Well its my first day back from leave! and i am crazy busy had near on 100 mails to deal with this morning and i think i am only 3/4 through them

Yeah i must say being home with Kaelyn was a real treat in some ways, but so very very exhausting. I am with Sher on the bugg*d.

worst is she started cutting her two eye-teeth so she was very clingy this last week, dad just didn't cut it... and she wouldn't sleep in her crib the last few nights... i am hoping tonight goes at least a little better.

Last night somehow she managed to not just wet the bed and her PJ's but literally SOAK them. so a two AM change of nappy, clothes and bedding and then she wouldn't go back to sleep... ai me! and she's wearing a size 5 nappy! I have no idea where all this wee is coming from! anyways TMI i think!

So sorry girls i will have to miss this meet, my mum bought us tickets to go see Phantom of the opera at monte-casino that day... (and i don't really want to miss that) Say i could drop K off for the meet though... LOL

Baby K I am sure you must be excited for the new Job, hope you find somewhere nice for John, ours is R1200 a month and also includes full meals. But it is a woman who works from her house and only has 10 kids or so.

Shame Cols i can just picture your christmass lunch... so sorry. And poor Wilbur, will keep him in our prayers!

Robyn sorry to hear about your DH Gorgeous pics, looks like you had a great time at least

Flowergirl - WOW I am soo jealous... K started teething last week so at the moment not only do we battle to get her to go down every two hours shes awake and crying! I feel so sorry for her but after nearly two weeks of fighting sleep like she would die if she accidentally fell asleep i am starting to get a little angry with her! Ah well it will pass... she was sleeping alone in a 3/4 bed before this started and also went straight down after her bath... hopefully we will be back there soon

Oh and seeing as before the christmass break K was sleeping on our 3/4 spare bed we decided this christmass holiday to make the spare bedroom her big girl room... we tiled and painted and built and installed a new built-in cupboard. The room looks so good now that DH and i are jealous and want to re-do our room in her colours! :-0 (Maroon, white and stone)

Hey ladies. Seems like its been forever

Hope everyone had a great xmas and new year. My 3.5 weeks at home ere EXHAUSTING!!! I was so glad to be back at work on Tuesday Emily is HARDWORK!!

She is geting so cute now though! But the first 2 weeks of my holiday was nightmarish! She was cutting LOTS of teeth, had a tummy bug and croup and she would not stop nagging. Somedays, I had to go to my sister in my pj's and get showered there!!

But she is thankfully better and in top form at the moment - such a funny little girl!!

She is sleeping through the night in her toddler bed now and for the past 2 nights, all we do is tell her its sleepy time, go upstairs and up the stairs she goes by herself, climbs into bed and 10 minutes later she will lights out. Can you hear me sing: "HALLELUJAH!!"

As for school, we are still planning on keeping her home until age 3 and then sending her only halfdays then. So I only have to worry about that in 2014. Seems like an eternity away. I have 3 schools in mind for her, so will decide closer to the end of this year which one and go and enroll.

it's so difficult with schools - either the hours are difficult or they are too far or they don't take the age you need or they just suck!!
I've only managed to find 1 place near me that does 3 days a week - they are nice and close, but their aftercare ends at 16h00!
But I really want to send D even if it's just for 1 or 2 terms so I don't throw her in the deep end, 5 days a week til 17h00, so we'll just have to see

Cols, BabyK, I'm definately up for a picnic (Especially nice for me, since we live a few block away from Delta Park ). Sunday 5 Feb sounds good to me. So far I'm free most of Feb, but MIL is moving the second weekend, so might need to help out on that saturday.

I hear you on the break with a toddler NOT being rest!!!! I just had a few extra days, and I'm exhausted!
DH and MIL was both off the week between Christmas and new year. MIL wanted some quality time with Willem, so DH got all rest in the world, and she also had him sleep over one friday night.

We are planning on going away for a week in May - with my parents (take-along-babysitters ) So hopefully I can have at least some rest then.

Cols, cool, well as soon as I'm settled we can make a coffee plan. But still keen for Delta park too.
I really like the montessori in Rivonia but they are only until 14h00 and they'll only take John from July (age-wise). So not really an option.
I saw another lovely little montessori in Sunninghill but they close strictly at 5pm and we can't guarantee that we will be able to fetch him by then. So its back to looking at the other schools again, and I'm also going to try Morningside pre-primary cos that's not too far from the office and close to my folks so they can be on standby if necessary. The Smiley Kids is cool but very new (only opened just before the end of last year) and quite expensive. I prefer a more established school, don't really want to be the guinea pigs you know.

Sorry your cooking flopped but GEEZ what a terrible day Christmas eve was for you! You poor thing. So sorry about your basset Ah that is very sad.
I hear you on the going away over Christmas thing, we would love to do that but I don't know if I have the guts to take John away from all the grandparents.
But all your planned breaks away this year sound fabulous! We are also planning more breaks away this year! Its a great new years resolution

Shame Robyn, how is your husband doing with his ankle? Is it in a cast and he is on crutches? I know what you mean, Si has a bad back (he needs to go to a biokineticist) but I find myself lacking sympathy after a day of lugging an 11kg baby around and then having to bath him too because Dad's back is sore. I really need to work on my patience. I've been trying hard to laugh it off when John messes and spits food out and the general war we have over mealtimes and its actually been alot better. He is so small after all, he is not trying to mess with me on purpose.

He has a bad habit of grabbing other kids faces, he grabs around their cheeks and eyes and makes them cry! He did it to a little girl at one of the schools I was looking at this week - talk about embarrassing! But all the teachers and others I've spoken to say it is completely normal and I mustn't worry, he will learn its wrong and I must just carry on saying "no". Still embarrassing though, I have 'that' kid who grabs other kids lol

I resigned to my main freelance client yesterday and it went well. She is sad but happy for me. Now I just have so much to do in order to finish this project before the end of January! Eeek! I wish I had the time to relax but hey, I can relax later in the year when life is a bit better for us. We have booked a few days at Mabalingwe in March, I can't wait!!!

Back at work today with my new hours: 08h00-16h00 Only had 375 emails to go thru
Woke up at 06h00, got ready, D woke up just before 07h00, got her dressed, played with her til 07h20 and i got to work before 08h00
Works well now (since it's so light) but not looking forward to it in winter

I'm looking for a play group that D can go to 2 daus a week (to get her used to preschool next year)
not easy!!

Had a lovely break but my last week (which is when I was meant to relax) was terrible!
Firstly, the wind in Cpt was soooo bad, you couldn't go outside
Then DH fell and sprained his ankle really badly on Fri night (while running with the dogs! )
and you all know what happens when a man gets a little boo-boo!!!
So I had 2 babies to look after in my last week, I was so tired! I actually started looking forward to coming back to work

Hope you all had a wonderful break
