she is just under 6kg (about 1kg under ave) and is just under 65cm (a whopping 3cm above ave!)
all is going well - still drinking 5x 150ml (going to try up to 180ml)
am going to wait til 6months to introduce rice cereal
she's very strong - constantly rolling over and in circles
and she continues to teeth - drooling non-stop and chewing anything and everything in sight!

here are some recent pics
