Sheryl, I agree. We're also planning more breaks Starting with Parternoster. Easter is a family get away then June / July we're going skiing in Lesotho. September I will try make a long weekend and then December I am going away. I dont want to spend Christmas at home this year.

BabyK, yup I am usually at the Rivonia offices Once or twice a week I make a trek through to our Rivonia offices. Just shout, I am pretty flexible most days Have you looked at the schools in Rivonia too? I know there is a montesori school around the corner from the office and then also a Smiley Kids. Not sure about prices though. Only school I would definitely avoid is Jolly D's. My nephew was there and they charge a ridiculous rate. The nanny's went on strike for not being paid and if your kid has a sniffle they send them home!

A sunday morning picnic @ Delta Park would be lovely. The kids will definitely enjoy the jungle gyms now I took Evan there one day over the christmas break and he loved it. Spent 2 hours there. Unfortunately Barry worked through the break so by the end I was shattered. It was mommy time 100% of the time. Barry had an argument with his dad on the 16th so I didnt feel right shipping Evan off there for a day so I could have some mommy time.

Christmas day sucked for me - I flopped all my cooking. I never flop anything Wilbur, our crazy male basset had a tumor removed from his tail and on Christmas Eve we found out he has cancer and there is nothing that can be done. We just have to wait for him to get sick or in pain and then put him down. My gran had a terrible fall so Christmas Eve the matron wouldnt let me take her from the home. I got a mole cricket in my pants on Christmas eve and it was bitting my leg!! I am more petrified of them than absolutely anything else so you can only imagine my sense of humor failure. And then the tension with Barry's folks. I woke up Christmas day in the worst mood and it translated into a shambles in the kitchen Everyone else seemed to enjoy themselves though so that was ok.

Happy new year ladies! This year can only be better than last year. In fact it sgoing to be an amazing year.

Ja, start my new job on 1 Feb, so excited but also really nervous. I'm researching schools for John, shoo wee what a job, I want to make sure I cover all my bases and of course the most important thing is that he will be happy, its such a huge responsibility. And they're not cheap hey! The cheapest full day is R2600 a month but it does include all meals. Its called Bluegum Hill, in Sunninghill. Anyone heard of it or know of someone who has enrolled their child there? I got a good feeling about it when I looked around and did the tour. I'm going to see another one called Hugs & Kisses and apparently there are 2 montessori's in Sunninghill so going to check those out too. If anyone has heard anything about these schools, please let me know.
Otherwise there is Kildrummy pre-primary in Paulshof but that would involve driving back down Witkoppen and that is major traffic in the mornings.

Cols, are you at HP in Rivonia? My new company is right around the corner. Its called Human Communications. I don't know what the story about lunch breaks will be but maybe we could meet for coffee sometime?

I hear you girls about not really having a holiday with the toddlers being such busy bees. Its not a job for the faint-hearted hey? But it was awesome to have Si at home, he spent amazing quality time with John, the two of them were inseparable, in fact, mom was just a piece of furniture half the time (and so I got some time to read my book/ do the crosswords )

Christmas was great with the family coming to us - John slept for 2 hours while we all ate a late lunch and then when he woke up he opened his mountain of presents and was just so well behaved all day! Wow did he get spoilt! Such a loved boy

Re: the jhb meet - 1st weekend of Feb we already have a birthday party on the saturday I think. Its also my first weekend after starting the new job so I don't want to do anything major. But maybe a picnic at delta park on the sunday morning or something would be nice? Si will probably be working that sunday but I can come with John?

holiday cols what holiday LOL. Mine was way too short and there is no rest when you have a baby / toddler. K is just far to hyper. I was buggered.

this year the plan is to take more long weekends like every 2 or 3 months, just have to, thinking of dec is so far far away i need strength with this job of mine, 2 weeks back now and I felt like i have not been away from work. sad sad sad

It was exhausting being home alone with Evan. I am so looking forward to our holiday! Leaving for Paternoster on the 21st! Yay!!

Swimming is such a sensitive subject, you either like it or you dont.

with kids its harder as you dont want them to grow up being paranoid about water, its so important to know how to swim

I think leaver her for now till next year and see how it goes, in meantime let her eventually during the holidays go with you in the shallow pool and you hold her show her security etc and she might eventually feel safe and start liking the water

I dont think leaving the swimming for too long helps either cause they just have this fear for water

like K she was in the water at few weeks old, by 2 months she was already holding her head up and straight as a arrow, she always loved water and now swims on her own.... she just dives in the water

every child is different and for now you have to introduce the water to her slowly....

swimming schools should normally let the mom go in the pool with the baby to swim for lessons ??? doesnt yours ?

Congrats on the working hours Robyn My working hours are thankfully flexible. As long as I get the job done, doesn't really matter what time I arrive or leave (and as long as I am available on my cell from 8:00 to 16:30). So, I am quite happy with that
Trying to finish up so that I can take the girls to see Happy Feet 2 later this afternoon. Wanted to see Alvin and the Chipmunks 3, but that only opens tomorrow:(

Jeez, the shops are CRAZY at the moment!!!!! Even the roads are hectic! I drove to work at 9:30 this morning and it was like peak hour traffic!!! Crazy - I guess people are trying to get there shopping over and done with. I have not bought 1 gift yet.

I took Emily for swimming lessons yesterday, but it did not go well not sure what I should do - keep on taking her or wait until she is a bit older???

its been one crazy hectic ridiculous year. recently was so close in telling people at work where to get off. of course I am polite so I bear and grind count to 110.

next year is gonna be worse.... I am still running with few projects and doing two peoples jobs, happiness

anyway started wrapping xmas pressies last night while K was sleeping, imagine if I did them while she was around, yikes.

I am still stuck on one pressie, thats for hubby. I really dont know this year what to get him. He loves his big toys but they so expensive.

so much to do and so little time.

anyway have a nice day and will pop in before I go on leave ....
