I will ask gynae for minipill too. I dont want the mirena dont like that it allows the sperm & egg to meet.
Charnenay wow you must really be ready for a full house if you're not overly concerned about the pill. That's wonderful.
We will probably wait till she's 1 year to start talking about extending the family and hopefully go off the pill around 18months. Time goes so fast, before I know it will be there. But we need a bigger house, we have already outgrown this one, and that means money and a job! Otherwise I'd go off the pill at a year.

Nikki hope you got your swing. I really like our one and so glad Kaylee does too! It's the perfect spot for her afternoon naps too as its slightly elevated. It also plays white noise so no need to put on an extra cd. I will definitely keep it for #2 and when family have babies they can use it too.

Wow cant believe you lost so much weight! If I may ask, how much did you pick up in total?
I am hoping the breastfeeding will help me, I'm losing about 1kg every 2 weeks at the moment, but my body is very stubborn if I eat badly it holds onto the weight.
I went to the shop earlier to buy chips for lunch for frying, and came out with R400 worth of food. Included chocolate brownies for desert - yummy! - and sweets to fill our sweet bowl and biscuits. All 'good' sweets, milk bottles, wine gums and sugu's but sweets none the less. Trying to learn to control my sweet cravings by having just a few a night and not emptying a whole packet which I tend to do. But at least I have motivation as I dont want Kaylee to take in too much sugar during feeding, so I have not had a chocolate in 3 weeks, and only had a bit of DH chocolate last Sunday.

Once I get the clear from gynae I will start exercising again. But after her vacs next week I will start taking her for walks during the day, that will at least give me some exercising. Also might skip during the day too if I have the motivation.
Once we've mastered giving her a bottle I will go to pilates on a Wednesday night. It's an hour long but will take 1.5hrs to get there and back. Just worry about milk leaking if I dont give that feed lol. Might just express when I get home for the following night.

Those of you expressing, how do you heat your milk? I put the expressed bottle in a bowl of boiling water and test it on my wrist till I cant feel the difference between my wrist temperature and the milk temperature. But what I wonder about is that once out of the bowl, the milk cools down quite quickly while giving it to her. Surely that's not good for them?

The honey dummie is at the till point at baby city, and only costs R31 so far cheaper than the others, and Kaylee has taken to it which is great to calm her and get her to sleep. She actually sucks it herself and it stays in her mouth quite a while once asleep. So I am happy.

Re the deed - Charnenay you're not the only one hose told me that. Has anyone checked themselves internally? If you know about trying to conceive, the trick was that if cervix is high you're fertile, if low you're not. So because we're b/feeding we're not fertile cos chances are we're not ovulating. So I checked myself this morning and its very very low! I can only imagine that BD would be sore as long as its low! So I'm kinda anxious about when we get going again. I dont want to disappoint DH.

Oh yes, last night she fed with 4hour gaps so I got 3hour sleep each time! We have actually had some energy today and did quite a bit of cleaning, and I even made a home cooked meal!

Kaylee had quite bad reflux the last few days but today she's fine again. I wonder if I could be overfeeding her. The last week or so I feed her, change her, feed again, and then she does her projectile vomit episode. But today I didnt feed her again after changing her, and so far we are incident free of projectile vomit. She did wake up early for her last feed, but at least vomit free? So gonna carry on and see how it goes. Will also discuss with paed on thursday.

We are taking her for vaccinations next Saturday. For those in northern suburbs, Durbell pharmacy at Cape Gate (and possibly Tygervalley) do appointment vaccinations on Saturdays so if you want DH with you for moral support then its a good idea.
I'm gonna phone tomorrow and hear about the cost of government vs private and if they have stock and then book for Saturday.
I am also gonna phone the clinic I was going to take her to and ask why they charge R440 for government, where I know from Charnenay that Dischem charge R45 for it.
Anyone else been for vacs yet? Where did you go, which ones did you take and how much were they?

Anyone heard from Robyn or Jeanine_K? I hear from Mommy2Monster by SMS and skype. They are good, but Liam was in hospital with bronchitis a few weeks ago. He is gaining weight nicely.
I also hear from Liani and Blessed2be occasionally by SMS, and they are good too.
I had Robyn's number but its stuck on my old phone so if anyone has it please send it to me?

Anyway, Kaylee is sleeping, so I'm going to take a short nap now.

