Hi Ladies,

Sorry I've been scarce, our internet was off for a whole week at home . I read everything at work, but never seem to have to time to type a nice long reply

BabyZee, Oh no!!! Poor Fayaz! So glad he is okay. Shame hun, that must have been really scary!

Joybaby, I see K’s surgery is on Thursday – you are all in my thought and prayers.

Robyn – the tests?!?!?!?!

BabyK – how is the new job?

Cols – how was the holiday? Was Evan okay on the plane? Hope you enjoyed it…

We are now planning to go March/April – without my parents.
Apparently they feel our first holiday with Willem should be just the 3 of us – I think they just caught on to the ‘take-along babysitter’ plan

Been such a long time, let’s see if I can remember all the discussions
Willem also LOVES dunking. His absolute favorite is tomato sauce! It’s also the bribe of choice if he doesn’t want to eat – from screaming match, to opening his mouth as fast as I can get the spoon ready. Just by putting a drop of tomato sauce on the food!
Loves fruit – still likes banana – he seems to be the odd one out there
He has now reached the phase where he absolutely refuses to eat, unless he feeds himself Only thing I’m still allowed to feed him is pap, and only about 50% of the time (or the last bit of food – with tomato sauce ). Only problem is, he tends to play/mess more than he eats – ah well, As MIL keeps saying – he won’t starve himself

Never mind pointing at the grocery cupboard – Little mister now OPENS it, takes his own Marie biscuit out, and off he goes. If he can’t get one out, he brings the packet to us. Needless to say, I now hide them all the way at the back!!!

He seems to be getting clingy… He would just suddenly run up to me, and grab/hug my leg, and then I have to walk around dragging him along. Or he would grab onto my pants, and pull/push me wherever he wants me to go.

We are on to tooth #11!!!! 3 molars done. It’s actually been VERY good so far – only about 1 or 2 really bad nights per tooth, and for the rest, just one or 2 extra wake-ups per night for a few days

Hi Ladies,

Its been such a long time since i posted, i have been reading throught though and i am glad the baba's are growing well and happy. Well done mommies

On Sunday on the 15 of Jan Fayaz got a seizure and we had to rush him to the ER he had been having a fever for a few day, we just gave him panado and didnt think much about it. It was crazy i did not know what to do he was not responding his eyes where rolling up and he was drolling alot.

Half way to the ER he stopped moving all together and i though i had lost him. I couldnt feel a pulse, i just went numb. But then he started moving again and i was so happy and crying and screaming at the doctor over the phone for help.

The Red cross childrens hospital is just the best when i got there i had four nurses and three doctors all responding at the same time they got him stable in no time and then it was a waiting game to see whats wrong.

They did numerous tests... CT scan, Xray and blood work and they could not get anything. In the end they had to draw fluids from the spinal cord for test and they said he has Viral Menegistis. Phew! we were so worried its bacterial coz this leave lots of permanent brain damage.

When he can through his left side was still not functioning but with time he got to move both his arms and legs.

It was such a stessful time everyone was calling for updates which we did not have and after a week in hospital he was discharged on Monday all healthy and happy back to his old self.

On a good note Robyn, i wish you a BFP its so exciting let us know how it goes. I finally convinced DH for a third we are now TTC i knew i wanted a third and i dont want to wait too long i want to be all done, then i can concentrate on raising them

Joybaby all the best with K's surgery she is such a figther i am sure she will ace it, strongs. All the best with the interview i hope you get the best job out there.

Shew its quiet here! You'd think I'd have more time now that I'm home but I have been so busy!

Robyn oooh exciting! When is AF due to show her face? Maybe its just a bit early still?

This was also our first month of TTC, and we got it right over O time but AF arrived on Saturday morning, rather sad But this cycle we wont be able to try cos K will probably still be in ICU after her op and then spend a few more days in general ward before going home - although we cant stay over in ICU, once in general ward we will stay there day and night.
And I dont really want a December baby which means that March is out too. So looks like we'll be waiting until April to try again but wont use any protection.

Hope everyone doing well. I've got a few interviews lined up this week, hoping I can secure something before end of next week or we'll have to put our house for rent and go live with the inlaws for a few months.

Robyn – would have been so cool if you could tell him the good news today. Take another test!! If I were you, I would have gone for bloods this morning!! Good luck!!

Where is everyone?

It's DH's birthday today and we are busy TTC, so I got 2 tests the other day - wanted to give him a special 'gift' if it was positive, but after 5 mins, only 1 line ( ) Then, after an hour, I just happened to look at it again, and I saw a second feint line ( )
So this morning, I used the second test (so I could be sure either way) but again got only 1 line ( )
So now I really don't know
I'll jsut have to wait til AF is meant to visit
(a similar thing happened with D - I took a test, only 1 line so threw it away. DH saw it in the bin a while later and saw 2 lines - so he knew I was preggie before I did )
I'll have a look at the tests again when I get home (who knows??????)
Otherwise will def be next month!

haha Kerry, had to laugh about the dunking! Well Evan - given half a chance will put anything he can in a glass or tub or whatever. Even better if it has water or juice in it! He doesnt get sauces often because he sees that as a sign to smeer it across anything and everything! He also is not a fan of tomatoe sauce. He tastes it with the tip of his tongue and spits it out as if it were poison! He doesnt mind it though if it's a little bit mixed in his food Evan is on normal full cream milk. The thing is he LOVES water. So he drinks a whole bottle before he goes to sleep plus more through the night and he drinks his night bottle of milk. So I think it's the fact that he has about 500ml of fluid at night... If he doesnt have his water he screams blue murder and nothing will console him. This week though he has been more into his milk - he had 2 bottles last night! Possibly because he's not eating as much as normal because of his teeth... The gums are so swollen! I hear you guys on dosing the kids. Evan was like that last week - he had pain meds pretty much every night... I hate all this teething. # 10 is almost out now. Probably by next week...