Hi ladies

Charnenay, I'm on the mini pill Microval. My gynae put me on it 2 weeks after I gave birth. Its a mini pill which is safe to use if you are breastfeeding. He said it was safe for us to have intercourse after the last check up, but to be honest I haven't really wanted to :-) have been too tired for nooky
What is the name of the swing you got for Emily?

Girly, will try the snookums dummy if the Avent doesn't do the trick. I didn't get a chance to go out yesterday for the swing, will go today. Don't want to spend too much as they can generally only use until 12kg/6 months that means approx 4 months of use.
Peyton also sometimes brings up her feed, however she hardly ever feeds longer than 10 - 20 min. Always worry she is not getting enough. She drinks 50 - 125ml from the bottle depending on how hungry she is.

Going to look for a swing today, hopefully I get something inexpensive.

The breastfeeding has thankfully helped me loose all pregnancy weight. Weigh 6 kg less than before I fell pregnant. I eat quite a bit and don't excercise so it has to be due to breastfeeding.

Nikki - nice to hear from you. Glad that Peyton is doing well and sorry about the colic :( I've heard it can get a bit rough and I am sure it takes its toll on mommy :(

Emily went to her second bday party today already!! Today was my nieces, and she slept through the entire party!! I just took her car seat out of her pram and layed the pram flat and she slept in there all day. Quite a pity because so many people wanted to see her and mommy even bought a special outfit for her:)

Girly, gynae told me about taking the pill at the exact same time everyday and I'm not sure how diligent I am going to be about that - we have kind of decided that if number 2 wants to get here, then so be it :) Not sure how my manager will feel if I come back from maternity leave pregnant again though
RE: the deed, all I can say is OUCH!!!

Girly, let me know how it goes with the swing. I went to Baby City in Sable Square and they only had a demo model of the one I got, so DH picked up my one in Green Point's branch. The service at baby city and babies'r us are horrendous, I agree!!!

Evening ladies (yawn!)

Nikki amazing how time flies! Saw your pics on fb. She is too cute. Love the spikey hair!

They seem to be awake a lot more nowadays but doesnt give mom much time to sleep hmmm.
I bought the snookums honey dummies today. She actually sucks them! Not overly keen but a huge step for us.

Sorry to hear about the colic. Have you spoken to paed about it? What do they suggest? Have you tried the telament gripe water? Its got quite a sweet taste. I hope it will be a short term thing, maybe her body digestive system is adjusting again. How do you give the meds? We use syringe into side of her cheeck so its more difficult to spit out. And a dropper for the gripe water.

I hear you on the moods / sleep they definitely go hand in hand. Days that I feel most tired are days that I am most moody. But the last few days its an every day thing. I also feel like I need something stronger right now cause I do not want to be impatient with her she cant help it. I keep telling dh this when he gets frustrated.
I dont know re mixing buscopan, maybe something your paed can answer on the phone? I know that you can mix gripe water with boiled cooled water if they dont take it on its own so just maybe you could with the buscopan?

Did you buy a swing today?
We bought the Bright Starts one which has backwards & forwards and side to side motion for R1500. They didnt have stock of or know about the other one. Must say I struggle with service levels at Baby City. Whats nice with this swing is it has white noise as part of its music option so I dont have to put on the cd. I bought the baby sense white noise cd anyways. Still to try it out.

Taking K to paed on Monday cause she is vomiting quite a lot of her milk up. Breastfeeding consultant thinks it could be from nausea and reflux and only paed can prescribe the right meds. We due to take her on Thursday for 6 weeks so will just have to see him early. I just hope it gets better, she is still so small, cant bare to see her losing meals cos of it.

Nikki look forward to seeing you online tonight :) Its nice to have some reading to do during feeds. Anyone else is most welcome too!

Judes mom kaylee also has quite runny yellow / orange / green poos. I think its quite normal. From what I've read its only really black ones and blood you must worry about, and if it becomes diaoreah like.

Charnenay the mini pill did your doc tell you you have to take it at the same time every day or its not effective. I would stock up on some condoms too unless youre ready for a year gap between babies.
Re the deed - nope! I have no energy to think about it to be honest. Plus I'm still spotting.

Weight loss - I gained 19kgs and lost 12,5 so far. I lost 1kg this past week but I've pretty much cut out all sugar cos of the breastfeeding. DH finished 2 slabs of chocolate without me the last 2 weeks. I also want to lose another 20 once I'm back to my pre pregnancy weight. Any idea how long it takes to shed all excess weight that giving birth allows one to do?
I'm going to order an abdominal belt this week too. My tummy has seen better days!

Hi ladies

I finally get to post! I follow the threads all the time but never really get a chance to post.

Peyton is 8 weeks tomorrow, time has flown by! Took her for her vaccines and paed check up on Monday - she weighs 4.69kg and is 54cm in length.

Reassuring to know I'm not the only one struggling with dummies and day time napping ;-)

I've tried NUK, Tommy Tippee and now just bought Avent. I found the NUK to stay in longer than the Tommy Tippee and will see how the avent works, bought the wrong size though so will have to wait until she is bigger.

She feeds every 2-3 hours during the day and naps range from 20 minutes to 2 hours if I'm lucky. I bath her at 7h00 every night and then feed and she is normally asleep by 8h00. Gets up 4-5 hours later for another feed and then 4-5 hours later for the early morning feed. I do struggle with day time naps at times and also thinking of getting a swing. Sometimes use the kango pouch so I can get stuff done as well as my hands are free.

For the last week she has been crying for no apparent reason everyday around 5 in the PM until about 8 sometimes 10 pm. Think its colic. I give her reuteri drops every day. She hates Telament and Buscopan and spits it right out. I'm hoping it goes away soon but they say it can last up to 6 months :-(

Other than that she has been fantastic, growing so rapidly and is so aware of her surroundings. Can hold her head up much longer and is laughing and cooing-melts us everytime!

Can't remember when last I had more than 3 hours sleep consecutively-sleep depravation is getting to me especially with the household chores. Dr prescriced Espiride (which is the same as Eglynol) to help with breastmilk production and a mild mood enhancer. Helps a bit, but some days feel I need something stronger ;-)

Girly, I've been following your "burning the midnight oil" thread and will join for the next nightshift (easy because I use my phone to log in)
So happy to hear Miss K is better and doing so well, my family and I were all praying for her.

Going to check out Babys'Rus today for the swing-just don't want to spend too much especially is she will only use for a short while.

Does anyone know if you can add Buscopan to a bottle of expressed milk/formula? I also give her a bottle of formula once a day at night or if we go out and I can't breastfeed. I don't do the breastfeeding in public-too shy :-)

Enjoy the weekend ladies, weather is gorgeous in CT

Girly, I bought my swing at Baby City and it cost R999. Definitely worth it if baby loves it, but could be a big waste if she doesn't :( I would suggest taking her with to the shop and putting a blanket down in the demo model and then putting her in for a while to see if she likes it before buying it. Or, you welcome to come and visit and try out mine :)

Mommy2J - if your swing has a toy bar, have you tried taking the swing bar off when you put Sienna in it, it could be too close to her and she might not like that much stimulation???? Also, I discovered that Emily hates the music that the swing plays, she gets all niggly when the music is on, but the minute I turn off the music, she is happy and stares at the toys for a while until she doses off.

JudesMom, if you are breastfeeding, the yellow runny poos are what you can expect. Mommy2J - LOL about the seeds, DH kept asking me if I was feeding her peanuts while he was at work!!!!!

As for weight Loss, I gained 22KG by the end of my pregnancy!!! Have lost 12KG's, so 10 more to go and then to work on the extra 10 that I was carrying around before the pregnancy!!!! All clear on my 6 week checkup, so I need to hit the gym soon, but not sure if I want to leave home the minute dh gets in from work :(

Ladies, what are you doing about contraception, I had no idea you could not take the pill while breastfeeding - stupid, I know. So, gynae gave me the mini pill, anyone using or have used this before??? My crazy husband however seems to think we dont need contraception because he would like to try for the second baby immediately :woohoo: WhileI'm on the topic, anyone find time for bd yet????

Judes mom

your scream queen sounds alot like my scream queen, wants to be in the arms all the time and she has a pair of lungs on her...im also exhausted heading for bed now.

Re poo- is she on breast or formula?

breast poo is runny with almost a mustard like colour and looks like their are seeds in sometimes (not real seeds but it just looks that way) also could be slimy!

poo is almost like explosive seems like bombs going off in there...its hard to tell if its normal cos it seems so runny. But if you worried get it checked i thought sienna was sick cos some of her poo's seemed to watery but she only had like 2 a day and went to clinic and showed them nappy (luckily she had a poo just as i got there) and they said its perfectly normal.

Now she is on formula and her poo is hard and she battles to evrn push it out....i have to hold her legs up every now and then but its still yellow!

dont know about brown poo at their age....mabe google it and see