You must post pics once the rooms done! Evan also does that now. When he wants food he stands in front of the grocery cupboards and points to the top (where his food is), milk or water, he points to the tub where the bottles are or he will open the cupboard where I keep the long life milk and he will try take the carton out. It's crazy that they communicate now. Evan also throws things away if he's already said he doesnt want it!

Kerry I think we just get ripped off for most things in the north... We have creches - a dime a dozen but they are still super pricy.

BabyK, Evan loves his books so much too. He listens so well to stories and he will occupy himself for ages "reading" his books I am also thrilled about that because I have always read. And I have so many great memories of reading my stories as a kid...

Evan also loves music and dancing. He loves turning around - until he's dizzy and stomping his feet, bending his knees and jigging to everything. My sister started this thing she sings "Dance, Dance - Dance, Dance - Shake your bootie - shake your bootie". Evan loves it! He will come hug your knees and make you wiggle them He tries to sing the Barnie song and Twinkle Twinkle little star. You can hear the tune he's singing even thought the word's are gibberish.

I am sooo glad the babies are ok! She must be so relieved and overwhelmed. Are they her 1st? Please keep us posted. She is in my prayers.

Joybaby, how are you? Have the Dr's come back to yet about K's op? I really pray this is the last and she is 100% after this! She is such a brave fighter!!!

Last night he saw me spear a cherry tomato with my fork. The fight we had because he wanted my fork to stab a tomatoes on my plate! Anyway, he picked up the tomato, put it on his plate and then squished all the seeds and juice out. He then started playing with what was left of his tomato so I took it away! I was thinking tonight I am going to dice up his peach in his bowl and see how he does with feeding himself with that. He devoured 2 of the salmon fish cakes I made last night. He really loves fish!

Then this morning, I was busy dressing Evan and I asked him if he wanted me to put on his shoe and he nodded yes! I was a proud mommy. He loves his shoes. He actually choses the pair he wants and then brings them to me to put on.

Well we have decided that he will carry on with the 3 day a week morning playgroup and my mom will have him the other days/ afternoons until the end of March or so, we'll see how my mom copes with it. And then we'll enrol him from 1 April or maybe after Easter, all depending. So I'm quite happy. Its quite a bit of driving around and fetching from my parents house each evening but at least its all familiar environments for John.

PM, good luck for today! Starting your new job. What you doing? Is it your old job again or did that fall through?

Cols, you can get Fry's products at Pick n Pay - in the frozen food section - they're all in green boxes. DH is not too sold on them, he still prefers meat, but for every now and then he doesn't mind.

Kerry, omw on the dunking! If John gets chips now, he has to have a little saucer of tomato sauce to dunk the chip. But otherwise he hasn't really tried to dunk anything else. But he really doesn't like me feeding him with a spoon anymore, that is when we fight. If its finger foods and the bowl/plate is in front of him, he happily feeds himself. But he hates being fed, he is really independent. His big thing is to eat with us - whatever we are eating. He loves being a part of whatever we are doing.
Fruit - he loves most fruit, apricots, blueberries, plums, nectarines, strawberries are his favourite (and I ate a lot of strawberries when I was pregnant, couldn't get enough) - but he has definitely gone off bananas too. He used to love them and ate one a day, now he spits it out and looks at me like I don't know what I'm doing.

He doesn't hit me but he grabs like I was saying and also likes to pinch and pull the hairs on my arms! Ouch. And he throws things when he gets frustrated, which is like every 5 seconds.

He goes into his room sometimes when we are sitting in bed sipping our coffee and he'll play for a bit and then come crawling back to us with a book in his hand - he half crawls half spider walks with the book and then throws it down and I put him on the bed and we read it. He loves reading, I'm so happy about that. I love reading so I really wanted to instil that in him. I hope it carries on as he gets older.
And he loves music so much and always has to shake and shimmy his little body. Every jingle on tv - he jams to it - and I try keep the radio on as much as possible. We have a record player and play him old records alot too. And the funniest - the other day the neighbours car alarm went off and he started dancing! Precious hey? We laughed so much.

Gosh these teeth are coming fast and furious now. The poor guy, I think he's had neurofen or panado every day for a week running. When he cries I can see all the white showing in his gums, both top and bottom (its the only time I can catch a glimpse of inside his mouth, he won't open it for me otherwise). We're sitting on 10.5-11 teeth, the right molar has just cut through, but I think the bottom 5 and 6 are coming too.

Oh yes - update on my friend with the twins: she had them yesterday morning and all is fine so far. They are both in ICU but that was to be expected. They are soooo small, poor things - the girl is 1.3kg and the boy is 1.1kg. But they are fine and mom is doing alright too. Together they weigh 1.4kg LESS than John was at birth. I can't imagine how small that is. Their names are Madison and Keegan. I love the name Madison, its so sweet.
